I have a feeling this thread has pretty much exhausted it's self

unless some folks want to report in on how the suggestions that they tried worked out

for me I do not really see much of a difference in sales, pretty much the same

What I have seen though is more folks subscribing to my group, which is always a good thing hehe

also been getting a few custom orders (I always like those) with one of them being a major custom order, which could lead to a whole lot more!! I am excited

so, how are things going with everyone else?

Oh I am also working with gems now, and LOVE it!
I made a few pieces of jewelry previously, but simple stuff (the pendants and earrings from pearls, and the misc pendants and earrings) with a few other odd pieces, but none were gemstones.

This new stuff is gemstones and I so love the results and can't wait to get a couple more sets done then can start releasing them.

However this leads to a question.....

is it better to release multiple sets? or one set each week so as to not overwhelm folks with a list of new stuff...

should I release other items with it, like a new shirt or something, (at the same time, not part of the same package) or just a single new item?

I just put out a sculpt tree and box of xmas stuff in my store and they are selling so that is good. (tree I made myself when fiddling with sculpts and the box of stuff is misc assorted stuff I made and picked up for free) mostly stuff I made (just some textures for free)...
as for the sculpt tree it has the textures with it and I don;t care if ppl resell it or whatever hehe

I think one of the great things of this thread is/has been content creators and designers getting to know one another and the exchange of ideas. I've met so many new, wonderful people here and learned so much. It's the one thread I follow faithfully.

As for what I'm doing now - as I posted in another thread, I have two speeds: fast-forward and off. When I'm in fast-forward mode, I build, get ideas, and market my items. When I do that, I get sales.

When I'm in "off" mode (which unfortunately is a lot of the time), I prefer taking classes and spending time with my partner. Now that I realize that's ok and I'm not competing with anyone, I'm a lot more relaxed.

Think I'll go ice skating over at Etopia :)

Hi Rha,

First of all I looove the new jewlery you are doing! I'll be excited to hear results of when you release them.

My thoughts on new releases: I think there is some benefit to releasing items one at a time (maybe a new one every couple days--doesn't have to be a week in between) because this keeps people coming back to your store to check out your new items. Whereas if you released items all at once people would come once to see all the new items. Staggering them will help your overall traffic, keep people coming back, and keep them interested in your store.

Just my 2L. :)

thanks hon :) I have been having fun with the jewelry being my brain seems to be stuck on those, but I so need to get to work on the other stuff I have going. So not sure when I will get them released.

I was thinking the same thing, might be best to stagger the releases instead of all at once.

yep reaching that point myself, realizing it is ok to slow down, or not get something out right away.

Sure I am competing, we all are if we set stuff for sale... however I am not letting that part stress me, if ppl find me and buy stuff I am happy

if not, I am still happy, just poorer and having to pay out of pocket LOL

Haven't posted here in awhile- didn't have much to add of late. However- though sales have slowed these past two weeks- my traffic is doing nicely. I have formed alliances if you will, with other designers and that I believe helps generate traffic. I am trying a couple of different routes in adverts, had a new product review added - and the link in my blog for any who missed th ecomment in Biz group the other day who might want to contact the reviewer.

Competition? Nope- not really- I think my stuff is different enough that it stands on its own as does yours, or yours, or yours - maybe I am over confident and deluded but it suits me fine

Czari is right- the best part has been meeting so many folks with so man ideas - that we have different ideas is what has made this social experiment of ours so worthwhile.

I guess I view the idea of competition a bit differently

I see it as grid wide, we are all competing with each other to get the customers

sure my stuff is different, but different is not good enough (for me) I want folks to come to my store because it is more than different

I want them to get the stuff because it makes them feel good, it brings a smile, or puts a smile on another if they are giving it as a gift

and because of that I am competing with every other designer or creator out there, to entice the consumer into my store.

If they like my stuff it will sell it's self, the hardest part is getting them in the door

oh and I never check traffic, never have, now I am curious what my traffic is and if that is good *peeks at traffic*

as of right now, it says traffic is 1019

I have no idea if that is good, or bad

(no models no traffic bots, and very very seldom do I see anyone at the store longer than 2 or 3 minutes (make purchase and leave) nothing really to hang out for unless you like lucky chairs :)

I have never really put much into traffic... I am more interested in do they find the store easy to navigate, does it rez quickly enough, was the visit pleasant, will they come back, will they recommend it to others... did they find what they wanted easy enough etc

/me shrugs

my traffic is normally like 50. I make sales every day, normally 2 or three from my mainstore so im not fussed on traffic. My shop isnt huge so peoepl wont take long to find anythign so they are in and out quickly. Trafficis a good measure for soemthings, but not for if my store is donig well.

Sales are a good indicator of that. If I make sales Im doign good, if i dont Im not

exactly how I view traffic

I never look at it, I think this was the first time in at least a year that I even took notice what the number was.

I am not sure what traffic would be a good indicator of.... or what type of venue it would make sense in (maybe a hangout kind of place, to show that folks are sticking around)

By traffic I meant the actual number of peeps popping in and out as i see them- I didn't actually mean the posted numbers - sorry for confusion. I only "use" it in the sense it gives me the information folks are finding me one way or another- it is no guarantee of success- only sales are that.

Very welcome re link, rha -don't forget to check out the review lady too - I don't have that link handy but it's in my blog.

Sales have been blah- but it's cool- it will improve with time.

I will pop over to your blog and get the link, thanks :)

yeah I tend to ignore the traffic numbers on the land info, heck I rarely ever check my visitor log... heh so I am pretty clueless as to how much foot traffic I really have...

all I watch is the sales, if I get sales, I am happy

Rha & Rhianna- saw you guys posted at StyleFlash so I voted for your stuff- turn about is fair play if you please :D
Rha those are amazingly creative boots! Really nice- good luck with them. Rhianna- creative criticism, I wd suggest adding pix of your release rather than store pic so folks want to come get them.

I will be blunt amar

I will vote this time, because you voted for me

however it feels like you voted only to get a vote in return and for me that feels wrong

I liked the concept of the votes as it will show me if ppl like what I am putting out

I do not like the concept of the votes as a I vote for you you vote for me kinda thing

(sorry if the post seems snippy, it just rubbed me the wrong way and life is too short to pussyfoot around something when it strikes a nerve)

You know Rha- I try so hard to understand where you are coming from. But frankly I just don't get it and I guess this was the topper.

No I didn't vote for you 'cause I wanted your vote. In fact - please don't- forget I asked. I genuinely found your boots very pretty and creative - I know also the ones Rhianna put out are nice because I went to her store and guess what? Bought a pair! Amazing- isn't it? What people do when they like stuff. So- thank you kindly - but never mind. And you are absolutely right- life is too short and I have "pussy footed" around enough to keep wasting my time.

Hi guys.

Well first of i can't really tell if my traffic and sales have inproved yet lol as i've only just reopened lol.

I agree with both Amar and Rhaorth, yes we are competing with each other very much but we can also help each other. Many designers out there advertise each other i'm sure. So it that way we can and do help each other in our own ways.

mmmmm traffic i don't really go by that.. i sometimes check my visitor list but half the time i forget lol.

Thanks for the link too the review lady as you called her lol.. by the way it's Natalie Ao *giggle*, we have spoken before lol. Anyway i sent her some bits and i posted also on that website so ty for the link for that aswell and ty for the vote hun:)

Oh thanks aswell for sending them shoppers my way lol.. not seen them yet but you never know:)

Rha & Rhianna- saw you guys posted at StyleFlash so I voted for your stuff- turn about is fair play if you please :D

how else would you take this if it was said to you, from someone you rarely interact with???

frankly I too am tired of pussy footing around, avoiding hurting feelings and such

I already voted so too late, but I just had to say how it looked to me

I am sorry if you did not like what I had to say.

From: Amaranthim Talon
You know Rha- I try so hard to understand where you are coming from. But frankly I just don't get it and I guess this was the topper.

Not sure where I am coming from???? stop and look at your post, out of the blue, you say you saw and voted on my stuff (when you rarely even speak to me) and then say turn about is fair play... what would you think if I did that to you???

honestly you do not WANT to know where I am coming from. I am not in a good way, trying very hard to be nice, but just could not sit on my hands this time.

good luck with everything, but please if you like my stuff in the future and want to say you do, then say so, but don't vote then come here saying you voted and turn about would be fair play

FAIR play would be saying... I saw your stuff I liked it so I voted... and nothing more

You are absolutely right Rha- I failed to realize the level of interaction required to be able to participate in light banter- silly of me really to have taken posts like:
No. 2286
From: Amaranthim Talon
From: Rhaorth Antonelli

well now I know why my sales are down

on the freestyle blog, an annon poster decided to reply to a comment I made, in a post creamy was asking for feedback on regarding freebies

my stuff lack quality...

so apparently... this person stands by their word so much, they hide behind an annon tag when they posted to the comments, to pin point me, to say my stuff is unimpressive

so... now I know why my sales are down...

how about you?

<snip>

What a total ass- if you don't like something don't buy it and if you have something to say have the face to stand by your comments. Worthless opinion, Rha- while I am sure you -like everyone else- has at some point made something not up to your standards- (I thinks it's a given none of us walked in knowing) your stuff is way cool and of excellent detail and quality - I love my body jewels and still wear them to rave reviews ;)

<snip>
as enough to warrant such ill conceived behaviour.

And this one that was nothing if not insensitive to your plight.
No. 2258
From: Amaranthim Talon
Haven't seen your profile but that does sound serious. Best of luck Rha.

Well- not to worry, though, I fully comprehend the depth of the situation. As they say, I wish you well.

The rest of you folks, in case there is ever any doubt, be sure I will not spin tales or praise things that in my surely uninformed opinion do not merit praise- when you hear me say I like something it is because I genuinely do or I would not have mentioned it to begin with. I won't however, go out of my way to cut your efforts to ribbons with thinly veiled contempt in the guise of bluntness.

And my apologies to you kind folks for the harshness - I do so seldom get riled.
