Advice on Sales!!

Thanks for the nice words Czari They weren't too hard to find were they? It drives me nuts when hunt items are too well hidden- I know some like the challenge though Hope you got great goodies everywhere!

sadly the hunt is falling apart, so anyone here that has the lm list feel free to hand it out to folks

getting tons of im's from hunters saying that some lm's are leading to dead ends (because of location changes and the folks who are supposed to replace with the new landmarks, did not replace them) and people dropping out (same situation)

I'm so sorry to hear that and I hope things get fixed. You all have put a lot of work into this.

(I knew this would be a busy weekend in RL, so I decided not to participate in the hunt because I didn't want to commit to something I may not be able to completely follow through on.)

Can I add something as a consumer?

If you are going to post in New Products, a photograph is worth a thousand words. Basically if I can't see the item by easily clicking on a photograph I forget it and look at the next one. Then its easy, if I like what I see I visit the shop, if not I don't.

lately (actually for awhile) people have been unable to attach pics to the post so a lot are putting blog links, which for me is just as good, only one click

the ones that make no sense to me are the ones that say

"I have new stuff, come see my new stuff"

that's it, no slurl, no store name, no pics nothing
now who would take the time to log in, search the person's name and HOPE they have it listed in their pics...

Don't panic Rha. You've put so much effort into this, so don't let a few dead ends spoil it. I'm going to try pop in-world now to add the list to my give up sign (if SL is still working for me tonight). At the latest hopefully I'll put it in by the morning. At least most people should be able to finish the hunt if a fair few of us do this. It will still be fun for folks!

If you are not a member of the in world group, just drop by my store for the updated list (we had one person drop out, personal RL reason) unfortunately she was not able to let me know until today.

I have been thinking of a new way to do a multi store hunt, and getting some ideas hehe, got a month or so to figure it out (and the xmas one will be longer too LOL)

not sure if I would call it a hunt though, with the ideas I got mulling about in my head

Rha, i'm doing the hunt now and it's going great. a few ppl have pumpkins that aren't actually set for sale, and some are really hard to find so i'm giving up - so that's a bummer, but otherwise it's fine.

i'm using the list if the contents from the last one don't contain a LM. i think it's going just fine. great stuff too! we're all mature enough (and experienced enough thanks to SL constant goofs) to handle a few glitches.

don't even worry about it. it's a good hunt!

edit to above post: i just accidentally found out that if you single click on a pumpkin that won't come up for sale, the for sale window atomatically comes up.

I went to the store ahead of me, they apparently have dropped out, so I went to the store ahead of them, and had the owner replace that LM with mine, thereby skipping the store. I went to the one behind me, and it is up and running there so the LM I am giving out is good.

Regarding pics in new products, oh yea, if my picture won't upload then I wait to post. I read thru that forum a lot, and if there are no pics, I just move on to the next one.

and I wouldn't worry too much, I have had more than 350 pumpkins taken so far, so something is going right somewhere Luckily I posted it in freebie groups this morning with my LM lol

I am lucky if I have seen 10 or more last I checked and the pumpkin is easy to find... have not checked lately though

ah I checked before I sent out the notecard with the lm's had about 10 pumpkins sold

now I just checked and it is about 50 sold

not as many as some folks, but better than none

So basically it's a SL-wide pumpkin hunt? I've gotten some really cool things on pumpkin hunts but the same ones keep coming up on search - some have great freebies some have freebie shops freebies, one place had a pack of motorcycles and cars, pretty cool. Transferable too!

ETA: Ok will try those coordinates...once I ask someone (it's about time tho) how to use them. LOL TYVM

Well dispite everythign i have had around 200 people take the freebie from my store, which is encouraging. I have also had a number of sales which is also nice.

I am glad there is now a way to get through the hunt as i tired it last night and there were so many dead ends in it.

People seem to be having fun with it however. mind you next time someone running through the hunt quickly before sending notices out may be a good plan.

unfortuantely people did not realise the hunt was set for SL time, and everyone did not have stuff out before it started

this is the first time I ever did anything like this, and the last... learned the hard way

Sounds like this just needed a tad more organising, like a note card that specified SL time or whatever. The first run through is just to get the kinks out etc.

And a bit of leadtime for running through it and publicity maybe...but I really hope people will do a holiday one. Maybe even a turkey day one...I'd love to see my av have a plate of turkey mashed potatoes and the fixings. LOL

I had a GREAT time with the hunt this afternoon - especially seeing all kinds of new shops and stores and items I'd never known about before. And when I hit a dead end, because I know the people who were participating in this thread, I either went to their shop or clicked the "I give up sign" (that was brilliant) and kept going.

I don't consider it a failure at ALL!!! I'm not a big hunt person but this one I REALLY like and plan to continue tomorrow!!
