I probably shouldn't say, but I made an alt for when I need to work on stuff. Her name is Moth. I know it's a dark picture, but if you see her around, you'll know it's me.

so pretty. and love both your names.

Totally off topic:

I hope it's not too inappropriate to say I thought the resmod's last thread lock was awesome. That's one way to get the final word.

End of off topic. Carry on.

The usual blather with added misspellings.

Is that criminal or just immoral?

Pep (Never fails to be astonished at the conniving nature of a supposedly "nice" person.)

The job. These people are at odds with each other already, but I am just going by their desires and not saying much about it.

The Office Manager had told me for training purposes, 3x a week through the end of June, then full time July onward (she leaves July 24). This was plenty of time to get me up to speed on everything I needed to know. However, I get in Monday morning and apparently, 2 of the partners had been stewing in their own poo over the weekend about exactly what my hours were during training. One of them calls me in to speak to me privately. I won't go into the whole conversation as it matters little to all of you but the essence of it was he felt that they have never given more than 2 weeks training to any employee.

So, he wanted to cut me to 2 days a week until she leaves. What could I say? I had already accepted the position. So, I was gracious about it, said ok, etc. However, that evening I realized that the pay of only 2 days, was not enough to live on. 3 days, was ok, I could get by on that (the salary is rather good). But 2 days, after commuting costs/lunch, well it would be even less than what Unemployment was giving me! Not good.

So, Tuesday, the current Office Manager and I hatched a plan. I asked if she minded that I continue to collect unemployment until mid-July, and that she hold off from putting me officially on their payroll. She could just save up all the days I work from now until then, and pay me the lump sum of them mid-July, when I'll go off Unemployment, as she is officially leaving the job. She thought this was brilliant, since she didn't like the Partners doing this to me and knowing the job, absolutely knows I need more training than they think I do. The billing is complicated and she really wanted to devote several days alone to that. So, at least now, I'll get my payroll retroactive and still collect from NYS which isn't exactly kosher, but necessary since this really just all should have been settled between the Partners and the Office Manager way prior to me walking in the door.

So, here I am, 2x a week, still plenty of time on my hands until the end of July. I'm not "unhappy" about it, but I was hoping to start getting a decent salary back into my bank account. Thankfully, I still have a good cushion in there, so it's not an issue, but still, you know? I was warned by the guy that helped get me this job (and the Office Manager herself) that these Partners could be somewhat difficult to deal with, and this certainly is my first look into it. Will have to keep on my toes, that's for sure.

On the other hand? The people in the office are fantastic, the area downtown is a huge difference from midtown as there are plenty of things to keep me occupied at lunch breaks. The commute isn't too bad (express train once I get into NYC, only a few stops) and, I got the office manual and I'm utterly thrilled with the benefits backage they offer, right down to the fact that they pay you for your subway fare! Woohoo! Nice!

WOW! all so complicated. if only you can find a way to get them ALL in the same room together when important decisions are being made. good luck! don't give up. you'll all find a routine together after some time has passed. and congrats again on such a great position (eventually). :)

@ Amara - When Ghosty and I first met, someone should have been a fly on the wall with the amount of conversation flying between him and I. <snip>
@ Damien - Our meeting was here on the Forum too, in that "Deviant Thread" lol. That Thread, was epic! And it was him offering me a ride in his Lambergini :)
<snip>

I remember watching the relationship flower, Elora :) - It came across in the Deviant Thread and I smiled with each post- not sure if it was me or if it was obvious to others- but I saw it coming :)

Omg hahaha. Are they frisking each other? Maybe that's what happens when you show up at the Land Expo.

We were some part of hugging, and it would seem more likely that it would be groping instead of frisking.

From: Seven Okelli
@Lexxi - I love that login picture especially. How did you do it?

re: Moth picture: quite nice looking moth you caught there, heh. Chair picture also neat.

re: picture - luck of the draw. I had logged off . . um. no, I didn't log off hugging Mistress, I logged off meowing and purring towards Mistress (as I normally do). Not sure how last picture-first view logging in screen would be part of the hug.

Specifically I captured the picture using print screen, if that is what you meant by "how did you do it". Back to first response if you are asking how I got a login screen with Mistress and self. Luck of the draw.

And, at the moment, my login screen has been a series of . . . black screens. heh. I only got that Mistress & me login screen once. :(

If only. The office manager already warned me this is nearly impossible. She was SO pissed off when he told her I was only going to be there 2x a week because she knows what I'm in for once she's gone.

C'est la vie. If all they wanted to give me was their regular training, what they should have done, is just had me come in early July for 2 weeks straight. That would have made the most sense, you know?

I have to say, thanks for the update I asked for... things are not the same right now.

My hardware is still "restricted" and researching for a new viewer isn't going as planned.

On the bright side, the book excerpts I wrote in my blog will end up becoming the second book I'll be working on: The Second Passage. (Book 36 of 105)--

good morning threadies, I got stuff to do today. :)

I believe that Lil and Oryx did.
From: Brenda Connolly
Perhaps, but will that new forum even allow for a thread such as this to continue?
If they really do outsource the moderation, I see no reason why not. The only reason why NOT to have a general area would be if LL moderates it themselves; then it might take too much time. However, Blue has expressed to me his own surprise at how well the current forums do, basically unmoderated. Nearly all of the umpty-million residents are here for fun, so all communication vehicles that LL uses should allow for fun in some way. Note, for example, what they permit on the new blog discussion threads in the way of pictures and HTML. Really ferret-licious threads. I've looked at 5 boards now that use Jive software - not one of them permits all that in their postings. They simply configure the software not to show the options of images, bolding, indentation, etc.

well perhaps blue should be reminded that strife and millie continue to step in when needed despite the lindens washing their hands of everyone long ago. i reckon they have shown an unreal commitment, a commitment i know for certain no linden has or will possess. i think on the new forum strife and millie should retain the ability to step in when needed, independent of some 3rd party moderating team.
