Nice pic.

If you need to get things out of your view for pictures -- Advanced menu, Rendering, Hide Selected. Then EDIT the items you want to hide, using CTRL to select multiple items. Then carefully position your camera and snap the shot.

valuable information. i had no idea we could even do that! thanks!

And what have you got at the end of the day ?
What have you got to take away ?
A bottle of whisky and a new set of lies
Blinds on the window and a pain behind the eyes

The trick of "hide selected" is great for trying to find objects inside of walls/floors also.

If that is the stuff that you dissolve in water and drink, it makes me gag. I cannot tolerate alka-selzer either cuz the taste and fizz make me gag.

I'm weird- I like the taste of alkaseltzer...

I had a one of those think fast moments when I went to the coffee machine at the office and filled my cup from the hot water spigot there. I plopped in an Airborne tablet and it started roiling and steaming and fizzing and turned green. The lady who orders coffee innocently walked in behind me as I turned around.

"This coffee is getting more toxic every day!" I said.

I LOL'ed - in fact, I guffawed :D

Why does it have to "totally" pay for itself? Wouldn't SL be considered part of the income budget?

tis just my way of viewing it

i refuse to use my RL income on a game. that will never happen.

Wow! I wish I felt that way. But there's too much I want in SL 'not' to use my own money to buy lindens to get it. I'd be spending my entertainment budget on something equally unnecessary anyway, so might as well get something I want in SL. Did take me awhile to get to that point though. I used to......*cringe* camp, in my early months. Took a few months before I went premium and started buying lindens. I look at it like, if you golf, whatever your hobby is, it's going to cost something for upkeep. Another may spend hundreds on good golf clubs for their rl hobby; me I spend what I spend for my hobby. I don't see the difference.

At the beginning of each month, when I pay all my bills for the month, I also set aside that month's SL allotment. I factor it into my budget as an "entertainment" expense, just like going to the movies, or a baseball game, etc.

In addition, I found that I was spending way less time watching television, so I cut back on my monthly cable expenses. :)

Did you never buy any other game for your computer?

My husband and I do not do all of the same things for entertainment - he has things that he spends money on and I think they are dumb. Likewise, he thinks SL is a dumb game, but it is still my entertainment. Guess we all have our own ways of looking at things.

There was a person on SLU a while back who soapboxed about not putting outside money into SL. She worked, supported herself, was a productive citizen , etc and called people who didn't do the same LAZY  She was dead serious too, her self righteousness was very entertaining.

Self righteousness usually is - it is also of course perhaps even by definition- self-delusional. If we cannot look at ourselves and say, 'this thing about me is bad', then we need a good long talk with our selves. After that, 'this is bad' recognition thing- you need to either change the bad or accept it- 'cause none of us walk on water- yeah, proly not him either :) - thing is- we are who we are, what we are, with all the bumps and warts and so what ?- there u go- it's you. As long as you can look in the mirror, I always say. Mind you, I have been described as amoral by some :) - Much nicer than immoral i think - that's just a construct.

re: paying for SL

i can play for free. and i want it to pay for itself if i'm going to do anything that costs $$. that's just the way i've always approached it since i started.

i don't buy computer "games" but i do own a lot of software of various sorts - much of it purchased to improve my SL experience, although i've not always announced that as it's main purpose. >]

also - and most importantly - the other half of my household would never approve of me spending RL income on SL.

I fully understand that last part. Prior to recently, I had to hide my SL expenditures completely. Not a good feeling at all. Luckily, I was able to purchase one of those store credit cards, found one with the highest limit (like $200 or so). I took all the gift cash I got one Christmas and put it on the credit card, and used that card to verify myself, and purchase Lindens. It lasted me a heck of a long time (that and good freebie shopping).

Unfortunately, I've heard you can't use those particular kinds of cards any longer. But, I also haven't needed to do this for ages now, well over a year at least.

I completely empathize with the situation. Some people don't have partners that support their being inworld, let alone them spending money on it. If you want to be here, you have to make the best of it by either doing the freebie route, finding a skill here and making your own money, or eventually dropping out because you can't sustain yourself in the lifestyle you'd like to in order to enjoy your experience here.

At the risk of looking like i got some sort of stake in this I gotta tell you guys about this awesome garden place i am in - i was just gushing on the cartel chat -

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Taylor%20Bay/82/38/42

Totally creative- the plants are not the same ones u see everywhere - the garden stuffs r creative and unusual - the small house plants sare reasonably priced but the trees are waaaaay to rich for my blood - place is called Aintree.

(Damien - I got you something ;) - will put it in the courtyard.
