the way the smart attachment script works, is you can set a skirt to take a certain position when you stand, sit, or lie down. You have to set each way, then it will automatically move when you take that position. Great for sitting down, but not for dancing (because as far as your avatar is concerned if it is dancing on a poseball, it is sitting). Your bracelet (if you used it there) would change position on those 3. I'm not sure it would work for that but if you want to try it, the script is available for free in world (it says where in Mermaid Diaries) or give me a shout later (I've just logged for a few hours) and I will send it to you.

Well heck- if it is available for free ---- please send it to me anyway! I will add it to skirts...

Re the bracelet, I posted in the bldg forum and was told the thing "should" adjust automatically... will have to look at it again cause i know for a fact it isn't adjust ing where I have it..but it could be I oopsed the attachment point- have to check to be sure 'though I dubt it.
And thanks for the Smart Skirt script in advance.

I sent the script out thru Biz Owner Grp, that way if anyone else wants it they can have it too. Instructions are on the notecard with it :)

Sorry I didn't send it earlier, I almost forgot :)

Great start to the pumpkin hunt
10-30-2008 10:54
What a great start to the pumpkin hunt. Just finished putting out my stuff (hopefully it's all out ok) and SL crashes me out :( Tried relogging and eventually managed to get back in once to a different region, then it crashed out again. Now I get the dreaded "Login failed. The system is logging you out right now. Your Account will not be available unit 2008-10-30 10:51:50 Pacific Time."
Wonderful
Ok... now I'll try again, although I'm not holding my breath!

Good job I'm not holding my breath... I'd be getting a little blue by now.

Oh well, think I'd better hunt for another viewer to try (a Mac one).

If anyone has a little time could they check you can find 3 pumpkins at PP Designs?
One downstairs, and two upstairs. That's my only clue for here incase anyone's peeping ;)
I just hope the region's not crashed out :(

is it ok to put them out now? I worried if I put them out too early, people would port to the next place and no pumpkins :S

yes it is ok
it starts midnight tonight SL time, however I forgot to put that in the info, so some timeszones are already in the 31st

you should also get a notecard from me with the lm's to all locations

I guess it is close enough, and if someone ports to a place that doesn't have them out, and it is still not the 31st then they really do not have anything to complain about, as the hunt had not officially begun

I do not expect ppl to stay up till the stroke of midnight to run putting them out LOL

Rha- I need the actual START lm of the hunt so I can send to my group, please :) Also, folks- those of you participating- make sure you get the word out to your own groups in case they are not members of the the group Rha is sending out the notices on. Point being to encourage folks to try new places.

Thanks for the help earlier on Rha. The SL viewer really messed up for me big style today. Seems quite possible that I was ghosted. Anyway even when it did let me back in, it crashed my straight back out. The OnRez viewer came to the rescue, it's not as pretty as the official client... but it works! At least I now have a way to get in-world 'till LL fix the Mac viewer.

Am... I don't think there is an official start point. Each store just leads to the next and it's circular as far as I know. I'm sure Rha can put me right if I'm wrong ;)
Just make your store the start point of your notices, that's all I did.

you are welcome prawny
and you are correct, there is no official starting point

the starting point is your own store, so when you send out a notice tell folks to start at your store, and when they arrive back at your store they are done :)

if everyone puts out the pumpkins and the signs, the whole things will go in a chain, in a circle right back to the start

the chance for mishap is high, all it takes is one or 2 ppl to not put theirs out, and the chain breaks

that is why I sent out the list of participating landmarks, and those lm's in the notecard are in the order of the hunt...

so if someone doesn't put out the sign or the pumpkin and someone asks you where it goes after that one, you can deduce it from the notecard of lm's :)

Giving something back
10-31-2008 07:41
A source of constant guilt most of my life has been forgetting important dates. I've given up on the guilt now, and just cheerfully remind everyone in my family that pokes are needed in my direction regarding upcoming holidays/birthdays/anniversaries etc. They laugh because they know me, and remind me.

So I was not surprised that Breast Cancer Awareness month came without my being aware (although as a woman I should be). But it did, and it has made me think.

I know several businesses in SL give back to the community, by donating funds from sales of a particular object during a campaign period. Having been involved in business most of my working years, I know that it is a common practice in business environments in RL to give back to the community by sponsoring events or even just selling casual days etc. I never had to worry much about it, marketing always took care of the details, and I would appear dutifully for the heart run/walk, or whatever was next. So of course I have not the foggiest idea how such a thing works, in RL or SL.

I have 2 questions: First, is there a calendar online somewhere that tells us what month is typically designated for a particular cause (like I THINK the Mother's March for march of dimes is in (d'oh) March.) and Second, how are funds raised for a particular charity then tranferred from SL? Is there usually a donation kiosk somewhere in world to make it easy?

I appreciate any insight and if November is anything, please let me know lol

Relay for Life
10-31-2008 09:02
Ralektra, the only charity I'm familiar with who holds fund-raising in SL is the annual Relay for Life for cancer. This thread goes into a lot of detail and near the end lists ways to get involved.

Although the Relay is just once a year, the planning and such go on all year.

One can become involved as little or much as they like - from just placing a donation kiosk at one's business or by donating item/s to raffle off, etc. But again, this thread will give a LOT of info:

Different charities do this in different ways. I decided to help the Autism Society for America, so they have a kiosk in my store. I have a notecard next to the kiosk and ask that if anyone is concerned about donating in my store, to please go to ASA's location inworld and use the kiosk there.

For the recent Bounce for Autism event, I donated proceeds from sales. In this case, the purchasers and the charity rely on the honesty of the shopowner to turn over the funds.

(By the way, Bounce for Autism raised slightly less than L$1,000,000 in one weekend. The amount was converted to US dollars and presented at a RL ASA convention.)

I know there have been reports of fake kiosks for charities in SL. Just as in RL, there will be people trying to take advantage of the generosity of others.

Just returned from about 4 hours of going on the Grid-Wide Hunt and WOW!!! It is amazing! Lots of organizational work put in by Rha and all the participating merchants.

I started in PrawnyLoks store and was going my merry way through various stores...and then encountered one store that did not have a lm to the next location (and I found all the pumpkins). So headed over to Amar's to pick up the hunt. I haven't been to your main store in awhile Amar...it looks sooooo pretty!!! And I LOVE how you put notes in your pumpkins so hunters could know if they found all yours or not. Some merchants were really good about numbering their pumpkins (like #1 of 5) and others, especially in large stores, I just looked until I found the one with the lm in it.

In 4 hours I think I only made it through about 12 stores more or less...I think continuing to look at Clary's Garden Center could have been a project by itself (although really fascinating items there).

I definitely took notes as I hunted - for things to return and purchase later and/or Christmas gifts.

Great fun and I wish wonderful sales for you all who participated from this!!
