The calendar is supposed to be about the ladies of these forums. Not about the guys. My unsolicited opinion is that you all should either not have commentary, or write your own blurb telling us all a little about yourselves. It would be more personal for each of you and no one can be bothered about what one of the guy did or did not say about them.

That's my 2L, but it is your project so take it for what it is worth.

Need probably isn't the right word... Maybe you can find another home for her?

Lol and yet you could probably cut the head off of a real flesh and blood chicken, pluck it, cook it, and feed it to your family.

July 23, Stage 17, The Queen Stage of this years Tour de France. 210.5km or 130.8miles of vicious climbs and dizzying descents. The third and final one the fabled Alpe d'Huez.

Team CSC, is considered by many to be the best pro cycling team. They are current leaders in the team competition at the Tour. Their rider Frank Schleck started the day wearing the Yellow Jersey of the overall race leader and his brother Andy, also on CSC, the White Jersey of the best young rider.

CSC took control from the beginning, setting a fast pace and spreading the field out behind them. The Schleck brothers and the team's other contender, veteran Spanish rider Carlos Sastre stayed in the slipstream while their teammates kept the pace too fast for any serious attacks.

At the start of the last climb, most of the support riders of the other teams were gone and the last of the CSC teammates also fell away exhausted, leaving Sastre and the Schlecks on their own.

Immediately Sastre attacked and only Russian Denis Menchov of Team Rabobank was able to follow. But moments later the group which included all the tour contenders brought them back. Sastre attacked again immediately and was able to get away. For the rest of the long climb there were many attacks but thanks largely to the tactics of the Schlecks, Sastre continued to extend his lead and eventually win in 6hours'07'58" and move into the Yellow Jersey. In the overall race he is 1min.34sec. ahead of Cadel Evans, who is capable of making that time back in the individual time trial stage on Saturday.

Also of note American Christian VandeVelde of Team Garmin-Chipotle came in with the same time as Evans, 2'15" behind Sastre. VandeVelde is also a very good time trialer. He's currently in in 6th place in the general classification, 4min. 41Secs behind Sastre, and so still has some chance of a podium finish at end of the Tour in Paris.

Great update Kaimi.

Wanna hear something sad? I saw this pic and my only thought was "wow, I bet that person spent a buttload for that land"

Yeah, I felt kind of drained after watching the whole thing. Makes you kind of proud to belong to the same species as these guys.

Lol well we are all SLer's aren't we? Seriously the coverage of the Tour is worth watching just for the breathtaking scenery and today might have been the best.

Yes, if I remember correctly, there were bumps along the way in the beginning of the Hangout project, but it all worked out and is a fabulous place now.

Do we honestly expect a group of people to not have some different ideas about how things are done? If we expect those differences, is it not okay to speak about them? Difference of opinion is not necessarily the same as "not getting along", except when people cannot handle someone else thinking differently than them.

If we are truly expecting people to never voice any dissent then these forums are going to become quite dull indeed. There just seems to me to be too much over-reacting here lately - too many people taking things personal that should not be taken personal.

I am disappointed also, as this should have been a 'discussion'.

I do aplogize for flying off the handle a bit, I rarely do that. I guess I'm willing to do the consensus building thing in RL, when there are important issues at stake, but TBH, I sometimes find it exhausting.

You know, though Lil, there's about 20 women involved in the Calendar. Well, 19 now, unless we can persuade Brenda to come back. Apparently 3 or 4 of those women have have a vision about what the rest of us should do. You floated your ideas a week or more ago, there didn't seem to be much support, and we all went our merry ways...planning our particular page. Then, I guess, the organizer in you needed to bring it up again. I thought the phrase "go back to..." in your post was a bit unfortunate since your vision had never been adopted, but meh.

Then, a couple others felt it appropriate to share their vision, too.. Of course, those of us who just wanted to develop our own vision of our page are mostly silent. At this point, I'm feeling, wait just a minute! There are 15 or 16 other people here happily working away along the parameters Oryx spelled out and seemed to have been adopted by consensus. Why do we have to start over again? Then I lost my temper, which I apologize again for.

It's not that I don't expect different people to have different ideas. I just would rather not have the same discussions multiple times. I know that's not realistic, given human nature. Yesterday, unfortunately, it just really annoyed me.

So during the time I've been writing this post, dealing with a contractor bidding on painting my house, and answering the phone with work related issues, I see some of the controversy seems to have been smoothed over. So, sitting here thinking about just deleting it, and not wanting to fan the flames any more, but you know, I'm just as entitled to my opinion as any one else. And I want the opportunity to explain why I was a bit angry.

So my vote is let each page stand as it's own project. Blurb, no blurb, whoever writes it or not.... We're all individuals here, and each or us has their own creative spark. Let's honor that please.

And Brenda, please come back.... I'm not going to let my temper get the best of me again.

OK...my 2 cents worth (that's about..3.7 lindens, I think :p):

The calendar, blurb or blurb-less is fine by me. I'd prefer blurbs, but really, either is fine.

So, as a reminder, here's what Oryx posted (edited a tad for brevity)

From: Oryx Tempel

Deadlines: PHOTO DEADLINES: August 15 to oryxtempel@yahoo.com. I was thinking that upon receipt of all months, I would send a copy of the appropriate month to the appropriate guy. Guys can say whatever they want, as long as it's roughly PG.

Gents, if you want a particular month, speak up to either me or Maureen. Otherwise, if you just want to write a caption, let us know and we'll draw names/months out of a hat.

CAPTION DEADLINES will be August 22, whereupon each guy will have sent me his caption. I'm not going to do any editing of content; that would be super uncool. All I'm doing is typing them in as a new layer to the appropriate photo.

MY DEADLINE will be August 29. Which is good because I'm flying to Indiana on August 29.

Suggestions were raised to make a PDF version, so that people can make these shots their computer desktop wallpapers if desired? Thoughts?

**************************

Yes, I think we should have a PDF version.

If we are going with the blurb version, anyone who wants to write a blurb, either generally or specifically about one of the calendar girls, would you please PM me or Oryx? We will collect the names, see how many we have, and get in touch with you.

If we don't get very many takers, then we'll sort that out, too.

As far as the commentaries are concerned, I imagined they'd be nice/funny ones, commenting on how cute/cool/sweet/sexy/whatever the pic of that month's pin up girl is (i.e., more about the pic). If a bf/gf writes up the commentary, fine by me. If a stranger pens it, fine by me, as long as it is complimentary. :)
