I can vouch for Airborne too. It may lessen the severity.

Airborne is good, Zicam is even better, especially if your cold is on the heavy side.

quite frankly, i'm bordering on "what's the point?" with SL in general. with camping being squelched, it's making it very difficult for me to have SL support itself. i am seriously considering selling all my land and just seeing if SL holds interest for me socially.

knowing me, i will probably disappear. that's nothing personal to anyone, but sexxers isn't something i'm in to here, and sinced that's what everyone is seemingly sidetracked with, i find my OVERALL SL experience rather boring if i'm not building (that's not to say i haven't made a few friends - and i DO very much enjoy their company - but that's what email and telephones are for).

with no land, there is no place to build - nor no point since i can't display it.

that's why i like these forums. i spend WAY more time here than inworld (unless i am working on a project). we shall see.

I mostly explore. Most of the time by myself, which can get boring (like last night, even though I found a neat place).

Sexxers? I do not spend time sexxercising.

No place to build? I build at the hangout. Not that I build anything of any note.

Built glasses that I can't get small enough to use. Some really ugly bath tubs with built in pose (so 1 prim). Some quite ugly clothing (since I only "build" clothing in world). Made a dolphin temple. A robot. A bear.

That was relatively recently. Built furniture in first month as Lexxi. Tried for 1 prim. Horrifying to gaze upon.

Elora,
Glad to hear you've come up with a good solution the to hours thing. It reminds me of a part time job my husband had with the Department of Social Services for a couple of years. He actually had a contract stating what the hourly pay would be. But the checks were for less per hour!!! When he complained they told him to pad his hours to make up the difference! We couldn't believe it.

Thanks Kaimi. Twice I've tried to write back and couldn't get the website to respond, lost the message, ugh.

To be brief, the nutshell version is sometimes, you have to watch out for yourself. Managment does not always completely watch out for you - they only know so much. In my case, I recognize there are external circumstances why they want things the way they want them since they were quite frank with me, however, there was no reason the Partners could not have effectively communicated with the Office Manager prior to me being brought into the office so this could have been prevented.

In the end, we all got what we needed out of this (including the fact that the current Office Manger will be geting a nice severence package which she is unaware of, which played into the conversation I had with the Partner and why they didn't want me there too much yet). It's no skin off their nose to have me officially starting in July, I'm not losing out financially, and neither are they.

... If all they wanted to give me was their regular training, what they should have done, is just had me come in early July for 2 weeks straight. That would have made the most sense, you know?
No kidding.

well perhaps blue should be reminded that strife and millie continue to step in when needed despite the lindens washing their hands of everyone long ago. i reckon they have shown an unreal commitment, a commitment i know for certain no linden has or will possess. ...
I know when I am being paid a specific amount of money for doing specific work I tend not to do much extra. When I'm doing something for the sake of getting it done I'm more likely to put in what ever time and effort it takes to do it well.

Now you have just made people curious - and that is mankind's strongest instinct, did you know that?

Pep (Stronger than sex or hunger, although the jury is out on mothering.)
I think it depends.
When your air supply is cut off you don't care whether you spouse is having an affair or how the theory of relativity works.
When you are very hungry your strongest instinct is to find food.
When you are feeling lonely your main concern is connecting with others.
There are a lot of needs to be met before you start to be curious about things that don't directly affect you.
Lucky people can get all their needs met and still have time to take an interest in how the rest of the world works.

I did Brenda. It seemed to me that he quoted you a couple times. Like not directly, but he said things like "Some residents have told me they want... xyz" and xyz would pretty much be exactly something that you had said you talked to him about. My feeling is that you made a very good impression on him and he took what you said to heart.
I imagine most people take to heart whatever Brenda says.

put me down for sex too. Make it a double :p
:) Sex certainly is one of the biggest bangs for the buck, so to speak. But with luck it is possible to satisfy that need long enough to get curious about other things.

Another mention of the SL "art community" over in the other threads. Though this time mentioning Flickr groups.

One of these days I might stumble across this mythical creature (mythical community, I mean).

This is true, but LL's need to communicate with it's customers is a bit different than a lot of consumer product companies. Most simply make the product, sell it, and the consumer uses it. The maker may have to provide some support and service, but for the most part it ends with the purchase.

In SL's case, the customers ARE the product in that they are essential to it's growth and development. Not having clear channels of communication is just bad for the business as a whole.
Recently I heard that the banks that took those big bailouts used the money to invest in European businesses, instead of stimulating the US economy, because they thought it would be more profitable. I have no idea if this is true but I do think all businesses these days are in the business of making money for their officers and shareholders.

LL strikes me as being more interested in the actual product they are providing than most... But maybe they just have me fooled.

I may have been born at night but it wasn't last night. ;)

Having never spoken to a Linden, and since he reached out to me I figured I'd give it a shot to unload some of what was on my mind about LL and SL. If it doesn't happen, I'll at least have given it my best shot. No worries.
One likes to be prepared for the worst but not to the point of not being open for the best. :)

While waiting for the lucky chair at Diesel Works, I tried out their pose chair. It was pretty hard to find an angle without signage!

They have this set of ballerina poses that kept catching my eye...

Nice pic.

If you need to get things out of your view for pictures -- Advanced menu, Rendering, Hide Selected. Then EDIT the items you want to hide, using CTRL to select multiple items. Then carefully position your camera and snap the shot.

Speaking of DSN, I signed up for four categories and realized now I am a bit overwhelmed by them. How do I unsubscribe from at least two of them?:o I don't even remember how I signed up. :p
If you have not got the answer yet - go to anyplace that has a kiosk and click it and it will let you unsubscribe from any of the categories. There is either a kiosk at the hangout or info on them their. There should also definitely be one at Rika's store and any other store that you are getting DSN gifts from.

One of the gifties it gave me was a Photo hall set.(a Hallway that changes textures and you can take photos in it like you are in a hallway..:/ ) I would really love to find more sets like that. I went to the store but they only had two others that I didn't care for. I did get a freebie runway set though from them.:D
That place has a freebie runway set? Nice - I have not had a chance to get to the store, but I thought the photo hall set was a really neat idea.

damn, damn, damn - these posting errors are pissing me off almost as bad as the idiot project manager here that a few of us want to kill.
