Just incase anyone is hungry, I've prepared a special meal for you tonight; Fresh Corn "Polenta" w/Sauteed Pepper Shrimp & Heirloom Orange Tomatoes :) See blog for recipe (sort of, there really is no "recipe";)

OMG that looks so good. I love polenta. You're gonna have one fat Llama on your hands if you cook like that all the time. And what blog? I love new recipes (I don't really use them either).

Doh just saw your sig lol.

He's a "healthier looking" Llama than when we first met :p

It's dangerous living with someone who knows how to cook, and enjoys it too. I keep threatening to force us to living on Lean Cuisines but haven't followed through yet :p

The only thing lean about Lean Cuisines is that they have less fats. They trade fat for carbohydrates (of which most is sugar) and bang in a load of salt for good measure.
Carbohydrates get people fat, science is actually leaning away from the theory that fats in food make people fat. They are realising it is the carbohydrates instead that do.

Elora, you are better off sticking with your yummy looking polenta and the like :)

Oh and I just realized it's a take on Mark Bittman's recipe! Ever try his no knead bread?

Yes, it was a Bittman take off :)

And no, never tried the bread recipe. I keep meaning to, and forgetting. Baking, is not my forte at all. I'm more about the meat and potatoes type of dishes, although, I LOVE bread dearly (apropos to Gabriele's comment on carbs above lol).

@ Gabriele - BTW, I actually did use Lean Cuisine to lose weight a while ago, along with healthier eating habits in general. I had lost a lot of weight that way, using them for dinner only, supplemented with a salad and fruit, and eating normal, reasonable meals at breakfast and lunch. I lost 50 lbs total in about 9 months. Kept it off for over a year, until I had a rather bad accident and was bed ridden for a while, and then it crept on again little by little due to the inactivity caused by the accident. Wasn't a bad way to do things, wouldn't recommend it to everyone but worked for me.

Sam here, Lil. My philosophy on ironing is don't buy anything that will ever need ironing and if I accidentally do I usually just wear it wrinkled. We do try to hang up my husband's dress shirts while they are still wrinkle-free from the drier. But it's pretty rare that either of us actually gets out the iron.

I do most of the laundry here, every few days because that is one job I don't mind. I stress out over other things like dusting the books - which I have now put off for so long that in my mind it has become and utterly impossible task.

Same here, I haven't owned an iron in years, lol. I also don't buy anything that needs to be dry cleaned. :D

Oh it's worth trying. He did revise the original recipe he posted and has a pizza dough version which I haven't tried but the whole process is pretty interesting. I'm not much of a baker myself either but there is something very satisfying about taking really simple ingredients and making something delicious that has been, in one form or another, been done for centuries across cultures. It wasn't so much the "no knead" part that drew me to trying it, because I actually like the act of kneading. What got me interested was hearing about how you just get this really great crackly crust from the recipe that is really hard to achieve at home but is very doable using his method of having a wetter than average dough and baking in a screaming hot vessel like a dutch oven. Amazing crust with a hearty crumb. Didn't last too long at my house. It's a fun thing to try when you get a chance!

No offence but you probably lost weight more due to the salad, fruit, better general eating habits and regular meal times than eating Lean Cuisines. Really they are not that good for you at all.

Back from lunch. Here's the skinny.

They are going to close my branch. Probably within the next 8 weeks. They don't want to lay me off. They want me to move into sales. I will have to take a 15% pay cut but i will make commision on my sales so I can make a lot of that back. I will be working about 5 minutes from my house which will be real nice. I will be working for a guy that I used to work with as a peer. I think it will work out great. Technically it's a step down from management to sales but I am going to have a lot less stress and will only have to worry about myself. I'm not upset at all.

Thanks for the well wishes.

:) this is all great news. congrats!

Three of my kids are on Facebook and one of them made me join. Then I connected with some of their friends and some of my friends who were there. I don't go there very often but when I do I see what folks are up to. If I ever get up to anything I might post about it there.

i actually signed up for a FB account after some friends twisted my arm, but i never go there, so i'm not sure what the point was. LOL

they can block those sites because they are popular lists of proxies.
it would require much more effort to block each of the proxies listed.

try some others from google. your work cannot possibly block them all.

Geez, would you believe that they have blocked all of those sites -- classified as "annonymizers".

:(

Found a very interesting link... http://personas.media.mit.edu/ - you put in a name (Mine of course) and it will scan the web and show you how the 'net sees you.

You really need the see the full size on my flickr site to see the details, but it is very interesting!

Hi all. I'm finally back, with a rotten summer cold as a souvenir of my travels.

Did I miss anything?
Welcome back, Malia. I hope you had a good time and feel fine again soon,
