I suggested that in a couple posts yesterday in one of the threads about AU but no one seemed to be concerned about the idea that it could be AU that is poised to take the place of these forums. Even I, myself said *nnaaawwww* to my own idea. I do think it's certainly possible though. (And, will go on record as saying that so far I like AU, it's fun) I don't do FB in RL but I kind of find it fun for my av.

Actually he didn't. He quit before his contract was up. But I'm sure he did keep the residuals.

I've had fun playing with it as well and I don't FB in rl either. If LL plays their cards right, it has the potential to be a nice tool to help cement the community aspects of SL outside of "the game" and grow their business. With anything beta though, it has MANY issues and I think the big announcement was quite pre-mature before they were able to nail down some of the technical integration problems and its impact of SL policies. People have many valid concerns about it right now but I think they will eventually work through them. It's not for everyone but has some interesting potential as long as you're aware of its limitations and potential pitfalls in its usage.

Since I am sooooooo far behind on forums stuff -- what the hell is Avatars United?

Is this the same calandar as the one with the horror movies from ages ago? I can't remember if I ever sent my pic for that one.

Neither did I! I was hanging out last night, napping while culling old notecards from inventory, and afterward I decided to explore a bit. Next to one of the dressing-room teleport signs, I saw another sign for the photo studio. If I remember right, I think the sign is next to the door to the back room.

The studio itself is up on a platform, and is one of those big ball things that you stand in. It has different backgrounds, and there is a free hud there that you can use to select poses and rotate your av. I don't usually do these kind of pics as Ava, but it will be really useful for taking pics of my alts once I finally get around to outfitting them (they both exist mainly for playing dress-up).


Later I experimented with the hangout's radio and dance ball. I don't ever socialize inworld, so I'm very much the noob with stuff like this.

The photo studio at the hangout is where I take most of my piccies. Its been there for ages.

That's handy to know as I might need to do some vendor shots and I just use my own homemade studio so I might give it a go.

I'll do a month...could you re-post the particulars so I'll know what I'm doing?

I do actually consider getting prim hair, but (a) I like going primless and (b) I hate hate HATE the way most longer hair cuts into the av mesh when your head moves around.

I'm probably not the best one for theme pics, as I have about three outfits (winter, summer, and in between). I did just get that awesome Mord Sith outfit for my shapeshifter alt, though, and she has a shape/skin that looks like me. Would that do?

If so, let me know when the deadline is, and if you want the full-rez pic (about 3000x2000) or something scaled down.
