How old does my avatar need to look to have sex?

How old does my avatar need to look to have sex? I'm not sure which country's laws are being used, so I don't know if it's 21, 18, 16, 13 or one of the many other ages of consent from around the world. I just know I'll get banned if I look too young.

Does anyone know what the age cutoff is?

Well, in Germany it's legal for a 16-18 year old to have sex with another 16-18 year old. As soon as one of them turns 19, it's child abuse. Since german laws seem to apply now on the grid (for now, until the next country complains about another issue), it might be safe to go by that rule. Hm... what about two child avatars playing doctor games? Could that be illegal?

It's all such an incredible nonsense, being forced to care about such things in a virtual world.

It's very common to confuse age of consent with something like this (hell pedophiles do it all the time on myspace?).

If you go the mainpage and look at what it says the age for SL is, I'm sure you'd have realized SL is 18+. How can anyone not have seen this?

As for what you want to look like? Why would you do something like that? You want to look like a 13 year old ? Just cause it's age of consent in some country? What has that got to do with SL and what has that got to do with you pretending to be some other age. Major confusion here. I suggestion you eat a banana instead.

That is out of question. But who judges the age of avatars? 90% of all SL females look like barely 18 to me, perhaps younger. There are no wrinkles on skin textures. No one would want to have crow's feet. Without those subtle signs of age, there could always be someone (like a curious reporter looking for the next big scandal) who judges my SL partner's avatars as being 16 or 17, even if they intended to look older.

Maybe they do want to look younger. It's their SL, not yours.

Actually, legal age in Germany is 14. From 14 on the only restriction is, that if an adult is involved he can't be one of the responsible persons for the teen, like teacher, coach or something like that.

who determines how old my avatar looks?

it seems most female avs are around 6'3 to 6'5, so at 5'4 i look child-like. so i also wonder about this.

I would say that the only appropriate manner for determining the "age" of an avatar is if the avatar has declared an "age" in their profile for said avatar.

Of course...that will be considered absolutely outrageous and unacceptable by some. But who are YOU to tell me how old I am? In RL I'm often thought to be a good 7 years younger than I actually am...

I am 5'3" in SL (I'm even shorter in FL) and if someone thinks that short height equals a child then they need to lower their 7 feet height or just plain don't look at me. I have about had it with the do gooders and busybodies in SL.

It can't be hight based, because I know adults in RL that are about four foot tool due to genetic disorders. They are not mentally handicapped in any way though and are certainly capable of providing informed consent to sex.

And going through my avatar list I have another problem: how the heck do you figure out age for non-humans? If elves live for centuries then it stands to reason they look child-like for longer than humans do. And what about furries... the basic luskwood AVs look underage to me before they get edited, but what is the age of consent for a puppy dog? They certainly don't wait 18 years to do it.

Germany bans depictions of children in sex acts, not any sex with an age difference.

But no-one has any idea what is or isn't allowed in SL right now, other than "young avatars can't have sex, with avatar age to be determined by sensationalist German media"



What if my character is 7 years old, but physically looks 18?

No way. That has to be a prosthetic.

I am 5'6 in sl which is 3 inches taller than my real height in rl so by my standards I look tall, even if others are much taller. Also I am a mermaid that gets legs on land and so what is my age? Mermaids live for centuries I am told.

I am five seven in SL. To make myself look older I have decided to make my breasts sag - just a teeny bit - well if you look closely you can see a slight alteration due to gravity. But my partner noticed immediately - "Have you changed the shape of your nose? What happened to your breasts??" I must say I am tired of 9 foot avitars with goofy faces who look like the Muppet Porker Film Stars (Pork Loin?) My partner looks like a raunchy Keith Richard on a bad day.

I think the answer is "You have to look plausably 18 and didnt say you were under 18"

Thus you could probably look 15 as long as a reasonble person might think you COULD be 18.

The Age cuttoff for what age you can roleplay for sex is definitely 18. Thats was stated in the notecard rules.

Thats just my opinion - But for an avatar theres not alot of difference between 14 and 30 , really. Grown women have all sorts of figures IRL, including flat chested , skinny and short.

I certainly hope LL doesnt start policing minimum height, bust and waist sizes .. that would be crazy. Not to mention igrnoring reality.

Absolutely, Susie! I'm 5' in SL and RL and I'm sick of being asked if I have a kid av. SL is an adult environment where only adults are allowed. If there are RL children playing here that's the fault of LL's non-verification policy (oh that magic million!) and the responsibility of RL parents.

That's news for me. Well, I guess things have changed a bit during the last 20 years, since the matter was of personal interest for me.

For some reason I watched the video on the YouTube from the German media and some of the kid avatars actually were just short avatars to me and the only reason they maybe looked like kids was the height. I never wanted to be tall in SL, wanted to be normal.

the whole thing seems a little over the top to me.
i don't see the germans going after japan for all of the anime they release each year that over glorify the underage school girl (or maybe they are?). as this is an online interface, we should be able to choose how we represent ourselves whether it be male, female, old, young, animal, dwarf, elf, etc.. age verification should be left to the parents of the children. responsibility should be in their hands, not in ours. just seems a bit ridiculous to me. oh well.

I am guessing that you will have to use a little common sense on this one.

If LL have made it a bannable offence to engage in sex with children, then I would suggest you try not to look like a child?

But aside from all the "confusion"...(which to be honest, I really dont believe exists).... if you are in second life with the intention of having child sex.. It sounds like you are in the wrong place. Use common sense and maturity when making your decisions based on the age of your avatar.

Its not as difficult as people are making it out to be.
