To answer the question 3Ring asked as far as my first week, well, non-existent lol! What the office manager totally neglected to mention was Wednesday was a lunch date for her, the receptionist and myself! I got downtown, had a quick slice of pizza and went up to the office. She says to me "ready to go?". I'm like, "what?" (in my head). She never said it was lunch, had just said to me to be there at 2pm!

So, we headed to a lovely French bistro and for 2 hours, the 3 of us gabbed it up. She gave me the low down on the personalities of the three partners in great depth. There couldn't be three people more different from each other and it seems like it will be a challenge learning how to deal with them, however, I just came from an enviornment with two nut jobs so that doesn't phase me much. As for the office itself, it sounds fantastic. Very energetic, young people, everyone pitches in together. The receptionist is quite a bit younger than I am and made it clear she is there to be my right hand. I am considered management here, a which is great too. The work hours are a bit longer, 1/2 more a day but we leave early on Fridays, so no matter. Plus, I get an extra weeks vacation because they shut down during Christmas week - Woot! Great benefits (health, 401K, bonuses, and profit sharing too).

Oh and I forgot the best part - or best for some. She mentioned they are a very "liquid" office  During our lunch, both of them had 2 glasses of wine and thought nothing of it. I personally don't drink much at all, and said so but it seems the office does indulge to the point of even bringing in pizza and beer for the staff on occassion. This is mind boogling to me! But, probably does wonders for morale when they are under the gun so, hey, I'm happy to continue the tradition :)

In the end, I'll be working only 3 days a week for the month of June, and then start full-time in July, which suits me perfectly fine. I still had some things I wanted to accomplish at home; squeeze in some doctor appointments, catch up on errands (today I have a cleaning service coming to give the apartment a really good once over for those places we just can't reach). The current office manager is there until nearly the end of July so we have a lot of time together to get me adjusted. She then leaves for Florida, where she is trying to find a calmer lifestyle than she has here. Her mom is arriving from Jamaica, plus childen issues, the stress of the job of juggling all of this so heading there with a lot of family to help out made sense for her. Funny thing is she's moving to where I lived, so I'm giving her the name of the Architect I worked for there, to see if they might need her services.

Anyhoo - since someone mentioned International House of Style, Oryx's fantastic store I'm posting a picture of Ghosty and I that I took the other evening as we headed over to Madhu's Cafe. Not a great picture, just a memory shot for us since we both had on new clothing we hadn't worn yet. I was wearing a sari I purchased from IHOS. Don't freak out; he's human and I have black hair :p

Um I don't remember letting you out of your cage to post missy. Don't make me go buy new locks.
Totally my fault -- she had not been around in FOREVER, so I picked the locks.

But I did lock her right back up again.

For those who missed it, we will be having a 2 year Birthday party for the Forum Cartel on Sunday June 21st. We hope to have some hosts for the early attendees, if any of the Euro members would be willing to step up, I would really appreciate it.

If you have a T Shirt design, please get it submitted so we can get the voting started.

We are also taking volunteers for DJ's. The attire is suggested formal ( I know how you girls like your fancy dresses) But as always, everyone is welcome no matter what they are wearing. Please just wear something! :D At least till later in the evening.

The two year mark for the Hangout itself is soon approaching. I am sure that will be another big party.

what kind of moron BOILS burnt veal bones? here is the recipe for fond de veau as employed by my 'head chef' today:

1. burn the piss out of 60kg or veal bones in a 220C oven
2. dump the bones into two large pots, then top with HOT TAP WATER
3. add RAW MIREPOIX
4. add one a10 tin of RAW TOMATO PASTE, and allow it to settle to the bottom of the pots (to catch and burn)
5. BOIL over full flame for 8 hours, topping with HOT TAP WATER as needed
6. do not depouillage, as that extracts 'flavour'

wtf?!?! i told the agency i will NEVER return to this shithole  how disgusting. he has 2 apprentices there learning this cowboy methodology, learning to serve dogshit. thats the worst part of all!

I do not eat burned food. I would return it to the kitchen and ask for my money back.
