BTW for those who are interested, I solved my Whale problem by digging a whale pond :)
The answer is so obvious, now you tell me.

Well, since you don't really post here, it is probably fitting that you not ever have a clue of what is really going on here.

I haven't even come close to reading every post, and I've actually made a pretty good effort to keep up.

That ends today! OK, it doesn't. But as of today, I won't be around as much for about a week or so, I think. Today is my last day at this job, and as is my custom, I never take days off or vacations (because I'm an idiot) and tomorrow is my first day at the new place. I spent some time arranging my office over the weekend, but there's a LOT to do, and I still have all my work to do. The vast majority is going with me, so I'm not slowing down a bit. Yeesh. I'm going to give myself an ulcer before the week is through.

I went with the nicer desk - thanks for the advice from everyone! Apparently nicer=heavier. That thing weighs as much as my truck. It looks like wood, but I'm pretty sure it's made entirely from dark matter. I think I popped something important deep inside me trying to move it. Can you get a hernia on your soul? Not to mention they turn off the AC on the weekends and this was the hottest weekend of the year so far (in my South facing office). I'm buying a fan.

ok - back at it. More work, less goofing off.

I don't even want to THINK where a whale might have bits hairy enough to be shaved.

Nope. Not gonna go there. No.

Argh!

Thanks, Crazod.

And they might think it is not very nice to spend a large amount of your time playing in the SL forums during your first few weeks there.

What do you charge? Or do you do it just for thrills? My condiments (and a lot else in my kitchen) could use a bit of organizing.

They might not notice. It's a weird computer situation over there, although I suspent they might figure it out if I eat up all their bandwidth. I get paid to produce, so as long as I'm producing, it's all good. It's sort of a velvet handcuffs situation. I can do as I please with my time, which means all I do is work. If I took time off, the work wouldn;t get done and I couldn;t afford to take time off, so I don't take time off so I can afford to take off the time I don't have time to take...(head asplodes). I haven't taken a legitimate vacation in years and years. My last employer counted the time I took off for my dad's funeral as a vacation. They actually asked me if I had had a nice break and told me they expected that I was all refreshed and ready to get some work done when I came back. Bunch of sociopaths.

said stuff that sounded a lot like work

hang in there. congrats and good luck! just think, in one week from now you'll be all settled, have a routine, and know just exactly how many hours you can screw off in this forum without anyone noticing.

it's not my style... but i say try to set the bar low, so they don't expect too much... so you CAN be here more.

That is way wrong, in a few ways.

Every time you talk about your job I imagine it's something like the law firm on Eli Stone.

Good luck in your new work situation. I'm soooo glad you're done in that hellhole, and really hope people are nice and more human at the new place. :)

I think random tornadoes, thunder and rain storms, and blizzards would be awesome.

Happy Monday everyone. Happy Canada Day to all
us Canadians out there!!

And on the note about thunder and rain....one of my neighbours has a cool cloud thingy (it's a technical term!) that follows you around her land and blasts you with rain and lightning. I love that thing! I've "trespassed" on her land just so that thing can chase me around. I'm gonna get me one of those. hehehehe

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Thanks for all the well-wishes (and the flowers). Just taking a break from tying up loose ends. I'll start boxing stuff up this afternoon. The new job is with a colleague I have known for quite a while. I feel like I know what to expect, since he's a friend, and it should be a change from what I've dealt with over the past several years.

Phew! All this administrative crap I have to do to get moved over there is tedious! I'd be much happier if I could just yank my pictures off the wall, box up my stuff and disappear.
