From: Maureen Boccaccio @ 3Ring: did you finish shoveling? oh yes. and i have the back pain to prove it. =/ it was supposed to storm terribly beginning around 5pm last night. we had a big poker party planned here that got cancelled yesterday morning due ot weather predictions, but at the last minute a bunch of friends decided to chance the weather and come on over since the sun was still out at 4pm- and guess what? not a drop from the sky all night. we had a ton of fun and i broke even! everyone had safe drives and we had good eats and only a two people were too chicken to go out and chance beating the (potential) storm home. it is JUST NOW starting to sprinkle a little (so hopefully rain and no snow today at my elevation), but it's very windy. that's scary with tall trees, brittle branches and a snow load on them. while i've heard of trees slamming houses, i have never seen it around my neighborhood. my trees appear to be healthy near my residence. but, that's the only thing i have to worry about today - that and 4 cats meowing constantly because they are bored and want outside... LOL well, Jimi doesn't meow to go out. he just meows if you are not paying attention to him. i sure love that sweet kitteh!

From: 3Ring Binder any word on Garrett? how is everything? I forgot to give an update. She apologized for giving me a scare, and anyone I told -- the RL emergency was that her best friend got hit by a drunk driver, but she came out of it with just cuts and bruises and such, though her car is totally crumpled.

Thank you, Brenda.
Enjoy the race. Who are you rooting for? I was reading about it and realized I know almost none of those guys - it has been too long since I followed it.

@ 3- headed in now- was tricking out a forgotten alt @ Mo- yup that was just Saturday- right now am going to go hunt down a particle class i saw coming up - Particles are so beating me up! According to my chat log, the Puppeteer class was held in http://slurl.com/secondlife/West%20Haven/82/172/28. Re Plop- I DL'ed ages ago- opened it and closed it as I couldn't be bothered with the menus- I know its supposed to be so easy but i prefer written menus - the pictures were annoying and I didn't quite get it I guess- maybe after the class. Tehre are a few Sculpt ones today but I don't think I am ready to tackle that.

Enjoy the race. Who are you rooting for? I was reading about it and realized I know almost none of those guys - it has been too long since I followed it. Well, the race was shortened by about 50 laps due to rain, with Matt kensith as the winner. My 2 favorite drivers did not do as well as I hoped. Tony Stewart finished 8th, and New Jersey's own Martin Truex ,Jr finished 11th. But it is a long season ahead.

My guys Mark Martin and Bobby Labonte (the pride of Corpus Christi) would have had a chance if the race had continued. I've never seen NASCAR so quick to call a race for rain! (cuss, cuss, grumble, grumble). While I'm here, I had a nice Valentines, but I'm just a tad jealous. Looks like the Shades of Red party was a great success! I'm sorry I missed it. Thanks to everyone that shared their pics from the party.

From: Brenda Connolly Well, the race was shortened by about 50 laps due to rain... NASCAR... hmmm... Just curious, in the news today there was a story that "The pace of global warming is likely to be much faster than recent predictions, because industrial greenhouse gas emissions have increased more quickly than expected and higher temperatures are triggering self-reinforcing feedback mechanisms in global ecosystems, scientists said Saturday." Now I know that stopping a bunch of hillbillies from getting their jollies racing around in circles won't solve this problem, but do you ever wonder about supporting a sport that doesn't base itself entirely on consuming petroleum products and spewing their byproducts into our atmosphere? Jus' askin'.

They really didn't wait too long, did they? From what they said, the rain was expected to last about 90 minutes, and by the time the track was ready it would have been 11PM or so. Too late to restart.
