Advice on Sales!!

I liked your idea Eclectic, the shirts sound quite funky and i'd love to have a go if i could ever get good at making shirts. They seem to be evading me at the moment lol.

I'm back, comp is fixed, got a few new outfits to work on in game (not as many as I had planned on having when I came back grrr thanks to my comp)

And gotta go check out Primal Art sometime today, see how it's coming!

lol Ralektra....you won't see much except the old build in place missing a lot of walls and roof. the new build is way up in the air at around 500m I think

how are things working for everyone? Has the things mentioned in this thread been tried and how are they working?

lately (for the last 2 weeks or so) sales for me have all about died... I am lucky if I get a sale a day, let alone enough to cover my tier

I have been using the ideas in this thread, but it just seems these past two weeks have been hell. I hope something picks up soon

been thinking of redoing the store area again (outside area)

remove the water, bring the land back up, and have nice little walkways, maybe some plants...

*shrug* I dunno yet though... still pondering. (the rental stores would remain in the same locations, just would be on land instead of over water, thus freeing up some prims)

I'm in the same shape... My freebie is "selling" at 2 per day on average, I've cut my prices, rented mall space. I reeeeeeeealy need to work on my lack of selection. (=_=)

yep freebies are "selling" especially when I put out a new one

21 0L freebies go out and 3 of the 1L dollarbies...

the 0L have all been the same item, now I dunno if that means, it is not as good as I thought (but some have sold so that can't be it) or if folks just are not shopping right now.


I am thinking I might stop putting out new stuff weekly and just make stuff and put out new releases monthly as a group of new stuff, so instead of getting a notice each week, folks will get notices once a month and can come and see lots of new stuff. Then throughout the month, if I decide to have secret sales or whatnot, I can send out those notices.

September is supposed to be the month when sales climb up again after the summer, and early on mine did show signs of it happening. But the rest of this month hasn't been any better than the previous few months, and the last 2 days were the worst I've had since very early this year. If sales were supposed to be going up during September but stood still, they effectively went down, and the last two days were comparively awful.

My rankings haven't changed. All I can think of is that the RL financial climate is affecting spending in SL.

I just hope it is not the trend

I decided I will do my new releases once a month, that way I am not stressed over trying to get out something every week, and enjoy what I do, for as long as I can do it

My sales have been dismal the last couple days- i wd say pretty much non existent- but still better than pre-thread

Then it is the season and the economy, Rha- there is no way this has hurt us. I had no sales at all before- at least now i do. No danger of me retiring and living off of SL proceeds though1

Today looks like being as bad as the last two days. Since 2 days ago, sales are less than half of what I would expect at this time.

not sure what you are referring to when you say no way this has hurt us..

if you mean the drop in sales, yes it hurts, it hurts anyone who sells stuff

if you mean the thread, then I agree, the thread is not the cause of my sales slump (at least I hope not LOL)

My sales were down a little during the time I was offline, but still way better than before this thread. My freebie today has gone well, it's not as nice as what I usually like to offer but was very pressed for time...and I am having a 50% off everything sale to celebrate being back ( ) and have had about 10 sales so far today in the shop, plus a few unrelated to the sale in Slex and Onrez.

As compared to before this thread? HUGELY better. Before this, I wasn't selling much at all.

So what am I doing differently than I was before? Well, for one thing I have more product (though still not a lot in comparison to those who started before me as that is basically a 'creation time' issue), and my work has gotten better because of course I am still learning. Those are things that are really not connected to anything I have done here.

I try to keep my name out there...I want someone to say 'oh yea I heard of that before somewhere'. So I try to come up with something new at least once a week and putting it on 'new products'. I offer freebies on Fabfree and Freestyle (I try to do a new one every week and do it as a 24 hour freebie) and that has also helped to make the name familiar (and has helped sales as well, on one occasion for example a woman came in for a freebie and bought like 6 things which was very exciting). I have redesigned my store, improved my ads, worked a bit to make search work for me (though I have a long way to go there). My sale this weekend is listed in events. These are all things that are directly related to this thread.

I guess the biggest and best thing from this thread is the marketing. (Thank you JOJO!)

Are there things that hold me back? Probably. For one, I make what I like and sometimes it isn't what someone else would like. But I'm from a long line of stubborn Celts lol. And in RL, I try to live green and that has carried over to SL as well. Not too much transparency, not too many prims, not too high resolution images. My stubborness might cost me a little But overall I am really happy with the way things have been going.
