Isn't that like poking the lions through the cage at the zoo?:o

Yes it it. It is like poking lions through the cage at the zoo, while failing to notice the cage door is open....

We jerboas live dangerous lives!

(and I'm just kiddin' ya Pep. :) )

My kids are crazy and hard to deal with some days.(Love them anyway,:p ) My ex is a total asshole and I only have only a few friends in RL who are often busy with addictions of their own lol. I have incredible anxiety issues,so really don't like to go outside much.(People scare meeeee). Plus the fact my kids are mentally disabled and it is a chore for us to go anywhere. So I guess I escape a lot to my computer. Which I probably shouldn't do. I just have nothing else to really do to "get away from it all" so to speak. I should pick up knitting or something.:p

As you know, Rioko, I'm in the same situation sadly....It got too much for me about 6 years ago and I'm ashamed to say that I actually thought about just walking away :(

I didn't do that, but instead, started writing...it was the outlet that I was looking for. Someplace I could take myself to, that didn't have my problems, my worries...a place where it could all end happily.

I am still trying to get my first manuscript published, I have a ton of rejection letters :) but you know what? It's been fun, a life-line for me and my sanity. My life now includes Second Life, which my friends and family do not understand the appeal. I don't care...I have to do what is good for me or my family will suffer. Bottom line :D

Since Stephen King has abused the word and significantly profited by it I wouldn't dream of commenting.

Pep (I understood - and you didn't do it intentionally, and this *is* The Thread, and it's 5 oclock Friday where I am, so you can spell it sematareal if you like!)

PS If we are owning up, I am addicted to words . . .

hehe, as if we couldn't have figured that out on our own ;)

Okay - the start of my massive catch-up postings:

Well besides the special friend thing... why should she have to give up her online time for him?I'm sure he has equally annoying habits/addictions. If he is in bed sleeping, what is wrong with her being on the computer? Personally I would have told him to shove it. But then again I am divorced,so don't listen to me.
I'm not divorced and I still would say "shove it". He can bitch if he is awake and wants her time - else, tough.

If he is anything like mine he hasn't a clue HOW to be sick!!! When one is sick one should be ministered to, attended- fluffel dpillows, etc- not my husband- Leave me alone! is what I hear when he is sick so i do just that. Fine!
Mine prefers to just whine non stop - about the tiniest freakin ache.

morning mo... i usually try to get in on the coffee in the morning...lol i need it this morning just to make it i think...lol
I do not function at all in the morning without coffee. This morning sucked - I had to go have blood drawn and was not allowed my coffee or anything until after that.

I always sleep in on those days so that I can get up, get dressed, drive down the steet, let them take the blood, then out to the car where the car coffee cup is waiting -- minimal functioning before coffee required in that case.

Not listed in the "Needed Supplies" section is reading material. More than anything, when you're not actively out doing something, you're BORED out of your skull. There are the usual things, like Muscle, etc magazines, but also cool are: outdoors mags (hiking, mountain biking, cars, National Geographic) and I personally was overjoyed to receive the occasional Vogue, Cosmopolitan, or Elle (or others.) Political mags were also highly rated (The Economist, Newsweek, Time come to mind). Used paperback novels are also great. So are jigsaw puzzles, tho those are more for the stationary people that have a flat surface.

And since Girl Scout cookie time is coming around, those are ALWAYS a huge hit. (Our unit got a huge box filled with GS cookies, and we all just looked at each other and started crying. Well, the girls did. The guys were suspiciously shiny-eyed.)

I take a medication that requires me to get my blood drawn once a month. I really hate that day. No coffee, nothing.:( And with kids to get off to school,I don't get to jump in the car and go there. I have to wait up to three hours before my coffee. It's not a pretty sight at all.:o

Oh - I just noticed that powdered drinks are also missing. Stuff like powdered Gatorade, Crystal Light, power drinks, etc are also nice. Water gets damned dull. Gatorade will become crucial once it starts getting on toward summer.

Navy Reserves - we were a land-based unit and the very first [land-based] Navy unit to be deployed for Op Iraqi Freedom, back in 2004. :)

I don't know whether to salute or shake your hand. :)

I separated from active USN back in 1999. No reserves though. The reserve recruiter wouldn't consider the possibility of cross-rating, and I had zero interest in flying any more. (I was aircrew).

So, hey, what does everyone think of a "grid-rally," like a race from mystery spot to mystery spot, with clues that require informational answers (as opposed to gathering "stuff";)? Have a prize and/or trophy at the end for the winning team?

Oh, I LOVE that idea!

I've always loved follow-the-clues races. Do it!

My son and his roommate are both in the Reserves. The roommate got activated last year and we constantly send him boxes -- books and magazines are very high on his request list.

I have a little girl scout that lives across the street. They had tons of extra cookies and saw my son outside as he stopped by for a visit. They stopped him and asked for his roommates info to send all their extra cookies over - he will be floored.

I only check the forums at break time and lunch. *checks watch* Seven minutes to go... I'd probably get fired if I were spending my actual work time hanging around here. They generally frown on paying people that never seem to complete any projects. :P
I work for city government. They seem to frown on people that do complete projects.

This is how it was yesterday. I'm falling asleep over here! Where's my entertainment, dammit?

Although, watching to see if Briana rises to the bait in the full perms thread is fun. I'm about to go make some popcorn.

I heard a funny little take on Michael Phelps and the marijuana incident.

These days, people are up in arms about professional athletes using performing enhancing drugs. So why get mad at Phelps?! If anything Phelps was taking a drug that would hurt his performance! I mean...can you imagine how fast he'd be if he didn't toke up!

Back 30 yrs ago when I built houses for a living, I always found it funny how many people would argue that they worked better when they were high. I was the one that usually had to follow up and fix all of the errors.
