Life:
Explained
A boat docked in a tiny Mexican village. An American tourist complimented the Mexican fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took him to catch them.
"Not very long," answered the Mexican.
"But then, why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?" asked the American.
The Mexican explained that his small catch was sufficient to meet his needs and those of his family.
The American asked, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?"
"I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, and take a siesta with my wife. In the evenings, I go into the village to see my friends, have a few drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs. I have a full life."
The American interrupted, "I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you! You should start by fishing longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat."
"And after that?" asked the Mexican.
"With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers. Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant. You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City, Los Angeles, or even New York City! From there you can direct your huge new enterprise."
"How long would that take?" asked the Mexican.
"Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years," replied the American.
"And after that?"
"Afterwards? Well my friend, that's when it gets really interesting," answered the American, laughing. "When your business gets really big, you can start buying and selling stocks and make millions!"
"Millions? Really? And after that?" asked the Mexican.
"After that you'll be able to retire, live in a tiny village near the coast, sleep late, play with your children, catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife and spend your evenings drinking and enjoying your friends."
And the moral of this story is: .......... Know where you're going in life... you may already be there.
Wonderful Amara!

Ok, I keep hearing about the forums shutting down or moving or whatever. What's going on? I'm so out of the loop its scary, did I miss a blog post or announcement?
(probable, since I never read the blog anyway)

Have we been given a date or anything? I don't want to turn up one day and find out all my friends have disappeared and left me behind lol.
Well they have claimed it for a while and they did finally move the XStreet forums to their new horrid setup, so eveyone is expecting our turn to come soon.

And we are finally approaching October.

I know this isn't what you were talking about, but it reminded me:

Sometimes movies and commercials are shot in and around my neighborhood and yesterday on my way to work I saw one set up.

They had two big trucks, one with the back open, and as I looked up there, plain as day was a guy changing his clothes. He was just taking his pants off as looked, and was wearing black briefs. Very nonchalant. I'm sure I was the only one who saw him. Nice looking guy.

But that wasn't what I was going to say.

I have a question for you dog people.

Six has started taking care of a neighbor's dog, a very sedate, nice dog. The dog is very affectionate toward her, seems already attached. Anyway, I went along with her so she could play with the dog, and for about 15-20 minutes the dog sat with her and hung around her while I sat by watching and talking.

Well, at some point, for no reason I could see, the dog began to growl and bark at Six. I'm sure she didn't do anything. Six is somewhat fearful, so she tried to run away, which provoked the dog to bark even more. When I stood up and spoke calmly, the dog sat and stopped barking, but as soon as I'd stop being assertive, she'd start barking again at me... Six would get fearful, the barking would escalate, I'd be assertive, the dog would quiet down, etc. The cycle wouldn't stop, and Six was getting freaked, so we left.

I couldn't get Six to stay calm once the dog barked, and I couldn't figure out what this usually non-barking dog was on about.

Does anyone have a clue?

.

Hello Everyone. :)

I'm just checking in and saying hello. I've been finding my way around. Slowing locating all the free stuff for new people, and wearing Brenda's shirt while doing it. :D

Loving all the pictures and fun things here.

Hi, Harlow.
Good to see you are having fun. I was starting to worry because I had not seen you post in a few days. Don't be such a stranger. (like I got room to talk :o )

Totally amateur here but I think it's safe to say that the dog misses your neighbor a lot, so much that she's willing to be affectionate with other people when they come 'round. But then she remembers you aren't the humans she wants and that she is supposed to guard the house while they are gone. As soon as Six seems fearful it is a who is the strongest here and she starts to demonstrate how strong she is, in case it is her. You have to keep being the strongest or she will keep testing... maybe.

Thanks for breakfast Mo!! I've never had cinnamon toast, I'll have to try making it sometime. Probably when I try and make american style pancakes.
...

Cinnamon toast is easy.

First, mix up some cinnamon sugar. Just stir some cinnamon powder into a cup of sugar until the color is a pleasant tan.

Make toast.

Butter the toast.

Sprinkle a generous amount of the cinnamon sugar onto the toast. Gently knock off the excess.

Enjoy.
