Amar, you got to be first :P

I sent an IM about some difficulty with the landing point as I felt it was something you might want to deal with immediately.

It took me a minute to realize that the things I saw were for sale, and not garden decorations hehe...but that could well be because my thoughts were still
on the landing point. Once I did realize they were items for sale, I walked around and everthing is well done and well presented.

I walked into your skybox that you have set up, and the textures and the colors were really very nice.

Into the store itself, and it is nice and airy, with everything easy to see and easy to find. Some great stuff in there and lovely garden things :)

So then, I saw the teleporter to the Rain Forest holodeck and clicked on it, and was transported. I don't say 'teleported' because it wasn't just moving from one place to another, it was like moving into a different world. The decks are nice, with little private areas, benches, etc. What really appealed to me though was the feeling I got when there, it was JUST like being in a rain forest. So beautiful! I could almost smell
the jungle, and hear the waterfalls, and feel their spray...that's how nice it was. It was more than a room, or a skybox...it was art. I felt like I was in a safe and private corner of the world.

Very nice place, and I think you have found your niche :)

Wow, can't believe this thread is getting close-ish to a year old! Hope it's still alive and kicking when it actually makes it, which I'm sure it will be if it survives whatever happens to the forums in general.

Anyway I'm up for another round of visits, should get chance to look up a few folk over the next few days and the weekend. Please feel free to visit my place again too or even for the first time if you missed it originally. Don't expect any major differences though. The basic shop layout and style are pretty much the same as before... but I do now have a fully functioning prefab rezzing platform that I didn't have before, so that may be of interest to some :)

all you need to do is set a new landing point I think, then no matter what the landmark coordinates are (as long as they are on the same parcel) anyone using that LM besides the landowner will land at the landing point. I think.

Yes and I had one for a while - i might have to again- thing i dont like about landing points is that it took me two tp's to get to my workshop since it never let me go there directly. Course if it keeps customers from being buried alive, i do see its advantages...

Okies i thought i would do a little store wandering before bed and ended up at Ama's store.

The first thing i noticed what a sign for Sampiren designs. This ould be a little confusing i think if ihad just randomly looked in serch i may assume that is your stoe name. Maybe bringyour logo over to the right side of the store rather than the left?

Wandering around the courtyard area i liked the way things were set out. The pricing signs dont seem to hve a lot of infomation on them however. Maybe doing individual ad board for each item would be good with a picture on them and some iinformation (no. of prims etc). Many many many people dont know how to right click and edit to find out prim counts.

Certain things you sell like the mossy ground cover and those flowers arent easy to put a box by with price etc so maybe a board with pictures and info about them as well s an option to buy of of that?

As i walked up into the actual buildig there were these 50L signseither side. I was kind of thinking ooh everything in the store is 50L.. cool!! .... then it dawned on me as i wandered in the store it was refering to the plants... so again making sure the ads and prices are easily identified as matching items

I like your store building and layout My only comment there would be maybe have a seperate building from the clothing on its own plot, this would help with keword searching and open up your keywords forthis plot on your main directio now your landscaping stuff

Ohhh and your rainforest thing... very very cool!!! I just found it. I love the idea and ould like to see you make mroe of these hideaway areas.

I asume it is actually for sale but i couldnt find anyway to buy it hen i as up there not any information about prims etc again, the size demensions for something like that are important.

Also information about whethe the pose balls and furnire and if they are included

To avoid the 2-TP thing, you can set a landing point, and set the Teleport Routing to Anywhere. That way, people aren't forced to the landing point if they have an LM. I think the landing point is used only when TPing via the map.

The rainforest is for sale and the box is right next to the TP tp to it. Maybe I need to make the box bigger so it's perceived as a sales item... It includes all of the poses there except maybe one kiss that i sorta needed one night and just left there ;) Also included is the swing and the cuddle rug and the cuddle at the tree by the water along with the pillow there- The patio furniture again i set out one evening when talking with a friend- i shd pick those up too. It also includes the silly bobbing butterfly there and the fairy lights.

The price boxes are really just signs - most items are boxed other than the lanscaping- I will consider adding more info for those.

Samperium has a prominent sign cause Marcel is a great friend to me, he has one of my store at his place as well. I have signs on either side- one for the clothing things and one for decor- I will look at ways to make it more noticeable- thanks for the input :)

hi folks

just an update here
got the psd files, (the creator is having issues with slex not giving her her pm's so she did not see my request)

anywho, they are not quite as modable as I had hoped (wrinkles are baked right into the psd files not separate layers

*snip*

Also removed the request to have people visit the store for their opinion, thanks but I think I will pass.

photosourcing isn't a bad thing as long as it is done well. It makes for the most realistic looking things. The problem is that some people just cut, paste and slap something onto a template and it ruins it. Though most of my things are hand drawn, I do photosource from time to time when I am after something with a lot of detail. Its just another tool.

yep and that is how I am now seeing premade templates as another tool

sure some folks will take them and just recolor, and add nothing to them, others (such as myself) will add stuff, try many different things with them, and just play around with them

Im glad you got the PSD'sRha but yeah disappointing that they do their winkles onto the 'fabric' layer. I do my shading and wrinkles etc all on overlay layers so if i ever sold templates (cant see me gdoing it but hey) the layers would be all seperated out.

Im glad you are enjoying it rha but it isnt for me :) I have shading layers I use now for all my clothes that I have mae, one for my unisex stuff and another for my women's stuff. I also find it fairly simple to cute out a basic shape on the template these days and can do it in about 10 minutes. And to be honest i love doing my own wrinkles, I dont know why but i like making wrinkles hehe. So for me I wouldnt save that much time and would be ending up with something that is more likely to look similar to another persons work. If the PSDs had been betterlayered i would have considered buying one just to see how they work. I did that with another friendwe swapped PSDs of an item and it REALLY helped me develop the way I work.

I photosource some things, particularly buttons or zippers etc, but very little of what goes on my clothng is photosourced. And even the stuff i do photosource i edit the heck out of anyway hehehe adding shadows and highlights, playign with colours, changeing the shapes or the style to suit

Well, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread, there has been many trial and errors on things to try.

I think the time has come for me to back out of here, and concentrate on the business... and try many different things, as well as ideas brewing in the back of my mind.

I wish you luck with the stores, and hope that you get what you deserve and deserve what you get in life, in business, in SL... everywhere

You don't need to leave the thread Rha, just pop back when you find you have the time. Believe me, I know what it's like trying to juggle SL time, there just never seem to be enough to spare to do everything I want to.

I hope your new ideas go well. I love it when I can get submerged in new ideas and builds and know it's best sometimes just to concentrate on one thing only.

Maybe we'll see you back here with loads of new products to show us :)

Thanks Prawny! I will put mine up sometime tonight

I have been a little busythese past few days as i took the plunge and purchased an in world sculpt system. I was suck of spending money on sculpts and reaslised that this system coud pay for itself with justa few sculpts really.

I am slowly learning how it works and im doing ok. Hhehehe i made a sculpted cube today, sounds silly but its the basis for a lot of other things and mastering it was actually a challenge.

For those of you who buy sculpt packs cos you cant get your head around sculpts this might be good for you. I have so far found it relatively simple to understand the concepts etc and seeing it in 3D as you build is a huge advantage.

I also hti 500 members this week which is huge and exciting, so it has been a hugely positive week for me YAY

Hi all, sorry I don;t post in here that often, but I am still following along. :)

I just wanted to make a quick mention..I seem to be getting an increasing number of customer questions/requests in the form of PM's on xstreet. Since it doesn't seem to keep me logged in there anymore, even if I go to the site I haven't been logging in unless I plan to buy something, but after catching these last two PM's it looks like I need to make a practice of logging in there more often. I don't like the idea of questions going unanswered for a long time. There is probably a way to get them forwarded to email, which I will see about setting up.

Anyway, just a heads up to others who have things listed at xstreet...don't forget the PM system over there (like I did).

I def left Advertising Fashion because the damn stupid inane everything i can think of obnoxious habit of advert in group chat- god i hated that - i did leave a free one cause i am tired of freebies - so i am left with FashCon- any one else I have forgotten and need to reup with? Bumping my question with another question----

Am considering renting a small vendor or kiosk in (HOPEFULLY) high traffic space -

Aside from recomendations - what is considered a fair price in sd high traffic place?
For example, i was offered 3 prim for $1200 for 3 months- no negotiation - keeping in mind it is a place with traffic, however one where i personally have had abysmal luck before.
Alos- recommended Vendor Systems? I have of ocurse heard about olks using hippo- but i know there was a recent problem as well.

TIA peeps-
