For eyes: SkyeEyes for great photo-realistic eyes in a variety of colours. They're L$75 a pair if you buy via SLExchange, L$150 in-world.

Yes, thanks. I now have a small flashlight angled up into my face that shines a light on it. I am talking about in real life. Are you telling spooky stories? _____________________

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things. Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut. |

Sid thanks you, and notes that Body Politik is expensive. Eyes: Anyone go out of their way for eyes? I just spent a small wad of lindens on eyes. I rather like the Body Politik eyes. Tell Sid I said hi and tell him I'm mildly affronted. I have money. I can buy stuff if I want. _____________________

Are you telling spooky stories? No, just had the flashlight shinning my face as if I was in SL. You mean I look scary when I do that in RL? _____________________

For skins, I would refer you to the one who created the one I myself use. He makes both male and female skins, full custom for 3k. Trust me, the price is worth it. Another thing is, that if you have him make a custom skin for you, you are the only one that will ever be seen with that skin. For your own custom/exlusive skin, you tell him exactly what you want and he will tweak it for you until you are satisfied. Oh, the name. Dare Munro. He does amazing work, and does everything from skins, to clothes, furniture, to prefabs and SIMs.

I have a similar one, but it doesn't have the . . um . . lower private bites. So you've seen Love's bites? Are they like hickeys or teeth marks? |

I am starting to acquire a small collection of skins, since I've got seven regularly used shapes for my avatar and they all want their perfect fit.
![]() So far, the skin that has performed best over the widest variety of shapes has been the really versatile PixelDeep skin. It was the first one I bought, and I think its just amazing value for money. There's five skintones, and with each skintone purchase (which is around 1300, I believe) you get up to 6 brow colours (less for the darkest), 5 makeups (one makeup free, which is the holy grail for me) and 3 'carpet' styles. The only problem with that skin is that it has spoiled me; I keep wishing that other skin creators would also do it the same way and give you at least all the brow colours and carpet styles (that PixelDeep also includes several makeups is even more incredible, but I can definitely see why most don't) when you purchase a specific tone and makeup. It makes me grumpy when I find a really nice skin and it doesn't have the brow options that I need. Of course, the moddable brow option (even if the rest of the skin isn't moddable) is a great solution to the problem too, but so few people do that. In addition to PixelDeep, I am also using Pandora from Adam n Eve, Tete a Pied (works very nicely on one of my shapes, not so well on the rest, and I love the option to have dark lips and no eyemakeup), Tuli (the freckled, almost make-up free version of series 2 is gorgeous), Eva from Skin Within (usually, heavily photosourced skins do not play nice with my shapes, but several of Skin Within's work great) and Mellie from BlowPop (another great, make-up free option). |

Joy, with an ETD Patricia 'do' is a little cracker. I love her to bits. That's 600L skin and hair! Skin Within were doing a full-mod freebie a couple of weeks back. Was that just an introductory offer? _____________________

Skin Within were doing a full-mod freebie a couple of weeks back. Was that just an introductory offer? As far as I know, there's still a freebie of her first skin available at the new sim, but during the week after the launch of the new sim she also gave out a freebie of the Eva, one of her newest. That offer ended a few days ago, however. |

You are definitely slutty in the best possible definitions of the word. Dirty, hot, and a little scary, but in a good way. I'd like do awful things to you, but I'm pretty sure you'd snap me in two like a twig and leave me cross-eyed, dizzy and confused. I'm giving you a 9.8, tied for the top rating ever given. Almost off-the charts slutty. Shame on you and congratulations. -- Trout

As a skinmaker myself I've seen probably well over 1000 different skins, and I'm pretty sure that there's no such thing as a best skin. Different skins have different strengths and weaknesses.
My biggests problem with the big names is that their new collections are pretty much the same as before, a little tweak here, a small change there, but nothing really fresh. I have bought older CS, Naughty, Good Life, Avalon, Adam n Eve, etc. skins before I made my own, and I've seen their new collections, too - I don't think I'd buy any of those new ones, cause they won't really change the way you look. (Umm... Actually my biggest problem is that these topics only make the already big names even bigger - the new and small companies like DLicious, Alessandra or my PBC don't really stand a chance, regardless of the products' overall quality, simply because only a few people know us...) But to get back to my point: there were people who paid 1000L$ for that skin a few months ago - meanwhile others don't pay 800L for that skin (and shape and eyes) now: Perfect for some - terrible for others. |

I can't speak for the other skins, but I see quite a few refinements and changes between the CS Charmed and Vogue lines, particularly when I switch back to Charmed after wearing Vogue for a while...I look a little less defined overall in the Charmed. Actually, there are a couple things I prefer about the Charmed line - softer tummy, better feet, lighter shading on the back and bum - but the faces and makeups are generally much nicer. Are there similarities? Of course. The same brain and talent are behind both lines, and those are what keep me loyal to the brand. 99% of the time, I don't WANT my av to look drastically different when she changes skin...I want her to look like 'me,' with varying makeup styles. I did think your newest ads looked very nice, though...you've obviously been working on improvements. ![]() Go, Pelthar, go! ![]() _____________________

Skin to me has proved above anything else that one-for-all simply does not exist. I was browsing at Promenade Mall last night and spotted a model wearing a bikini. I looked back and forth along the whole row of featured models and nowhere was there such a fabulous display of just everso slightly tanned skin, varying in tone throughout, rosy cheeks and the merest smidgeon of eye shadow. Fantastic!! Blew all the other models out of the water. When I created my short, cuddly blonde I found Panjen. I don't think I've seen Panjen on anyone else in-world. Anne puts a strong plus point for someone's range being pretty alike throughout but for me, it's one of the biggest turnoffs. 9 times out of 10 I shall find some particular aspect I don't like, too bushy eyebrows, too strong eyeshadow or the ever-present anorexic ribs!! But once I've identified that minus pint, that's it. The entire range is a no-go. Only rarely has a creator actually put enough variety through their range to keep me looking. At the end of the day, I think everyone has to do their own hard work and look for themselves but sadly most people are going to get drawn by the traffic numbers or the big island sim/ _____________________

I think nobody has mentioned Lila Skins yet. One of my favourites amongst the skins I've seen, and the one I've used most myself. Has even one without make-up for those who prefer it that way.

You are right Pelthar. It is up to us to spread the word and I totally agree with your comment on a skin being good for one, but not another. Skin to me has proved above anything else that one-for-all simply does not exist. I was browsing at Promenade Mall last night and spotted a model wearing a bikini. But once I've identified that minus pint, that's it. The entire range is a no-go. Only rarely has a creator actually put enough variety through their range to keep me looking. At the end of the day, I think everyone has to do their own hard work and look for themselves but sadly most people are going to get drawn by the traffic numbers or the big island sim/ Maybe someone should make a "best unknown skinmakers" thread too. ![]() By the way, I agree - the small range of the skins is a letdown for most of the smaller businesses out there. The primlimit, the upload charges and other costs prevent us to upload all the stuff we have on our HD, for example I could have at least 300-400 different skins in my store by tomorrow with some help, a higher primcount and a higher budget. Our only plus at the moment is the chance to make people more unique as you obviously can't see our stuff everywhere in-world, but that's also a problem - people don't see our stuff in-world, hence they won't even come into our stores cause they don't know us. Ann: Thank you, actually I really hope that not only my ads improved, but my products too. ![]() |

Inner thigh seam putty anyone?
10-31-2007 09:24
SPEAKING of skins ...again, sort of a skin/avatar issue,
when is SL or maker going to come up w/ an inner thigh seam putty? For a place that is so skin revealing, it sure is unsightly! I'm a tall avatar, so it's apparent prob more so, but see this in default size avatars too. For the most part I try to wear things that don't show that off, but would love to see a fix! _____________________
