I don't know where all you people were yesterday, but I hope you plan on sticking around today. My day was sooooo boring without you!

Aww...sorry Honey.

I'm in the middle of actually being productive at work. I'll try to slack off better next time. :)

I'd really appreciate that, Jer.

I'm stuck here in lawyerland, and the only sanity I can find is on these boards...how sad is that? When ya'll go off getting productive, I'm depressed. So please, continue your usual slacking.

To be truthful guys, considering the situation a lot of companies are in, I'm surprised anyone is allowed to idly surf on company time anymore.
I don't idly surf . . .

I only check the forums at break time and lunch. *checks watch* Seven minutes to go... I'd probably get fired if I were spending my actual work time hanging around here. They generally frown on paying people that never seem to complete any projects. :P

Ahh, it's a nice day outside. Rainy, overcast, and 37 degrees fahrenheit. Pretty decent for Michigan after the weather we've had lately. The radio announcer this morning made a comment after playing U2's "It's a Beautiful Day" and said "ahh, but it's actually a pretty nasty day today". I had to laugh because it's the best day we've had all winter practically. I actually have my office window cracked open...

which is more important to you....SL or your marriage?

It's my marriage. But I don't think I need to give up SL. I just need to not be so crazy about it.

From: Brenda Connolly
So is he upset that you are just spending too much time on SL, or with HOW you are spending it?

It's neither, kind of. It's my lack of control that bugs him, and the way I lose myself in SL. From his point of view, every time he's not looking, I jump on the computer and start typing madly... he wonders what I type, who I'm typing to, but he hates seeing me as an addict, and he worries that our child is turning the same way.

So I can't say his concerns aren't real.

I need to moderate myself better.

I'm not trying to sound judgmental here, Key, please be aware of that. But if you're already having these issues with SL, they're not going to get better. If you're truly immersed, and it sounds like you are, you spend more and more time inworld, and less dealing with RL. We all joke about addiction...but I think most of us, especially in this thread, would agree and admit that we are addicts.

Trust me, takes one to know one ;)

I have one question...WHERE IS LEXXIE?

I asked that yesterday!!!

From: HoneyBear Lilliehook
Well, Yosef's been missing awhile....Mac is sporadic at best-completely MIA at worst. But Lex? I'm missing that little kitteh.

I talked to him a couple weeks ago and he said he wd come by- but he hasn't so - let him find his way i guess.

This explains where my husband is when he is traveling- you are obviously married to the same man.

Question: I know we aren't supposed to post names, or sim names, or anything identifiable in the forum threads. Does that go for this thread too? I found 2 amazing sims/stores last night I wanted to tell you about.

I didn't think you were... I haven't taken exception to anything anyone's said to me so far, and I really appreciate the feedback.

This is really a minor blowup, but I think an important one.

good morning all. :D

no time to read and reply - will this afternoon. but.... Key - i completely 100% relate. i am exactly the same. if it helps:

i had to quit SL to cut the addiction feelings, and then when i came back i gave myself a time allowance. i ONLY log in when i have a specific goal to meet, and i limit my socializing to one night a week unless someone catches me and we chat a bit. i have not developed 'intimate' relationships, nor will i, so that is how we differ. perhaps that is the problem that you really need to address.

i am an addict who thumbed my nose at addicts when i started. SL sucks you in, no doubt. for me, time away is the only way to break the cycle. i hope this helps you. and good luck. *hugs*

Yes, and it's important to get a grip on it before it becomes a major one. But...I'm going to publicly admit something I don't normally, so that you deeply understand what I'm saying.

I was addicted to methamphetimine for 5 years. Never hit "bottom" thank God, but it definitely made a mess of my life for quite awhile. One day, I'd had enough of the mess and walked away from it and I've been clean since 1995.

Key...here's the important part....I'm not sure I could walk away from SL at this point. I've made countless friends and careers and I *love* my SL more than I'd have ever thought possible....and I'm not quite 2 years in. I get positively antsy if I'm not connected in some way. I even bought a Blackberry, so that I stay connected.

If I had known when I was a few months old just how deeply addictive it was...I may have given it some very serious consideration.

Hope you all will still respect me after these admissions :(

Thanks, Mo...that was hard. It's not something I'm proud of. Being addicted to SL isn't something I'm proud of either, but I'm not going to do anything about it either :X

Hug you Bear :)

Fellow SL addict- not even considering doing anything about it. Might as well break my addiction to FL.

Don't let anyone tell you you aren't a strong woman. That is one of the most impressive things anyone could do.

Thanks Jer. And throughout my life, that's the phrase most often applied to me...strong woman. It amuses me, because I just call it getting through life.
