Insolence skins are a very nicely done photorealistic skin. And they come with a shape in the packs.

And I will second for Naughty. That's what I wear.

I would have to say my favourites so far are Naughty, Rac and Skin Within!

My av is quite curvy and they're my favorites too....as evidenced by the fact that I own all the Charmed and *almost* all of the Vogue in my preferred skin tone.

Ann, I love CS too...but I don't find sufficient difference between the Vogue and Charmed lines to collect a lot of both. The only difference that I see is the Charmed skins allow you to adjust the overall skin tone, while the Vogue line doesn't.

What other differences am I missing?

You'll have better luck if you describe what you look for in a skin :).

Drawn vs "realistic"
Tan options (ghotic, normal, tanned, dark, etc)
Mod vs no-mod
Shading
"Grooming" or "bits" (if you happen to care about that)

Also keep in mind that your skin and shape go hand-in-hand when it comes to how you look.

Ok, how about for my male alt? Who makes the best skin for men?
best drawn, best realistic; I do not know enough about mod/no-mod skins; grooming - for a man, I'd like one where I can find a skin that doesn't have any facial hair - all the ones I saw seemed to come with permanent fuzz, badly shaved, etc. I might just have to find the least "naughty" female skin that goes for the "fresh/innocent" look (little to no make-up) for the man skin just to get away from facial hair. That or go with the make up and say that I'm an '80s rock-star. And I'd get really long messy hair. And an animation where my head slams hard down and up down and up. Sorry, got slightly distracted. Still want to find male skin for alt.

Actually I find most skins have faaaaaar too much make-up for my liking, eventually settled on a skin from CryoGen for the face alone.

That is one of the things I love about Sin Skins (people keep mentioning price, I am fairly certain that I paid 500L for the Sin Skins skin). A huge range in many skin tones. Little to no make-up to . . . um . . more make up.

i searched forever, and exotica was the only place that had an athletic looking skin i wanted.
in my opinion the best skins out there atm, not perfect, but close to that :). cost 4k L$ but thats the only "item" i use all the time, so it´s worth it (my opinion) :D

I do not normally wear the freckled one, but I recall each skin purchase comes with 3 or four skins. Mature, Freckled, um less Mature? and maybe a fourth.

Oh, I see. Yes, the skins on display do not have freckles, if I recall correctly, but the skins I have bought from Sin Skins have had a freckles skin included.

I'm compulsive? :)

I want every makeup Starley's pretty head can conceive, plus the shading is a bit different, particularly on the face. I think Second Style Fashioista actually did a comparison of the two skins a few months ago.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Lexxi - check out Million Dollar Skin Labs. They have a pack that has 5 versions of the skin - some with facial hair and some without. :)

For men's skins, I still think Max does the best... I think the shop is called Body Politick now, something like that. Beautiful work. Naughty does good men's skins too, although you see them everywhere... Aitui does nice ones if you like more of an unusual/emo look.

For women's skins, I have a lot by Celestial Studios and Canimal... my past favorite was by Gala Phoenix, currently I'm switching between several in Naughty's Zoe line.

There are a few places I'd buy skins from (Cake, RaC) if you were able to buy singles, but I don't need a whole pack, so I don't.

My brand new alt (who cannot communicate in this forum) thanks Klipang Torok and Ilianexsi Sojourner. I, through this alt, will check those places out. :)

Oh, and I probably need to check out some of these other female skins out for myself. I had a bunch of demos from others, but I have only ever worn Sin Skins (at first the "fresh" skins in the 30 day newbie pack, and then later the "costly" versions (I think I have 3 of a certain skin tone (Sol I believe), 1 of the darkest skin tone (name of which slips my mind at the moment) and 1 of the "other" exotic kinds (a mix of redish skin and another color, with freckles)). Oh, and I finally joined that group, the Sin Skins one, and I like their group title (I'd rather be naked). :)

I'd like to see you in a human-toned skin, but with leopard spots instead of freckles.

I'm happy with the skin I got at Million Dollar Skin Labs. For L$900 I got two copy/mod skins without facial hair, one with chest hair and one without. I think they also had various other combinations in addition to the 5 pack Klipang mentioned.

Now I need to get a skin for my female alt. I like Robin Sojourner's skins but I was reluctant to spend more for my alt than I did for my main avatar. But I'll probably buy it anyway as a way of thanking Robin for the use of her UV templates.

I'm still trying to find a clean shaven male skin that does not look like a movie star, if anyone knows where I can find some high quality "normal guy" skins please let me know!

I have a problem with Minnu skins, no matter what I try I can't get my nose to look like any of the models there. I wonder if they are photoshopped or had special lighting to pretty them up in the photos.

I myself have a gala skin and love it. But the makeup on the gala needs improvement.

I was just checking out the Gala skins and like them but when you demo them,
you only get a couple of examples of makeups and none in the ones I wanted to try, so that was kind of disappointing. Just enough to peak your interest, they are great!
What catches your eye on the wall doesn't always look good on your shape & who wants to blow 1 k on "oh humm That didn't look like I thought!"

I bought a good skin from Aman, although just changed to to a new one from Naughty - Naughty (57, 219, 24), which is better (the skin tone is mod, wheras the Aman one was not)....

Although not the cheapest (about 1800 L$), I'd recommend either of them.

and I've only one gripe... is this the year of the bubble butt/breast or what? seems every artist has taken to shading these parts like cartoon balloons this year....

I've found this in some clothes I've bought, too. Shopping for an 11 year old is a bit tough at times, being too old for little kid clothes and, uhm, too "small" for some adult clothes.

Surprisingly, the nicest skin I found so far was in a freebie pack (the name eludes me) Same with my hair. I've not spent a single L$ on my looks. :)

I haven't had a chance to demo them yet (I'm currently a tiny cyborg leopard), but the new Tuli skins look great:
