i semi decorated. i'm not really going to be "here" for xmas so i didnt see a reason to go all out - but i do love christmas and how it makes people 'different' - and i love the music and the romance of it and meaning behind it all... so i had to decorate a little (okay, a lot. just no tree and no outside lights).

in my entire life, i've not once spent christmas without decorating a tree. that seems sacrilegious or something, and i am a very spiritual person (deep in there). i think that will be the most sad part this year - or maybe not being able to see my kids and watch my kitties play in wrapping paper. ok, i'm gonna go cry in the corner now. :(

but wait - i do have new and exciting adventures planned, and that makes up for the little sad face i made above. while christmas will be bittersweet this year, i maintain that there is only forward. and so far, i have no regrets about my decisions so i suspect the new adventures will be as wonderful as the memories of ago. and that makes me smile. :)

Dudette, I know what you mean. There was a Christmas, many years ago, when I wasn't going to be in town, so I didn't get a tree. It felt weird, even though I wasn't even going to be home!! And THEN!! At the very last minute, the trip got cancelled. So there I was, with no tree. :(

BUT!! A friend stopped by to lend me a little table top tree which had lights and everything. I can't believe how happy that made me. :)

I just know you'll have a wonderful holiday season regardless, so enjoy enjoy enjoy. :)

I'm sure that although its a big change, you'll still have a good Christmas this year. :)

*huggles* for the sad face, but lots of smiles for the new adventures (and a few more hugs just for the sake of it ;))

With 2 spastic dogs in a small apartment, we're totally skipping any decorations. Besides, I'm already over it. We went to the mall yesterday just to see what's what, and if I hear ONE. MORE. CHRISTMAS. SONG either in a store, bank, or on the radio, I will simply scream. I told Trout that I'm converting to Another Religion just so I can officially bitch about Christmas. (I'm not really any particular religion now, anyway.)

At the risk of sounding like a scrooge, I'll admit it doesn't take long for me to get tired of traditional Christmas songs.

However, there is one contemporary, very non-traditional, one that always lifts my spirits.

Robert Earl Keene's "Merry Christmas From the Family".

Mo - As I'm digging in my LMs and wondering why the folders seem so small, I remembered that I totally purged about all of them a few months back cuz so many were not any good any more. And of course, my memory for names of places really sucks.

but read this. it's so beautiful to just listen to the song over n over n over (death cab for cutie)

From: someone
I roll the window down
And then begin to breathe in
The darkest country road
And the strong scent of evergreen
From the passenger seat as you are driving me home.

Then looking upwards
I strain my eyes and try
To tell the difference between shooting stars and satellites
From the passenger seat as you are driving me home.

"Do they collide?"
I ask and you smile.
With my feet on the dash
The world doesn't matter.

When you feel embarrassed then I'll be your pride
When you need directions then I'll be the guide
For all time.
For all time.

there now, doesn't that make you smile? :)

Hi there - any ideas where to look for a beach house/villa, with a Mediterranean feel to it?
I really liked Lindal's Grecian-town-on-harbor build at Lebettu. Very simple, white stucco, lots of arches, sun-drenched verandas, lalala. It was on hilly land, as I recall, sloping down to the harbor. Might ask her where she got the homes. I don't *think* she built them, but I could be wrong.

I can't listen to music, or watch videos on this computer. So all I have is the words. And my eyes are too strained right now to read them coherenty.

You people who hate Christmas songs or are tired of them would go crazy if you lived with me.

I sing Christmas songs all year round.

I just like them as songs. "I'll be home for Christmas" is one of my faves. And "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" is an idiotic song, I know, so I change the words and make myself laugh.

I don't really hate them, I just wish they'd spice it up some.
