From: Maureen Boccaccio Excuse me, but did you say you were "looking at wedding dresses" ??? (but I agree; cute little French robot) Who me? Nope. Was on the other side of the store looking at gowns and followed the cute little 'bot into the wedding section

From: 3Ring Binder heart attack on a plate. literally. edit: i'd like to take a spoon to that gravy though. It IS a heart attack on a plate. I admit to having done it though, flouring, seasoning bacon, before frying. My mom used to do it occasionally, sort of a special occasion thing. (hey, it's heart attack day!) It's very good, unfortunately.

Thanks for the hugs and goodies everyone. I don't want to bore everyone in here, so I decided to bore anyone who reads the blog instead lol. From: 3Ring Binder From: Maureen Boccaccio I'd never heard of chicken-fried bacon, but I found some! heart attack on a plate. literally. edit: i'd like to take a spoon to that gravy though. *that* is not gravy as I know it! I don't know what the hell it is, but gravy is dark brown and you pour it over a Sunday Roast, or over a bowl of mashed potatoes, that stuff is way to pale and thick - can't possibly taste good.

That is cream gravy. It is usually made with bacon fat and flour for the rue (roo?) and then milk. Salt and black pepper for seasoning. If you "chicken fry" something, use the same pan but pour off most of the oil and then add the flour and scrap all the goodies off the bottom of the pan.

You'd probably recognise it as a variation of bechamel sauce, Claire . . . Pep ( . . . like we pour over cauliflower)

Also goes good with potatos of just about any form. I prefer gravy for my chips (fries for this side of the water) rather than that vile and evil condiment known as ketchup.

Mayo, for me, instead of ketchup. Mayo and fries is a German thing? Something my ex husband passed onto me, which he learned he said, from his military days in Germany. Only thing he ever showed me that I actually liked.

Vanity of the day
09-10-2009 07:53
This came out much darker than I first thought. I turned the facelight off and used the room lighting because I thought it looked warm and blended with me and the background. It would be trivial to do a little postwork and brighten it up but I have been doing shots straight from SL for so long I feel like it is my thing now.

From: 3Ring Binder flour, milk, salt, pepper, butter and sausage. maybe some onions and/or misc. spices if you want variations. without that sausage thats the beginning of some sort of complicated dish that I neither know or like to make. Like Lasagne, or Cauliflower Cheese, or some kind of sauce to go over chicken. Not usually a fan of milk sauces. I'll probably try it one day, just to see, but I'm not sure I'd like it. Wouldn't try to make it myself though.

Rhonda, you should put that one in a frame and hang it on the wall. The dark is good! Rembrandt used to go for that effect. .
