From: Czari Zenovka Does anyone know if there is a script for a group inviter that notifies the owner each time someone joins the group? Right now my shop group is tiny so I just check daily, but once a group gets large, it would be very time consuming to find new members. Thanks in advance for any info on this. If you use a touch-based invitation, just have it IM you when it's touched. It's not a guarantee that the person joined, but it is an indicator of interest.

From: Jojogirl Bailey Come to one of jojo Bailey's popular marketing classes. Tonight's class will focus on the concept of using low to no cost marketing efforts inside SL. We will not be discussing theory, but will focus on what works and what does not to drive traffic and interest to your store or sim. Learn from an experienced SL business owner who makes RL money from SL. This free class is offered to help those who want to have a business in SL succeed. Meet at the couches by the main entrance.
Just wanted to share this here since so many people have asked me when my next classes would be. I will hold one tonight and next Tues as well.
Etopia Eco-Village, Etopia Island (192, 55, 22) Jojo, will there be a transcript? I am going to try to make it but might be late.

From: Czari Zenovka Thanks, Cristalle Ummm, how do I have the invitation IM me? If you can modify the script, just edit the touch_start event to instant message you with the name of the person that touched it. I have a landmark giver that I modified that does that very thing. It just says so and so touched me at [inworld rental directory name]. If you have satellite stores, it would be useful to see how effective each satellite is.

My blog, Freebies in a Virtual World, will now begin taking paid advertising. I will allow a maximum of three paid ads on the sidebar of the blog. I may decide to do some other types of things as well, but haven't decided yet. To get this started, I will give one free week of advertising to the first two people who email me at hlilliehook at gmail dot com. Please include the text you'd like included (50 words or less) and your slurl. ETA: Two free spots have been filled, thanks!

someone give me kick in the ass to get me started.... blech day
how many of you find that you make stuff, it sits in inventory because you hate doing up the ads, boxing up the items, setting them for sale, sending out the notices etc....
I have been making stuff,.,, but it just sits there LOL
I got new hair, new shoes, new boots, new dresses.... but it just sits there
(I find myself jumping from project to project... work on this a little that a little, get some stuff done, other stuff keeps me stumped)
but I always find that the post creation is what slows me down... the ads the boxing the setting out and the notices...
blech... someone kick me!!

Ummmm Yep. I have like 20 things in my inventory I want to put in my store.... at some point ahahah. I so need to hire someoen to create the ads and then advertise in all the places for me. Oh yes now that would be good, but then i still have to box it all up I finally got something released today, but only becuase I have had people bugging me all week for them (hehehe i have been wearing them all week). Garanteed though, the rest will sit there for weeks upon weeks until I can finallybe bothered again

I'm the opposite. I enjoy the organization part of boxing, writing ads, notices, etc. It's the creating I don't quite get around to doing... /me thinks of another business idea...become the post-creation person

I have actually considered hiring someone to do the post production (the ad creation mainly)
then I decide I am too damn picky, and anal, that hiring someone would be more of a headache as I would be constantly overlooking what they are doing LOL
*sigh*
well nice to know I am not alone!

I don't mind doing that work. What I hate is that it takes such a long time because there are so many things to do and check.

well I'm back, after stupidly (!!!) clicking a link someone posted in fashcon cafe when I asked where to get a free skin they were on about, I ended up with a virtuomonde virus and ended up having to do a complete reinstall on my system. And of course as these things are sure to go, the resource cd didn't have the right drivers to get back online...after jumping thru several hoops and with the help of friends (my partner called me from UK to walk me thru the reinstall cause I was scared) and an early morning trip to dad's to get the right driver, I am back online.
Which I'm not whining about the virus because I was stupid to click the link without looking at it more closely (I played WoW for a couple years and yea, you learn not to click links), it does make me want to remind everyone else that sometimes people suck so don't click links lol
and yay, I will be able to make it to the fashion show tomorrow!

bumping back to first page....
how are sales for everyone?
I saw a spurt of sales last month, but so far this month they have been pretty much not there... (really low, really really low)
shoppers, is the RL crunch affecting your SL spending?

Sales are average, they come and go in spurts The landlord we rent our second home from (God, that sounds posh...) offers free 25-prim stalls at various locations in SL to his renters, so I took him up on that yesterday. The only ground floor space left was, luckily for me, right in front of the landing point. Bonus!

I have been thinking about renting some small stores to try to get more exposure been so long since I have rented though, that it is hard finding places that actually get real people shopping there... I wonder where the popular shopping areas are....

I wonder where the popular shopping areas are.... My best spots, aside from my flagship store, are Retrology and Mischief Cove. They are probably both full though. I really have been trying to cut back on the shopping center spaces. Sales have been down a bit, but then I'm still not up to releasing new things as often as I was before I got preggers, so that may be part of it.

My sales have been the best this month since I began (and I'm still not really in "full-operation." However, I think the reason for me is that I am offering several Christmas items and those are what are selling very well, both in my satellite shop and on XStreet & OnRez. I'm actually going to make tier this month but since I know the sales increase has been holiday-oriented, still planning to tier down a bit so I don't have the pressure of *having* to create/market constantly and worry about making tier. I want a bit of spending money too.

ok..to buck the trend here...had my highest sales ever on Sun...after two days of lowest sales ever. What changed? I created more things, sent out notices to all the groups im in, stayed in my store and helped people and promoted the hell out of the stuff. Promotion consisted of a secret sale, new items, new free group gifts, two new lucky chairs im trying and a freebie ring. I was ready to chalk the low sales up to people participating in all the freebie hunts and im sure that contributed. So i just put it into high gear to get them into my store right when i was seeing lots of im traffic in all the freebie groups. They came and grabbed the freebies, but also bought items. So, dont let the economy or whatever reason get you down....you CAN buck the trends.

my sales doubled in October, and went up again by half in November. So far this month I am running a little behind, my xstreet was down for about a week and I have been working away on a few shows (was in one sunday and the sunday before that as well) plus I was working on a few gowns for a charity which took some time, so I haven't really been producing much. I did manage to get something out this week and have another few things in the works so I should be able to turn myself around. I really don't judge by how much I do a day or in a week, because it does go in spurts, I might not sell much for several days then have 3 or 4 good days in a row. I go monthly.
