Hmmm...I wonder if anything will be left of this thread when I come home on Monday.

Hell, I left for three months and the thread is still going... I am having a hard time catching up or maybe keeping up is more appropriate.

Kaimi, so glad to hear from you and sooo sorry about the awful situation with your daughter; my thoughts/prayers are with her/you/your family.

But my very best congratulations on the birth of your 6th grandchild!!! :)

Went into my garden to smell the roses.

Well, I have no roses, but the humble hosta made me very happy

Looks lovely, Brann; seeing that flower made me very happy, too.

No, I have to march the picket line to collect my buck-ninety-nine in strike pay.

They're expecting people to cut their last long weekend short to picket on Monday. By that decision they've not only handed management a big chunk of cash (our paid vacation day) but have alienated the membership, most of whom - at this location - don't want the strike anyway.

Fortunately, my bank will let me skip a mortgage payment if this goes through. Between that and eating sand for a while, I should be okay.

Well that just stinks on so many levels. :( Fingers are crossed for you...

Holy hell, I knew I was a little short on sleep, but...

I fell asleep for 4 hours right after work yesterday, woke up for 5, and then slept for 13 more.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, Kaimi; I hope it turns out well for her.
Thanks and thanks for everyone's good wishes. It is hard when relationships don't work out and there are children. I wish they weren't so far away, but hoping it all works out ok somehow.

From: Trout Recreant
Welcome to the NW! I hope you're enjoying the Cascades. I feel like the Mt St. Helens areas and Goat Rocks are second homes to me, but you're right, the altitude and steep ascents will kill you.
Thanks again. Yes it is just beautiful. The altitude isn't so much killing me as giving the lazy part of my brain an excuse to override the part that knows I probably could go a little further, lol.

From: Trout Recreant
Actually, I think steep descents are tougher on me than ascents. Going up, you can just lean in and grind up the trail, but all that braking on the way down is hell on the thighs and knees.
I agree. I can only run so far uphill but running down kind of stubs my toes and makes me kind of have to counteract falling the whole time. For walking I'd have to say downhill is a bit easier.
It's always easier to run with someone else pacing, although I'm so slow that pretty soon I tell my daughter and the dogs to run ahead and then they're out of sight. She says one of the dogs keeps slowing down and looking back for me. Dogs are so cool.

Completely narcissistic post...

Me, me, meeeeee.....

Has anyone managed to actually read this whole thread?

Long may it live and perhaps in the future, scholars will read it and come to understand our time in an oddly accurate way.

I tried, I failed.
I peek in every now then to see if the thread has died yet.
It hasn't yet, smells bit funny though.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
