I recently graduated from modeling school and need to build my portfolio. If any of you would like to use me for your clothing ads, I'll give you one free photo session (up to one hour), as long as I can list you on my resume.

:)

I might take you up on that, when I make something new :)

at the moment I have been concentrating on once again redoing the store and surrounding area hehe

and having a secret sale, which by the way, if you have never done one, do it, and send out the notice too.

I am doing mine so that 10 items are 10L each, just you have to find which items it is.

This has resulted in sales, which I needed badly

I have yet to send the notice to fashcon and the other freebie group.

That's a nice sounding idea that I've never heard of before.

Been doing those for awhile Phil- it really does generate traffic - yeah like YOU need that! hehe- and there have been sales for me too aside from the lowered price ones too! And Rha- I usually price them a heck of a lot higher than $10 L - as long as it is a visible saving from your usual prices no one minds. You need to have a real savings but for example, my clothes go for anywhere between $75 L to $400 - I set out a few of the higher priced items say for half the usual price and they do sell. I don't do it too often because if they are few and far between they are more appreciated. Also I have time to make more stuff :).

Guys- I set out a group notice but in case anyone missed it- I let some open space in Talon Faire if any one of you want to set out two or three prims of freebies, dollarbies or reasonably priced items - Halloween themed of course. Don't forget to include an LM to your stores and to announce it to your groups with a Talon Faire LM so they can find it. I will do the same to my groups and we can cross advertise- win/win!

I don't post much at all on the forums, but have kept myselt updated on this thread.

If anyone is interested, I'm planning a freebie hunt for around the middle of October (11-12 or 18-19). You're more than welcome to place freebies around my sim. I only ask that you IM me or drop me a notecard by this weekend with your information on it, so I can plan out a notice to send to my groups and for advertising; listing everyone's shop names that will be participating.

I have a steady traffic flow on the sim. A lot of members in my groups. This might help everyone out a little. I'm still in the planning stages, but was thinking that permitting how many people are interested, each person can set out up to 10 boxes around the sim, you won't have to join a group, so you'll be able to place your gifts out on your own.

I'm usually off and on all day, depending on how my RL wants to interfere with my SL life, so if you don't catch me through IM, drop me a notecard.

I'm always open to ideas, if anyone has anything more to add, feel free to.

I would be interested, I can put out my last few samples from my last few new releases

Freebie hunt would be cool if it was world wide.

I agree, I really love the ones that hop from place to place, they can be loads of fun. they start off in one sim and if there are several items hidden the last one has a lm to the next location where you pick up freebies and continue to the third location etc.

If people are interested in something like this I would be happy to help set it up. This would work really really well if we can cross advertise the event to our individual groups as well as to the freebie groups. It also means that the hunters come to each of our stores (or whereever you decide to set up the items.... ) and there is greater chance of them stopping and buying something than if it was all on one sim.

However if no one is interested in this idea Im upfor the hunt on Hannah's sim :)

now that sounds interesting, basically we each set up our own hunt, but we have a LM pointing to the next leg of the hunt, I bet a lot fo places would get into that, just have to make sure none of the directing lm's get doubled or anyone gets left out

count me if in you decide to do that (since I redid the land and removed the water I have been considering a hunt on the land)

I came back here to post about a "world wide" sim hunt and it's already been mentioned. If that's what everyone wants to do, I'll be more than happy to help out. Maybe someone can come up with a logo and notecard that we can place in our shops letting customers know about it?

If this is what is decided on and someone doesn't have the room to do it, let me know..my sim is still open to anyone who wants to participate in something like this.

I have the extra prims, so instead I can set up something that will allow shop owners to place a few things in them for the 2 day (or however you want to do this) event. Maybe make this into a fall shopping (freebie or dollarbie) fair or something?

I'm just throwing out ideas as they come to me, or as one of my customers mentions it to me....

I'd definitely be interested in participating in a freebie hunt too. I did hold one at my store a week or so ago that was great fun. I think I might be too good at hiding things though, as I got one rather snippy IM saying I should have taken the Treasure Hunt sign down when the hunt was over and there were no boxes to be found, and the person in question was NOT encouraged to shop at my store. The hunt was still on at the time lol, & people were still finding the hidden items.

Am happy to join in a grid wide hunt, & have some free time right now if anybody is needed to help organise.

I am really good with logistics stuff (ie working out what goes where etc)....

SO maybe I could take on the task of getting the names of the people interested and randomising an order for the hunt then handing outa folder to each creator with a LM for the next place to TP to and a notecard with the number of items at the next place??

Then maybe we could have another person who is in charge or oganising the info into a notecard for us each to have at our stores.

It would also be good if manybe a thrid person would like to approach some of the bigger places to participate (we have a few who peek in on this thread) as well as contacting some of the folks from this threead and makign this soemthign nice and big??

Maybe another person could create a funky box or soemthing to put these prizes in so they are the same throughout the hunt (which makes it easier for the hunters to find things)

Ummmm thats all i can think of for the moment

Hannah thats a really sweet offer for those who are tight on prims or for those who run their businesses from malls alone :)

Just while my brain is ticking over... we can do it so that it is circular... that is there is no set start and finish point. This means that regular customers can start at your store and work on from there without missing out on the items before becuase what would have been the last place will have the first LM in it.

As long as we tell them the totl number of boxes in each place and at the hunt in total as well as the total locations i think it could be a good way to do it.

If everyone is ok for me to, I would like t split up my items between my store and my club (where i have a vendor) then i can send out a notice to hem about it and have a sign up there (meaning we get 900 + more potential people participating)

sounds good to me

let me know when you are ready for us to recruit folks for this, I am willing to approach some of the bigger names out there

I think the round robin is a perfect way to do it, that way as you said, no starting point, just a loop

and yes the people will need to know how many boxes are at each location, so they know how many to look for... and of course each box needs to be numbers

I was thinking we needed a group in world for this, so I went ahead and created one, but it is not open join, because it is going to be for the organizers and sponsors, etc, so if you want to be a part of this grid wide event, contact me to be invited to the group. Those who want to be an organizer will be officers in the group with the ability to invite others (so if they recruit a sponsor they can invite them in)

This way we won't be cluttering up the forums with it, or eventually letting any pertinent info slip out :)

I'm actually rebuilding a new main store, it will be completed for this week-end. After that, I'm ok to be part of the circular hunt you just mentionned.

Just a note to those who are waiting for invites to the group, I am logging in now, invites will be sent shortly. could you drop me a line letting me know if you wish to be organizer, sponsor, or both.
(sponsor would be basically the ones who will have the hidden objects at their store)

I'm definitely interested in taking part. Just about to log in so will ask you for an invite. RL is a little hectic at the mo though so, not sure how "involved" I'll be able to get :(

prawny you do not have to be involved to be a sponsor, to be a sponsor you just have to be willing to put out 1 to 5 free items with a lm in one of them to the next location (which will be supplied to you) and of course a sign about the hunt

we are planning it for the 31st so if anyone wants in let me know (I am also going to use a hippo group to send out the items and notecards to the sponsors.)

so if you do not wish to use a group slot, you can still be added to the hippo group and get the stuff needed that way

also...

I would like to say, if you are trying to boost sales, do a secret sale

I forgot to send out the notice to the fashcon and one of the freebie groups so did it a few minutes ago, and already have had sales of over 2000L in total today

not only do folks buy the sale items, but they buy other stuff as well, AND it gets folks into the store

I am watching the dots, and people are wandering around more than they did when I still had the water, so removing the water and leveling out the land, has helped a lot in getting folks looking at the rental stores outside (of which I have placed some more, so if anyone is looking for inexpensive rental spots come on over and have a look)

OK folks...While I'm not selling clothing I've made, I am selling a commodity...myself. I'd love to hear some suggestions on how you think I might market myself and get my name and face out there.

Ideas?

Quick question about setting Busy. I know that setting Busy automatically refuses all inventory offers, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it also refuses payment offers. Is that true, and if so, would that include payment for items sold inworld?

It's just that sometimes (like right now) there are times when I need to be inworld but not at the keyboard. I want to set myself Busy, so friends who IM me don't think I'm being rude by not replying, but I'm leery of auto-refusing payments for items bought from my store.

Can anyone quickly confirm or deny whether this would happen or not? (Because I need to go AFK PDQ :D)

I don't believe that it declines payments.

Set busy and have someone pay you 1L to test

Honeybear: Sign up with Nex-Core and Ewing agency and all the other agencies you can. Take out a bunch of classifieds, hire some adboards in fashion related areas. Give your ad to photographers in SL. Advertise in the forums. :) Good luck with it.

Skell, I dont think it refuses payment, if it does, then a lot of merchants I know are losing money, because they sit in game set to busy for long periods of time.
Also, it may "refuse" item delivery, but usually it ends up in your trash folder.

Yeah, I've been signing up with every agency I can....but some aren't taking apps, and others...I'm not very sure about.

I need to find a photographer who is very experienced in shooting portfolios. I've had two done and while they are nice...they just miss the mark.

Good idea about the ad boards, Dani, thanks!
