For a new thread, you have to be in the main forum index, in which case you get a "New Thread" button instead of "Reply" button.

Some of that is standard lag issues. I've had a much worse time than normal the past day or two, my house is near a large popular mainland sandbox and while they normally cause me no issues at all (and may not be the issue now), what you describe can be normal. I'm ctually pretty sure it has nothing to do with the sandbox, but is some sort of server issue that maybe doesn't affect all sims.

You might try logging in at a different location that is not having lag right now. Maybe someone can suggest a map location/slurl that is operating normally at the moment.

Otherwise, just go do the laundry or something for 10 minutes and see if you are logged in normal by then.

Personally, I'll probably just do a bunch of offline stuff for the next day or two then come back and see if it isn't all cleared up again.

just wondering:

- is the amount taken in one lump sum? this could indicate your account/password being "hacked".
- is the amount sent in batches? this could indicate a bad script was at work.

I own on the mainland, but don't have an Island.

Just an FYI: Concierge service isn't limited to island owners. Anyone who owns half a region or more of mainland is also eligible.

Fingers crossed LL can get this straightened out for you.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Isn't it possible for hackers to run a password program on the website to find your password and then use it to access your account?

The only way that your Av could have paid someone money is if someone else was in as you I would think.

If you mean they stole the password via a hacking of the main SL website, I think we would have had the forums bombarded with similar cases. This does sound to me like they accessed the account and logged in to pay themselves in a single person-to-person transaction, though I guess we won't know until more details emerge. Right now it sounds limited to a specific individual account.

I sure hope this turns out well in the end, Jax. We are all rooting for you that it gets resolved and you get your money returned.

Are you using the official client or a third party client?

You definitely want to make sure the main account password is changed and that they cannot move any more assets to your account (from cc/pp) and then out again.

Third party viewers aren't really the only concern, if you have "Remember my password" checked, SL creates a handy little password.dat file that any proggie on your puter can simply snatch to get your password.

Not to end on a sour note, but while LL will act on hacking, they don't necessarily feel obligated to return any L$ that were stolen in the process :(. I hope you'll get it all returned to you, but don't see that as the only possible outcome even if they can catch whoever did it.

Although I've never tried it, brute forcing a password isn't as easy as some people think (Nor as hard as some people believe, either...), particularly if your password isn't a dictionary word, and is of a reasonable length (Hint: Minimum password length isn't as secure as one twice or three times that long). Besides, again although I've not tried it, I would be surprised if there wasn't a brute force wall on password attempts - three every ten minutes, for example.

when SL is open to all and sundry with free accounts etc. we WILL see things like this. At least if the people are traceable you stand a CHANCE but unfortunately we have a system where a 10 yearold boy could join SL as a 30 year old woman and grief then rob some poor sole....... LL answer

The issue has been resolved

You Lindens have gone but as they are worthless The cost for your loss would be $77.50 and have debited your credit card accordingly please feel free to buy more at the lindex.
Thank you for using the support portal

I appreciate peoples desire for privacy... but this privacy also includes anothers right to privately grief or steal.

Hard Times ....

I certain hope you get your money back and YES I feel that LL SHOULD refund losses that are untraceable and are caused by the softwares security... maybe there should be a secure system i.e an email when funds over i.e 10% are transfered asking for conformation.

Isn't it creepy when Lindens randomly post responses to the forums??

Doesn't that mean Lindens doooooooooooo actually read the forums and just choose to ignore ppl 99% of the time?

Why post a response to this thread and not others??

Creepy.

Just checked. History says it was a gift to Erika87 Shan for L$31,376 while I was logged out! How can it happebn if I'm not even on?

A resident of mine, said his account was compromised 2 days ago!. He had not forwarded his password to anyone else. He contacted LL....and they jointly decided to close that particular AV a/c, which meant total lost of his inventory as well as 2000 L approx.

I had to reclaim his land and set it for sale (0 lindens) to his new AV a/c, however his existing house and furniture are in his old Alt name!. He now has to replace all those items. The biggest lost were all his acquired textures as he is a builder by trade.

He maintained that his account had been hacked not involving SL password login! The fact that you have a transfer of 31k to Erika87 leads me to believe you've been hacked too in similar fashion!

I would guess it was reported by Strife to the Linden who has replied on both threads:

You might want to wait and see if the account was compomised before moving any more money to it, judging by the other post (see Rene Erlanger's post above) saying a similar case they had to close the entire account and reopen a new one under a new name. Which suggests something very very serious that simply setting a new password won't fix.
