Oops- Czari- sorry - Besides- Fashion is more than clothes!
Re freebies- hey whatever- if it works for you great, if not leave it aside- we all have our reasons for the paths we take. I personally have not been overly enthused about going on hunts- maybe I have been missing out- don't know, will let you know - I've just never been interested but I will try it out.
So... moving on... what cool new tool have you tried lately? (A completely non-obvious change of topic here...)

And furniture peeps... a question- detail vs prim economy? For example, I love the stuff at Safira's - but OMG I have to put stuff away to put hers out! And I do- it is soo worth it Wow- such rich detail and such bloody HUGE pieces! -But gotta say- awesome service - ages ago I bought stuff I was sure would fit..It didn't - she came back and customized it with no additional charge- see now she gets a free plug from to you guys and to pretty much any one who ever mentions they are looking for that style of furniture.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli why do you have such a problem with freebies?
so what if others want to do a freebie hunt
That doesn't mean you have to be snide about it, you do it your way, others will do it their way
and I for one, do not consider my freebies worthless nor do I feel that a lot of the stuff out there are worthless, in fact some freebies I have seen are better than some other stuff I have seen selling for 100's if not 1000's of lindens.
you can think I am attacking you, or picking on you or creating drama or whatever
however I am simply disagreeing with your opinion, no different than you disagreeing with the opinion of those of us who like and use freebies as a marketing tool Whoaaaaa girl.....settle down there....I am NOT attacking.....did you not see the smiley face? I'm simply offering some input from a shopper that hates freebie hunts.....and I am not the only one....most of my friends are designers, and have businesses.....they have money to spend....but they do not have time for a freebie hunt.....and hate it. We had a discussion about this, the other night. Quit getting so riled up when I give you helpful insight to how people who make money here, shop. Holy Geez! Lighten up. I'm about to take my toys and move to another Sandbox! Did you see the smiley faces????

new tools... I plan to get the visitor counter/reporter thing that was mentioned a couple pages back, I think that will be handy just in knowing where people are coming from. That also means I have to update stuff with new LM's and such but that is cool I also picked up some sculpt cuffs, not sure if I like them though, they stick out over the pant leg in places I do not want them to stick out at, so I might have to fiddle with that a bit more as I mentioned, what works for one, doesn't always work for another

From: Amaranthim Talon And furniture peeps... a question- detail vs prim economy?
Well personally I go for both . Its all in the texturing. Yeah its nice to have all the extra details, but I mean if you have only a a minimal amount of prim usage are you really gonna use it up on two or three pieces???? If you cut the prims the right way and the textures are top notch it makes it less prims but can still look as good. The usage of sculpties are supposed to cut down on prim usage but i find more and more people are making more decorative items using more prims/sculpties and the lag is getting worse with it. I dont think most people are educated enough on how the textures add to the lag on the sim. One texture that is 1024x1024 is 3 mb, multiply that by 10 omg, lag for me thats for sure!!! You need to pick what needs to be high and what can be a 512 or even a 256, I mean you arent going to use a 1024 texture on a tiny box that doesnt get a close up view. Just some food for thought when you are designing . Less prim and less high rezz textures when it doesnt need it and it will make a better sl for everyone as for freebie hunts, mmm i do love hunts but i get bored easy if i cant find the boxes and i will actually just give up and go on to something else I do love my freebies and will pick and choose what i like. I have quite a few from big known designers and have found brand new ones by using them. I havent quiet got the grasp of them yet. I am still a little disheartened with no sales after working so long and hard on some of my stuff but thats sl for you. It is an oversaturated market and a popularity one at that. Omg its like high school, lol. Me I love building and at the moment i have probally about ten things on the burner, from furniture to jewellery and I do one until im bored or I go and do a tutorial until im better at texturing so my things look better for the consumer. I wont even mention my photography that has been pushed to the side because of issues with sl. So peoples lets not bicker and fight amongst ourselves. We all have opinions on things, we all have advice to give. Some of it we want to hear but others dont. You know i love constructive criticism, it hurts but it makes my stuff better. You gotta suck it up, build a bridge and get over it!!!! I would much rather someone tell me , you stuff sucks, then kissing my derriere and fluffing my ego. So be honest with yourself and others. If you dont like my stuff, tell me. If i think its warranted I will look at it, if I think Im right ill fight you one it , but respectfully. As long as i listen to your side, i expect the same thing back. Its only natural we become offensive when we hear something thats not singing our praises, it hurts. but you know we do it ourselves to everyone, from celebrities to the local restaurants. We are in retail, expect it, embrace it!!!!!!

A note on freebies and giving them out.
The current freebies I have in my shop, and in my lucky chairs are items that just a few weeks ago sold for 200-300L each item.......they are not throw aways, they are not trash, and they are some items I worked very hard on. Because I've put freebies out, I've recieved more traffic in my store....everyone who gets a freebie from my shop gets a notecard and a LM with it. They will have it forever. I am one of those very little known designers. The only way I can hope to make it in the industry in SL is to become known....the easiest way of that is word of mouth...and that requires gifts....you are arguing semantics....gifts, freebies, whatever. This thread has turned south rapidly over someone's "perceptions" of freebies. I suggest we all keep open minds, and realize that we all have our own opinions...and just because one might not agree with a practice, it's no reason to belittle others for it.

So true danielle. We all perceive things different and we should welcome that. I for one am going to have a look at my freebies, Im thinking of putting the things im working on, like the prototype to see if they are well recieved or not. I often give things away to people on my journeys, it pays to be nice you never know when it will reward you!!! You also gotta remember some of the big guys may have been here from the very beginning too and Know a few things and everyone loves free stuff. Gee's i just went to the hair fair and the first thing i did was pick up the gifts, cuase I figured if i liked their style and workmanship i would definately go to their main stores. Sl is a big place, lots of competition and you have to get your name out somehow

From: Danielle Harrop This thread has turned south rapidly over someone's "perceptions" of freebies. .
I beg your pardon. I take a lot of time with the people in this thread, one on one....and they take time with me....we can swap ideas and opinions without someone going ballistic....even if they are entirely different. I've taken a lot of time to share with you, what is working for me....and to offer ideas which I bring from a RL retail marketing background. I also share the way me and my friends "shop" and we are heavy duty shoppers. It baffles me that you won't even consider that. I also spent a lot of time doing reviews for the majority of you, and had to practically beg you to come to my store. My "perception" did not make this thread go south. Someone with a chip on their shoulder, did. I simply shared my thoughts. This thread has become counterproductive for me....so I won't be back....fight amongst yourselves.....but I've got better things to do....and I'll share my thoughts with people who are open minded....and appreciative of thoughts and advice. I knew that when I had to explain how to say "thank you" over and over again....that I was banging my head against the wall, and should stop. Amazing. I hope you don't act like this toward your customers.

the written word is a powerful weapon and we all need to remember that. We are all grown ups here and we really need to start acting like it. Remember writing and speaking can change a phrase so much.
I have been to everyone stores, but I chose not to review for the simple reason I would probally say something no one would want to hear and then it would be on, lol. We all like different things and do things different. So dont get upset let it wash over you. Its a learning process. Its not a war amongst ourselves, this was a great idea to get business people together to share and swap ideas, some great and everyone will want to do them and some that dont like that style, its okay. We all do things differently thats what makes us all great at our given talent. Embrace the difference!!!!
lol, now im rambling feel free to blast me if you want, but unless its constructive criticism, im not interested. I come into SL to get away from negativity and will not let it touch me in here!!!

So smile be happy You are alive and kicking!!!

My comment about someone's "perceptions" of freebies was in response to a quote in a post, that oddly I cannot find now, that one poster called "freebies" throw-aways, and wouldn't ever give trash to customers, but preferred to refer to them as gifts and charge a small fee for them....
I was merely posting my perception that my freebies are not trash, throw aways, or unwanted. If that upsets someone, so sorry. As to how I treat my customers? I haven't had any complaints.

/me grins.... im ina wonerful mood, which is why i am skipping around in RL. I dont want to see this thread slowly turn into a slinging macthand it seems to be in some ways. Healthy debate is good and challenging others ideas is good. When it gets personal it isnt so good. Each of us comes to this table with a different set of pre concieved ideas and the fact is that those ideas are rarely changed by another person and particularly in sucha short period of time. Challenging those ideas is good, but e need to be aware of the way we do it. Show fact, show ideas, shwo data. Challenge the idea and not the person, and never belittle anothers idea. This thread has been hugely productive. We have had some amazing thoughts thrown around. I dont wan anyone to walk away from this thread. Working together is what has seen us slowly begin to build our businesses. I think an awareness of where everyone else is coming from is important to. For instance I have no desire to become a big name in SL. I dont want to be selling thousands of items a week. Idont have the time for that nor the desire. I want a small store that makes some sales and for the people who buy things off me to enjoy the things they buy. A sale a day makes me smile, becuase beyond texture uploads mybusiness costs me nothing. I dont pay for the land i use nor either of my satelite stores. For others they have a esie for their busines to grow and to become a big name in SL. For them the way they look at things are probably different. On another note: Honey? Have you thought maybe about a treasure hunt which takes place at all of our stores?? This could be a load of fun. They start off on your sim and pick up a few things. The last one has a LM to the next store where they find an item or two then a LM to the next store etc etc?? Anyway just a thought if you like the idea. Whatever you decide i would like to participate

/me sends positive thoughts out to everyone you are lucky!! I would love to be looking after 5 kids under 4 hey I am in a great mood too, my headache is finally almost gone (even though last night it came on along with a major case of nervousness, had some kind of chase on the freeway which ended in front of my house) not sure where the driver went though, I heard a car door and the dog barked about 1:30is AM, so I looked out saw a car I did not recognize in front of our house, shrugged and came back to the PC (figured it was someone at the neighbours) about 2am, dog started growling and barking again, so I went to look again, and saw police around the car, then heard the police chopper, could see the search beam, and saw a k9 unit as well... oh shit, not good well I called hubby cuz I am a major chicken shit with stuff like this... he said go talk to the police if it will help calm me down so I did, they told me everything was ok, they just needed to inventory the car and will have it towed.. I told them it arrived about 30 minutes (approx) before they did, he then told me that they were chasing it, it was going the wrong way down the interstate, turned onto the access road and stopped in front of my place (did not say if they caught the guy, I hope so) so yeah, I am doing great!! in a really good mood today in SL I got all my stuff repriced, wooot!

hehe that will keep your hands full do you run a daycare? sounds like it with that many kids I would love to run a daycare, but I would want babies or toddlers (I always felt that they were easier to care for, when I would take care of kids growing up)

From: Mickey Vandeverre That sweater was amazing....best I've seen. You are selling yourself short by giving that away. I have a friend in your store right now, that wants one. She loves your stuff. But she can't find it. You missed a full price sale. She bought something else. She is NOT a freebie shopper....
I would pay 200...I want one in a orange rust color....if she paid 200....that's 400 on just 2 sales....so 3k is peanuts in the scheme of things.
You have a huge talent, Ralektra. Don't get bogged down with doing all this piddly crap, and sell yourself short, or give yourself a freebie, give-away type image.....you can command better with your talent. /me thanks you PS the sweater should be tintable, problem is that sl was buggy that day if you recall and changed perms on me if you got one that is no mod, let me know I'll send you a modable one (the tintable was a bonus, when I made it I was playing around tried a few colors and hey works!) The sweater is slated for release this weekend at the sidewalk sale (along with 3 or 4 other things I made specifically to release there), the mall where it is can be found in my picks if interested (and yea it was a huge hit got a ton of pms about it hehe). And yes, going forward my prices will begin to edge up a bit, but remember I'm all about reasonable prices and I hope I don't wander too far from that. And guess what? My partner tried on the sweater and it worked (I was afraid it would stretch all to youknowwhere) so its going to go on the market as unisex

Yep I do Daycare from home, Im a fully Qualified Childcare Worker, been in the industry for like 15 years, but decided working from home was better for my kids and finances, lol. Working with kids is hard work and role modeling correct behaviour is a must, im so sickly sweet sometimes i want to puke, lol. But I love the challenges and the love from all the children i look after, i have another favourite saying sums it all up.
A childs mind is not a fire to be lit; but a spark to be ignited.
i stand by this and practise it every day. Thats why i come into sl, adult stimulation, a world away from what i have in rl.
