Yup I'm with Conan. If you're really lazy, buy one of those roasted chickens at the grocery, then use that. Very flavorful.

I need a cup today. *sniffle*

I'm not a fan of using roasted chickens in soup. It's a bit darker flavor for my taste, better suited for Turkey Soup, at least for me.

It's also incredibly offensive to British people, so it's probably best you didn't see it. I'm suprised at Oryx. Racist.

Yummy sounding soup Brenda- I made a recent discovery- who likes couscous?

Usually it is made with water and whatever u add to it- I decided to make it with chicken stock.. Yum! Chicken stock, parsley, garlic and olive oil - tonight we had it with fish- the other night accompanying lamb-very good both times. I have bonito flakes used in some Asian soups that might be worth trying too.. hmm... /me goes off to plot an odd cultural culinary melange...

Yep. Chicken stock in place of water for rice and pasta is very good

Why this unreasonable fear/distrust of cheese, fromage, queso, et al?

I tried basil in it, but it didn't seem to work with that recipe. What you could do is add some chopped tomatoes and even a red bell pepper, and use the lemon juice and the basil and that would give it a different spin.
