Doc, can you help make this swelling go away?

Sure. That boil can just be lanced. My nurse Sven can take care of that for you.

To answer the question 3Ring asked as far as my first week, well, non-existent lol! What the office manager totally neglected to mention was Wednesday was a lunch date for her, the receptionist and myself! I got downtown, had a quick slice of pizza and went up to the office. She says to me "ready to go?". I'm like, "what?" (in my head). She never said it was lunch, had just said to me to be there at 2pm!

So, we headed to a lovely French bistro and for 2 hours, the 3 of us gabbed it up. She gave me the low down on the personalities of the three partners in great depth. There couldn't be three people more different from each other and it seems like it will be a challenge learning how to deal with them, however, I just came from an enviornment with two nut jobs so that doesn't phase me much. As for the office itself, it sounds fantastic. Very energetic, young people, everyone pitches in together. The receptionist is quite a bit younger than I am and made it clear she is there to be my right hand. I am considered management here, a which is great too. The work hours are a bit longer, 1/2 more a day but we leave early on Fridays, so no matter. Plus, I get an extra weeks vacation because they shut down during Christmas week - Woot! Great benefits (health, 401K, bonuses, and profit sharing too).

Oh and I forgot the best part - or best for some. She mentioned they are a very "liquid" office  During our lunch, both of them had 2 glasses of wine and thought nothing of it. I personally don't drink much at all, and said so but it seems the office does indulge to the point of even bringing in pizza and beer for the staff on occassion. This is mind boogling to me! But, probably does wonders for morale when they are under the gun so, hey, I'm happy to continue the tradition :)

In the end, I'll be working only 3 days a week for the month of June, and then start full-time in July, which suits me perfectly fine. I still had some things I wanted to accomplish at home; squeeze in some doctor appointments, catch up on errands (today I have a cleaning service coming to give the apartment a really good once over for those places we just can't reach). The current office manager is there until nearly the end of July so we have a lot of time together to get me adjusted. She then leaves for Florida, where she is trying to find a calmer lifestyle than she has here. Her mom is arriving from Jamaica, plus childen issues, the stress of the job of juggling all of this so heading there with a lot of family to help out made sense for her. Funny thing is she's moving to where I lived, so I'm giving her the name of the Architect I worked for there, to see if they might need her services.

i love the pic! it's great to see you two in costume. LOL

Elora, this sounds like a fab job environment, and i am so happy foryou. i don't think i can imagine anything else positive i can say since you have the bull by the horns, except that i wish you the very best of luck! :)

i'll need to log in to my junk email and get your addy so i can write to you from my REAL email, so i don't miss anything. btw, i am very proud of you!

i hope you realise that all of that wasnt because of you personally, but rather the reaction to the clocktower probe in conjunction with certain... processes of decision-making. i definitely dont want to rehash this, esp in public, but i am certain you know what im on about.
since all that is both prehistoric and behind the scenes maybe i will show up anyway :) hopefully some of the inactive originals can make an appearance as well.

i dunno what y'all are talking about, but since you've kissed and made up i see no excuse for anyone not to be at the party. ;)

the kitchen smelled like burnt garbage. to make it even worse he will be reducing the stock to jus, intensifying the terrible burnt and bitter flavour. i cannot see how anyone will not think it tastes terrible!

is he extracting the steam as liquid smoke, or is this atrocity meant for consumption?
