One of my favorite events all year is the "Scottish Walk" in Old Town Alexandria (Virginia). It's their Christmas parade, always held the first Saturday in December.
One bagpipe band after another...AND all those men in kilts. ohhhh, I'm in heaven!

oh no! I'm sorry about your car!! ![]() More than anything, I'm just disappointed that my weekend plans are blown. I was going to have some fun quality time with family. Now I have to stay home and do something productive like cleaning. Or I'll fritter my time away on teh forumz. Probably that. ![]() |

Anyone else feel like they just chugged back the Linden Kool Aid with this Avatar United stuff? ![]() i have a feeling it will suck me in... I would love to believe you, but I'm so accustomed to having my heritage mocked. ![]() It's actually kind of funny... I find SO many noises painfully unpleasant, but bagpipes (played well, of course) are heaven to me. Especially in a full pipes-and-drums band, I could listen to that for hours. I like the accordion too. Go figure. Anyway, I'll be out for a day or two, so feel free to ridicule me in my absence. ![]() I love the bagpipes! Or not. Car died. :( I was awakened at 6:30 am this morning by a very loud crashing sound. My car died also today. Murdered. Hit and run. See below. ![]() Might be hard to see in this picture below, but the small dark pick-up truck that slammed into my car did so head on. As can be seen, barely, if you look at the marks on the ground. The marks left in the sand. Two lines going into car. One line curving away. That curving away is when he backed up and speed away at a high rate of speed. ![]() My car resting, roughly an hour, two hours later, as seen below. Two things to note. One: The force of the crash was such that my car was slammed backwards into the sewer ledge. The rear wheel hubcap is bent (only the fact the car is resting against the curb is really visible in this picture). And two, that the windshield blades are down. I put them up because I had heard that there was going to be snow fall, as I normally do. The force of the crash caused the blades to fall. ![]() Rental car, picture taken 5 hours after my car was hit. ![]() If nothing else, I wanted to show how the snow blanketed the area quickly this morning. I do not normally have a shot taken before the snow even starts. _____________________

These pictures tell the story, alright. I hope you can get it all sorted out with a minimum of time and effort. I know even the minimum is a drag. If the accident had happened when the road was slippery it would be more understandable, as it is it looks like someone was going way too fast around the corner, probably drunk. Of course there's no excuse for flleeing the scene. Thank-you. I hope it is sorted out with minimum time and effort also. So far it has taken all of this morning, and part of the afternoon. Insurance informed online, filled out paperwork. Police came by, did their thing. Part of filling out the virtual paperwork with the insurance company included information about how my rental car will be paid for by them. And press these buttons here. Now use this reservation number to get your car (rental place was supposed to call within two hours, they never called, I eventually called them; it is one of those that sends you a car to pick you up - that took slightly more than an hour waiting by the door to pick me up after they told me the car was coming right away). The roads were not slippery from rain or snow. It occurred about 3 to 4 hours before the snow started. I didn't take pictures of it, but I traced the lines in the sand back. The pickup was playing games. Spinning in the circle area, the cul-de-sac, before taking off at a high rate of speed . . . and ramming me. Backing up, and fleeing. I noted above that the roads were not slippery from rain or snow, but they were at the time slippery from the sand. The sand, by the way, that remained from the blizzard in December, not put out for the snow flurries that had been expected today. Not very slippery, though, if driving at a normal speed. Oh, and to clarify, pictures can be deceptive. I didn't even notice until you made the comment. It does look like the road moves around a bend and comes down and past my car. In actuality, that area in front of my car is a circle area. Houses all around. A cul-de-sac (if I'm using the term correctly). _____________________

/me makes a mad dash thru the thread, waving to all and wishing everyone a good weekend.
I don't even know which way is up right now. I had a co-worker call mid-week and hire me to do some contract work for a client of his, so I've been working all day and then working off and on in the evenings on the secondary gig. It will be a nice $$ bonus when complete, but for now it is just a lot of "trying to get stuff done as fast as possible" thing. *hugs* to all _____________________

Lol but I'm pretty sure that age-wise I'm not in that demographic. I wasn't paying close enough attention to the Tiger Woods thing. I only got to the "female" part of the demographic profile. _____________________

I don't envy all the pain and bother you'll have to go through getting this sorted out. I hope they catch the person/people who did it.
