Ama i only use fash con so i cant really help there

On the other question, working it out that plac is 29L per prim per week, that is ASTRONOMICALLY high and to be hoenst your three prims are likely to be lost in a sea of other prims. I really dont think that it would be worth t no matter how high the traffic is.

Just for comparison i pay L$400L a week (ie your 1200L for three months) for 50 prims on a sim called Mayfair which is connected to a set of 6 sims called the london sims. The traffic and flow through there is really quite good and i make decent sales there.

10L a prim is my absolute maximum high for mall spaces and for me to pay that they need to hve large traffic and do more thn just want my store, ie the mall owner take a lot os time into advertising etc

Thank you very kindly! I knew it was ridiculous but wanted another opinion- I do not want nor need a huge amt of prims as i have my main store and space in a couple more places-
What I am looking for is a small spot to hold my newest endeavor and serve as advert for the Main store.

Have a second opinion: there is NO WAY that I would pay that amount for just three prims. Considering this, especially:
From: someone
it is a place with traffic, however one where i personally have had abysmal luck before
I would personally walk around that area for a while, check out what kind of stores are there and what they sell. Look at the other people shopping there, at which stores they're going into, and whether they seem to be buying stuff. Also, what's the rate of turnover of stores? Are the same ones always there (indicative of decent sales) or does there seem to be a revolving door policy (indicative of not enough sales to support the high rental prices for some people).

This wouldn't happen to be a space in a new fashion region that begins with 'G', would it? I got sent a notecard out of the blue from the owners there, stating they would like me to consider renting there. That region is exclusively fashion (from the notecard: "[region] is All About Fashion. [Region] is the ultimate SL Fashion Experience";), and I don't sell fashion; I sell homes! Sure, the region has garnered some great blog exposure already, but I would expect the owners to do a bit of research before sending out their notecards.

Not to mention their rental prices are a tad over my personal budget for such things. Take a look at this, from the notecard:

Small Store: 100 Prims | 5000L$/month
Medium Store: 250 Prims | 7000L$/month
Small Store: 500 Prims | 11000L$/month

L$12.5 per prim isn't too bad, I guess, but it would have been nice if the owners had even VISITED our mini-mall to see what kind of things I sell.

Edit: On re-reading that notecard I realised I do have a vague connection with one of the region's owners: I spent rather a lot of money in their mainstore during the Make Him Over hunt ;)

Skell- yeah i got that note too and it doesnt fit my stuff either- but no-it's not that place. It's in fact a place dear to me for social reasons. Because of that, i have tried before to make a go of it twice there. Not really sure about their stores- what ever the case, how E broke it down for me on a per prim price seems ludicrous cost. I shall continue looking.

Any one know some good cart space? :D

It's in fact a place dear to me for social reasons.
Then look at it this way: when you went there for those social reasons, were you shopping at the same time, or just socialising? High traffic because it's a place where people enjoy socialising does not equate to all of that traffic walking into the stores to buy stuff (since they're probably too busy socialising!) It's the same reason why malls inside clubs are mostly empty: people go to clubs to dance and socialise, not to buy stuff.

What it boils down to is: if all of that traffic is stuck in the social area and not making it into the stores, then it's not worth renting space there.

The price boxes are really just signs - most items are boxed other than the lanscaping- I will consider adding more info for those.

Samperium has a prominent sign cause Marcel is a great friend to me, he has one of my store at his place as well. I have signs on either side- one for the clothing things and one for decor- I will look at ways to make it more noticeable- thanks for the input :)

Dammit I need a new name... no one can spell it apparently

Sampireun Design is the name... and I should include an update.

The last 2 months I have hardly done anything. Removed the classified, which saved me 2k per week and did not show in my sales. So much for classifieds I suppose. Apart from search optimizing, I really did not do enough, no new releases at all. So I decided to make up for that and am building again. This week I hope to release a great series of benches of which I expect much, so they will sell like crap :D Mostly it are the items that I expect nothing of, that sell the best.

Anyway, I still run well, the rent of the Homestead is easily paid and I make a profit, but I need to spend a bit more energy in releasing more products. Too many people TP in and do not buy anything, which means they do not find what they like. More items in different styles should solve that.

Furthermore, I am doubting what to do with my sexbeds. For the time being I will leave them in the store but if the new policy does not allow that I will open a specialized store in an adult sim. So as you see.. not much news from my side :-)

Agreed- i then went with a suggestion for a space in New York - the Sim is called Regent. I had enough sales there already to cover the one month rent - am hoping for more walk by traffic since the buyer was a friend that happened to got here cause it is where i was at the time :)

Just an idea, but do you have a suggestions/feedback box in your store?

I have gotten jewellery obsessed this week, it is insane. 15 new pieces in two days.

But i am loving it, they arent your usual kind of jewellery, anyay i dont want to say much more as I dont think i have seen much if anything like this in SL yet and i dont want to jinx myself by having some big name release them before i do ;)

I still have way more in my inventory to release than i should, soemthing insane like 25 items at last count.

I reallllly wish i could pay someone to do the boring stuff so i could make but oh well

OMG!

Brings to the fore the whole branding thing. Grant you it is more than likely a coincidence and not on purpose but there shd be some recourse.

ah the business world of SL

I have decided to take the leap last month and have been busy making and setting things up in world and on XStreet. I think my prices are good, I umm hope. I am really not trying to make a killing on anything. This is just for my entertainment really and would love to have some success. However I have hardly sold a thing. It would be nice to make something anything back on the cost. Anyhow...I am very interested in this thread for sales suggestions...busy reading :)

Well I do have a mailbox at the landing point but do not have a sign with it. Might be a good idea to simply put a sign above it that says: Ideas and suggestions. Thanks for the idea :-)

Yesterday I finally released the benches, today I put them on XStreet. The part of boxing up and making the pictures is the part I don't really like but it needs to be done :D Now let's see if they are worth buying according to my visitors!

Hey Morgaine,
Nice to see you have joined the army of merchants! You seem to have talent too, I like what I see on XStreet. A few tips:

- Mention the prims in details with sets like your living room set. So that people now the prims per item, instead of the total. The pictures I like, and you use more then one, which is important on XStreet.

- Choose a brand name and use that on every picture (at least the one you use as main image on XStreet). Eventually people remember your business name (well... Ama still can't spell mine :D ).

- Links to your parcel on all items. A few items missed that link, and especially furniture people like to see in-world.

Good luck!

Oh well there are a few stores with Eclectic in their names

Mostly my store is branded and known as e! as it is much easier to type than e! Eclectic Apparel and Accessories which is my full store name heheh

I dont think i would be too fussed unless he started making items VERY similar to mine and created a look of a store similar to mine, then i might get a bit upset, but to just have a similar name well oh well

I have really been enjoying these past few weeks, I have been on holidays from uni and have been creating and releasing a load of stuff it has been so much fun :)

oh I just set up my first second store in SL at the NY sim its a nice set up, based on commission sales for rent. It also seems they provide some nice promotional things for there stores also. I am new to this, but it seems pretty good easy to find shops there and a teleport system comes into play for ppl to get around, besides they have attractions that ppl visit.

I think commission sales are a good idea, I didn't know they did that and will probably go check them out

Hello to everyone on this board
06-25-2009 09:14
Hello my name is Jon and i have been browsing this board for some time now. I have to say that I recieved alot of valuable information from everyone. I opened an art gallery in Dec 2008 (Art Erotique) and being a first time business owner I was surprised that I actually received sales:) I have a main store and rent stores in a couple of the malls. I havent received any sales in the malls but I'm not worried about that because I'm just trying to get my name *out there*. If after 2 months I get no visitors or sales in the malls, I leave and go to another.
I recently hired an advertising company(only because he's a friend) and although I have seen traffic increase, sales are the same. As with any product sometimes sales are good and sometimes a couple of weeks can go by without any sales. The layout at the gallery is good but I need to increase the product line. Anyway...I wanted to say hello and introduce myself to everyone.
