What, no more waffles EVER?! Please say it isn't so, and you're just on a restricted diet for a while.

Looking over his films on IDMB, I think I can honestly say that I have never seen a single film by him. Although I did see the remake of Little Shop of Horrors -- does that count?

Actually, though, his films based on Poe look interesting. And The Suicide Club. Maybe I'll look those up.

I've never really been much attracted to horror, and seeing and being absolutely stunned by The Shining years after it came out kind of confirmed my inability to handle the genre. Although I like ghost stories. I loved "The Others," for instance. Oh, and I don't mind clever genre-bending horror, like Alien.

A lot of it comes down to just not liking onscreen gore very much.

i can't imagine a situation that would cause me to eat waffles again. they are just nonsensical carbs and oils and sugars. maybe once a year, if that makes you feel better. so maybe a year from today i'll consider it as a special treat (that will haunt me for the rest of the day and remind me why i shouldn't eat nonsensical carbs, sugars and oils). but they do taste yummy, no doubt about it.

Scylla, Blackula walks into the sunlight in the end of the movie because the woman he loves is dead.

Er...but so is he. I mean, he's a vampire, right?

OMG I think I'm channeling Pep

:p

They have pills for that now, I think.

I'd be seriously interested in a sort of informal poll about body humour and gender. My perception, and I may be entirely off base about this, is that, on the whole, men like jokes about fart, poop, and pee a lot more than women do.

I remember this coming up somewhere else, in a quasi-serious conversation, and someone saying that they thought it was because men don't menstruate or get pregnant, and so find their bodies much more "alien" than women do.

Well, hold on there a second.

First you said (wistfully, I thought) that the only thing you could eat of Mo's breakfast was the fruit, and that you'd miss waffles.

Now you're dissing them and saying you'll maybe have a bite of one once a year to make ME happy.

Which is it? Do you have diabetes/obesity/glandular problems/allergies that KEEP you from eating what you really love, or are you a Nutrition Nazi?

I'll still love you either way, but I need to know in order to properly bestow sympathy and cookies...or not.

Indeed not . . . as in, I've never been to one.

In hindsight, it would have been fun to try, just for the experience. But I think the last one near me closed down years and years ago.

ETA: Wait!! I lie. I HAVE been to one . . . in SL. I went with a guy friend, who insisted we watch a movie in one of cars. Except that, as I recall, the pose balls didn't seem to actually involve much "watching" . . .

No idea where that was, though. Anyone know of a good drive in theatre in SL?

They're classics, plus most of them star Vincent Price, which is great. Although if you're expecting precise adaptations of the Poe stories, you may be disappointed. "The Haunted Palace" only uses the name, it's based on an H.P. Lovecraft novel.

Dr. Evil: Our early attempts at a tractor beam went through several preparations. Preparations A through G were a complete failure. But now, ladies and gentlemen, we finally have a working tractor beam, which we shall call... Preparation H.
[Scott snickers]
Dr. Evil: What?
Scott Evil: Why don't you just call it operation ass-cream, you ass.
Dr. Evil: I'm sorry, did you say you want some ice cream?
Scott Evil: Yes, I'd love some chocolate ass-cream.
Dr. Evil: Perhaps later.
Number 2: Dr. Evil, I love your plan.
Dr. Evil: You do?
Frau Farbissina: Yah. It's a really good plan.
Dr. Evil: Yes Frau, on the whole Preparation H feels good.
[Scott resumes snickering]
Dr. Evil: What is it now?
Scott Evil: No, I totally agree with you. Preparation H does feel good... on the hole.

One of the 50's diners/dance halls had a nice drive in.

Jack Nicholson was in several of Corman's 60's movies.

Well, yeah, but after he walks into the sunlight he's REALLY dead.

And someone had driven a stake into the heart of his lover, so she is also REALLY dead.

OMG . . . that's so sad!

Seriously???? :(

Yes, seriously. Someone is about to off him (in some anti-vampire way) and I think he says, "Don't bother" and he trudges up the steps into the light, decomposing the whole way.

And yeah, I didn't think the farts and beans scene in Blazing Saddles was funny either. Farts can be funny, but that scene just didn't do it.

Honestly I agree with you. I think the very first time I saw it when I was a kid there was a feeling of "omg they didn't just do that in a movie" but it certainly never made me ROFL.
