I currently have 8 prefabs that need setting up in rez boxes and putting out for sale. I have most of the sales ads done, but still need to set up the rez boxes for the sales side as well as rez boxes for the rezzing plaform. Then they'll need testing before I finally release them! About getting side-tracked... I'm also thinking we're probably due a BO-Xchange update soon. There's at least one person wanting to update their ad and LM, and someone also mentioned making it full bright next time. I know not everyone likes full bright so I have added an owner only full bright toggle (touch) to the top prim with the Biz Owner Network logo on to give people the choice. So, who else needs to update their ads or LMs? I'll send this message to the group too

From: Jojogirl Bailey it is great reading this...i work totally differently. i make something...finish it...put it out for sale...done. i cant do a ton of things at once and take them into inventory cuz then i forget i made them...lol. i dont use a workshop so i dont have a bunch of things laying around. i usually just build in the middle of my store so i can say hi to people also. then of course there is no way for me to leave a mess of unfinished stuff. kinda puts the pressure on me to finish that way too.
good work E...love to see that you are having so much success!
on a side not...i have a funny thing happening in my store...there is one person who keeps buying one color of blinds...tons and tons of them....over a period of days...im tempted to send that person a note and ask what they are doing...lol are they transferable? The person might be reselling them somewhere. Are they modifyable? The person might have found that one particular color takes tint well, and they are now reselling them in multiple colors. A thought lol

oh if only it were just 18 or 19 things that are ready to go out (I lost count lost track, almost lost my mind I think LOL)
I was working on some clothes, and not sure why, but for some reason I pulled out an old club I built, well when I did that it struck me that I could reduce prims and still have the basic look to it, so went about ripping it apart, and redoing it, then that lead to oh, let's try making a dance floor, so that lead to ohhh what textures could I use, and oh my what about scripting it to animate it and make it all acid trip poster ish.... yeah the clothes sorta got forgotten
another example... this morning a client that previously received a custom skin from me, contacted me about getting the skin sent to his new avatar as he got one with his RL name (business avatar) so sure ok, but then I spotted something I did not notice previously on the skin so popped into photoshop to tweak that, oh then I had to tweak the shape again (the customer was perfectly happy with what he got, it was me that could not resist tweaking it LOL)
so instead of a 2 minutes drag and drop a box on someone, I spent 3 hours working in photoshop and fine tuning an already acceptable shape LOL
go figure
I guess eventually I will get through it (heck it has even gotten to the point, that I see folks asking about where can I get such and such, and I have to have a such and such in my inventory, done, but not out for sale yet, so I tell them, invite them over to see it, and end up making the sale LOL
*shrug*
I just can not do the structured way, that would push me to not doing anything, if I had to do it that way, just can't work like that, too rigid

I've had the same experience. My items are mod/trans so I figure the person/s either (a) have tons of windows or (b) are reselling in a yard sale, perhaps at a higher price. I have no problem with the latter as I have made a sale at the price I set and if someone purchases my item at a yard sale, my name is still on it as the creator.

From: Eclectic Wingtips I think with things like furniture it is easy you dont need to make up the ads or box it up etc unless your putting it on xstreet... once the creative stuff is done you are pretty much done. I sell on Xstreet so I need to get into Gimp to do the photo after the item is made. I also use photos of my items on the forums classified as well as including them in my group notices. Some items, like jewelry, I sell from vendors, so need photos of those. The work in Gimp still takes me a long time (getting better though), sometimes longer than making the item itself. Still working on the template idea, but since my items are so varied, haven't come up with one that "fits all" yet.

Rha dont worry about your style of doing things It sounds very similar to miine. Maybe just keep in the back of your mind a goal for the day, you dont always need to achieve it but when you do you will feel good about the day My usual goal for the day is to make onenew item and box up one new item. I also have a a weekly goal to release at least three items within the week. Overall I dont always achieve these but when i do I feel really good about it all... Hehehehe well i almost always achieve the making thing its the other bits i dont.

We are all so different in our approach to things. If I had put the time, energy and effort into my store and product like some of the big names, after 3 years I probably would have a well known name too, but alas, I suck at marketing, and do not worry about being a big name, so I just flow along. I do however have a different idea for something in mind, and on that note, I am sending a shoutout to anyone reading this.... If you are a wedding planner or deal with SL weddings in any form, please contact me about an idea I have. I have some questions regarding SL marriages and would love to get feedback on my idea as well. Thanks much (will do some networking tomorrow looking for wedding planners and making connections as it were) (and no it is not making wedding dresses or flowers and such like that, this is something I am pretty sure is not in SL at this time) anywho off the PC for awhile, will check in later

AFK Sign?
06-05-2009 07:26
I would like to spend more time actually in my store to greet customers; however I am often working in Gimp or switching back and forth and if someone is not using a typing sound or IM, I may miss someone greeting me or asking a question. Either here or on another thread someone mentioned wearing an AFK - Please leave a message sign/thought bubble. I have one that simply says AFK. Does anyone know where I could get one that asks people to leave a message? Thanks all

I received the answering machine as well, Amar I recall rezzing it and thinking "I might be able to use it later." Will have to take another look at it. Thank you for offering to send yours. Also taking a look at the link you provided. Thanks!!

I wear this when I'm in a sales location (our mall/satellite store, etc) and not paying attention to my SL viewer: ( https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=522675) It looks fantastic, and has several AFK images built in that you can choose from. I guess if you wanted your own version, you could easily make one using a hollowed cylinder, your own text, and a rotation script.

Thanks so much, Skell! That's closer to what I'm looking for (and LOVE the steampunk look as my main shoppe - where I'll be mostly - is in a Victorian Steampunk sim). Question, is the script mod? I would still love to include a "Please leave an IM" somewhere.
I'm glad I took another look at the answering machine. A cool way to see how people found our locations with a gift included for those who leave a message on that.
