lol...you know, I've been reading a book series (well, two of them) by Laurell K. Hamilton.

Her editor/proofreaders are THE WORST I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED!! Her books are rife with spelling errors and typos.

But now I've turned it into a game to see how many I can spot. :p

OMG! I thought the same thing!

A little hunt -- for those among us who like period dresses:

And they are all pretty easy to find and the dresses are super cute.

I have been thru this twice with dogs in the past 5 years and once with a cat. I told my husband no more animals after the current ones because I just do not think I can go thru that too many more times. We already know that the oldest dog will probably not survive another winter or two.
:(

*hugs* to you

i have two unwritten commandments that goes something like:

thy shalt not be heard singing in public
thy shalt not be seen dancing in public

i firmly obey these commandments (unless there is tequilla involved. then i can not be held responsible, for it is not a sin if you are drunk *right?*) :D

Totally takes me right out of the story...those kind of mistakes seem to be so glaringly obvious to me that it makes me pause :(

Well, isn't that the dumbest thing ever written in this thread?

Pep (So a pet's death is "more hurty" than the death of a human family member, for example?)

Another exciting day at Le Tour De France!

This was a team time trial. Which means that each team rides the course seperately, leaving the start house at intervals of several minutes.
Each team and each member of the team will get, for the day's time, the time of the fifth member to cross the finish line.

Ideally the whole team will very smoothly take turns riding in first position, then dropping back to last and working up to first again so as to share the time spent working hard and the time "resting" in the slipstream. Lance Armstrong's past tour teams were masters at this discipline. In fact they did so well in 2005 that most people believe that was the reason that the race organizers dropped the event for the 2006-2008 tours.

Similar to the individual TT, in the TTT the team with the best combined time so far starts last. The worst placed team goes first.

The route of today's 39km (24 miles) stage had many more sharp bends in it than TT's typically do. Which made it more difficult for the teams to work together, especially on the faster, but much less maneuverable special time trial bikes. Several of the earlier teams had crashes on bends, causing them to lose time and have less important team members fall behind.

In every Tour that Lance won he had eight teammates who's only goal was to help him win. In this tour one of his teammates, Alberto Contador, won the Tour in 2007 and two others, Andreas Klöden and Levi Leipheimer have finished in the top 3. Each of these four guys is worthy of a team of helpers. So there has been much spedulation about whether they will be able to all work together, and for whom. (Last year the whole Astana team was unfairly banned from the tour, because of doping by past members.)

At the start of today, after the success of yesterday's breakaway, Armstrong was only 40 seconds away from taking the over-all leader's Yellow Jersey from Fabian Cancellara of Team Saxo Bank. Astana did beat Saxo Bank - by only a fraction of a second less than enough.

Team Garmin-Slipstream came in second, even though they began shedding riders early in the stage. They rode the last half with only five riders together - four very good time trialists and one guy who was able to hang onto their wheels, but not help out front. The riders who couldn't keep up did get in in time to avoid being disqualified, and all got the same time for the day as the fifth man across the finish.

Also notable today was current sprint competition Grean Jersey wearer, Mark Cavendish of Team Columbia High Road. We expected him to fall back and let his teammates do the work today. Most sprinters are not good at going very fast for extended periods. But not only did he keep up he also took turns pulling at the front. And he led his team for the final few hundred meters, actually looking back constantly to make sure he wasn't going too fast for them to stay in his slipstream.

This is the new General Classification for the overall Tour:

TY.

You know, critters pull at our hearts. After we had to let the first dog go, I swore no more. However the remaining dog (the one that is really old now) was so lonely he howled all the time, so we broke down and got another dog. When she got sick after a few years and we had to let her go, I did not really want another one because of the heartache of losing them, but I also could not leave the old dog with no other dog for company -- he apparently really needs a buddy. Unless something really odd happens to the newest dog, the old one will pass on first and I **think** the newest one will be okay as an only dog.

Yep - I shed far more tears over those two dogs and a cat than I did over a few relatives that passed on. Truth be know, I almost celebrated them finally be totally out of my life.

Maybe she just meant nothing hurts more the death of a beloved family member.

Kai (Most of us would rescue our human children from a burning building before our cats. But many pets are more constant companions than human loved ones.)
