Maybe a case of closing the door after the horse has bolted but all avenues are best blocked.

Check for Spyware,

Go through your firewall permitted website access with a fine toothed comb,

and then change it again.


Make sure your support ticked and AR have this Erika87 information and that you do not know who that is -

There's 600+ people in that group. She's going to have a hard time recalling if she ever bought anything from one of them.

Also recheck your land holdings and any other valuable assets.

I was really thinking more along the lines of the owner of the group. That in itself is suspiscious. How does a group with invite-only membership and apparently no purpose or charter get that many members? Possibly by some perfectly reaonable method, but possibly not. Creating 660 alts seems a little extreme for even the most committed fraudster, but is not beyond the realms of possibility. This gives them the opportunity to move the funds between that many accounts that it will eventually become lost (which is basically what money laundering is in RL).

The owner of the group might be a perfectly legitimate business person, so it doesn't do to jump to conlusions. But still, it's something that LL should look into. If this Erika82 or whatever they're called has transferred the funds onto someone else who is also a member of this same group etc etc then alarm bells should begin ringing.

If it was done via rezzed object and debit permissions, it would say something like 'object pays' in the transaction history.

They use the term 'gift' when you pay an avatar directly, either through their profile or the pie menu.

If you were logged out at the time it happened, I'd contact support ASAP, maybe abuse report it with whatever serious flag they have, and change your password.

Edited to add: Your transaction history might also contain the region where your av was when the 'gift' was made, that might be important info to give to the lindens as well, along with the transaction # of course.

I haven't bought anyhing form them, no. but i noticed it was the only group listed in the profile.

I sent AR, Support Tick, (both with region included) and IM'd the thief. I'm really sick.

I hope they get it worked out, be sure again to scan your computer for keyloggers/trojans etc and to check other accounts linked to your computer to make sure that Second Life is not the only place you can get hit. I'd check your PayPal account if you have one also, but may be better *NOT* to do that until after you have verified your system is absolutely "clean" as you don't want to give a keylogger any additional points of entry. Or maybe check from another computer that is more secure.

Worth a try. If they are legit, then there is a chance they may know something about the person in question (okay, with 660 members it's a long long shot, but the group, as stated, IS invite only so it's worth a try). Oh, and the owner's account is only 6 weeks old with no payment info on file too. May or may not be relevant.

Yes that was cute ^_^ However, unless they had the full cooperation of the "prisoner" they would never have revealed so much real-life information on him -- his age, his job, his hometown -- let alone expect him to stay logged in game 24 hours a day for a week so that other players could pelt him with rotten vegetables and mock him. But I am sure everyone got a good laugh out of it in the meantime and it was a fun roleplay experience.

May not be funny though for someone who's account was apparently hacked. I do hope Alicia's offer of the concierge-level support can at least connect you with a "major" Linden who can step in and help. I'm fearing though that the money is very much gone for good.

I've been remodeling my shop for about 3 months and just reopened before I ran out for lunch. I made my first sale while I was out! Then I had everything I've worked so hard to earn in SL since I started a year ago minus the remodel, uploads, and tier fir my estate property stolen before I even noticed sale. I planned on a grand re-opening tomorrow and was working on freebies to give away all weekend. I put the ban lines back up now as I don't have the heart to work on anything now and, well, shops been closed for mos. anyway right?

FYI, I happened to have run a scan when I woke up this morning as I had the day off and did some computer/house cleaning. I pulled off all spyware (nothing unusual or classified as more than small threat). So it wasn't that. Just keep an eye out. I really can't imagine how this could have happened as I don't share password info. with anyone! And I'm not a stupid avatar. In RL I live in Manhattan. I'm naturally wary of scams and have never clicked yes to anyhing that ask for money from my avatar. I read the forums and know not to. I'm just trying to cover all possibilties and that was one of the questions I saw. I also realize that the 6 week old theif with #'s in it's moniker is quite likely a bot from China or India or some other country (not a biggoted statement you may substitute with any foriegn country) and the odds of international prosecution for the amount stolen is unlikely. Again...WATCH YOUR BACKS FOLKS!

Well... I was thinking that LL could just shuffle off the offender's avatar on an otherwise idle process somewhere and keep it logged on and "sitting" on the cross with built-in animations even without the player's cooperation

Second Life could definitely use some good "name and shame" for some of these offenders!

Maybe its because im freaking out, i cant seem to find where you start a new thread. But anyway heres my problem and maybe someone out there can help me. A couple times today I have visit places where the lag was really high. In some of those instances I have crashed. Some of the time I just relog because that always seem to help. Well when I log on I get this message that my inventory is still loggin and I can move around in world and people will see me normally. Thing is I cant move, my avie looks terrible and nothing is rezz. My folders are visible but are all empty. I cant type a message.. and for all purposes I dont even think I appear online to others. I have today uninstalled and reinstalled and on two times that worked but this last time nothing. Anyone have any suggestions?
