From: White Hyacinth I don't see why people object to this thread, I learn a lot from it! I am very bad at remembering names, it would be difficult for me to name just any ten names from SL-people without making spelling mistakes, so I am not making a list There are two I would like to see mentioned: Nathalia Zelkova Mystical Cookie I don't think people take offense, I just think that most people enter the forums in debate and argue mode, so they try to take down even simple fun threads. As for famous people....Personally for me I always looked and still do look up to CP Costello.

From: errUh Oh if the question had been "who is the most helpful or who is the kindest or who is the most talented" i doubt people would be offended. But youre basically running a popularity contest which btw consists of people who wouldnt even be known in this world if it wasnt for serious sucking up skills or manipulations to begin with. Dont lie Dont even try to argue with me. You think this is my first account? lmao i purposefully alted out several times just so people would leave me alone. Unlike some people whose only taste of popularity can be obtained from behind a monitor, i have absolutely zero desire to be famous. You are pixel pushing nerds in an online world. Do not delude yourselves. Seriously cheers to anyone of substance who offers anything of real value here. But celebrity? no. "I wanna be famous too *sniff* but they ban me so often for being rude".

That's not fair - you shouldn't get to be emperor AND be famous. From: Jake Reitveld Jake reitveld is the most famous person in my second life.

I'm sure we had a thread on the same subject not so long ago. The essence of "fame" is how many people know who you are and something about you, even if they've never met you. Someone like Anshe Chung obviously qualifies, since most people know who she is. Just knowing someone well yourself doesn't qualify anyone as famous. Equally, it's fatuous to claim that fame has no meaning in SL.

From: Porky Gorky I allways thought Torley was a 'her' irl and not a 'him'. Learn something new every day. If I remember the "official" backstory correctly, Torley Torgeson was originally a dude who carried a keyboard everywhere (being the musician/composer he is). Sometime later, his time traveling daughter from the future (also named Torley) appeared. Technically, the Torley most of you know is actually Torley Jr.

*waves to AWM and Morwen* Kain here... Main- lvl 72 AW; Alts- 67 SWS, 62 SH, 55 BH, 51 Sorceress, 46 SE (male, my buff boy) and 44 WC. Yeah, I was as obbessive about L2 as I am SL. When my clan moved to WoW, I moved to SL. I wish I still had that Dark Elf female stretch and bend over move *wonders if my BH would be accused of age play here* Just to pretend this is sorta on topic... yeah, we had some people that were famous on our server... clan leaders of clans that excelled in pvp.

From: errUh Oh You are pixel pushing nerds in an online world. Do not delude yourselves. Seriously cheers to anyone of substance who offers anything of real value here. Dude, I've only been around SL a short time, and, slow as I am, have already understood that SL is NOT a game.* Sure it CAN be a game, but the potential is waaaaaay beyond that, encompassing all facets of things currently enjoyed all over the internets(sic ), and eventually this huge potential will actually be achieved by some entity, whether it is LL or GoogleFoxPfizer or ... . Read: http://www.technologyreview.com/Infotech/18911/page1/This post may seem off topic but it goes to the heart of the "famous" or "celebrity" matter... eventually (or arguably already-so-and-climbing) celebrity in SL will be a valued commodity (and more RL actors/etc. will follow Bruce Willis' and others' leads). * when the sudden realization of how big the potential for SL or a similar thing was hit me after about three weeks of "playing the game"... well, I was in shock for a few minutes

It's pointless to discuss whether sl is a game, it's up to u. From: Diskatopia Paine Dude, I've only been around SL a short time, and, slow as I am, have already understood that SL is NOT a game.

Sometime later, his time traveling daughter from the future (also named Torley) appeared. Technically, the Torley most of you know is actually Torley Jr. If you go onto one of the different grids and happen to meet Torley there, you are meeting an alternate grid Torley, most noticeable difference is the color scheme. EDIT: It has been pointed out to me that this thread is a General Discussion type topic and is thus off-topic. I'm on the fence as to if it should be locked.

From: Broken Xeno Isn't this whole thread against the rules o.O; I thought we couldn't mention avatars names in our posts specifically, lol. Technically it is against the wording of the rules, which state that we musn't name names. However, the idea behind that is to stop people bad-mouthing and slandering (well, it's in print, so technically it would be libel-ing, if that's a word since libel is a noun not a verb) community members. So while it is against the wording of the rules, it doesn't seem to be against the spirit of the rules.

It began as a relatively innocent, if "laughing and scratching" style Resident Question, accompanied by a few Resident Answers. It has since settled into more general discourse, however it has been mostly polite and in good spirit. I say let it run its course, and kill it if it gets out of hand. From: Strife Onizuka It has been pointed out to me that this thread is a General Discussion type topic and is thus off-topic. I'm on the fence as to if it should be locked.

Gryx Beckenbauer, my partner in SL for nearly 3 years Are we the oldest couple in SL? Kermit Quirk for developing Tringo, which was then sold to a RL company Prokofy Neva for making me smile. And no-one more than him has tried to burst the bubble of the FIC. I have negative feelings about Anshe Chung that go back nearly 3 years, difficult for me to be nice about her. Bilbo - all hobbits are famous Nonna Hedges for making the most adorable and must have clothes; I especially love my wedding dress. The best as far as I am concerned. Khamon Fate for making fabulous trees which change season - the man is a genius.
