I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

what a great thread to get your first post. Maureen isn't around to give you your gold star, but I'm sure she will tomorrow. Have a seat and Brenda will be along with her duct tape to secure you to it.

Michael Phelps of the US swim team is now the winningest Olympian in history, with 11 total gold medals. He's trying to win 8 in this Olympics, to beat out Mark Spitz's previous record of 7. Michael only has 3 more to go; he's won 5 golds so far.

This was pretty much my backyard growing up, Flushing Meadow. our house was towards the right of the picture.

This is just how i imagined it! To me it's like you live in a legendary place.

Damien's AZ pic reminds me a little of Las Vegas.

You all live in such fab places.
it's true all the pictures look just beautiful. But that house in the pines...maybe the best of all!

It's too good to be true. But damn, if it *is* true I'll be breaking down the door to have a look!
You and me both.

The town I live in is less than exciting, but we have stuff like this just a few miles away.

I'd post a pic of my town but, well, 1 stoplight towns aren't that exciting. They had the 175th Town Anniversary last week. Nobody outside of town even knew we had stuff going on- like a parade and a festival down by the riverfront.

Ok, the Festival sucked. 6 "tents" of groups or companies that aren't even IN town. 2 or 3 food stands. And local bands- mostly polka, country & oldies.

Only 1 interesting thing: The town was at one time renowned for being the major manufacturer of Kiln Bricks for the Steel Industry.

Where I grew up:

This is not the actual place, but looks damn near the same. Dirt poor. We moved into a newer trailer with our own land outside of town when I was about 10 or 12 or so. We had trees and everything there. Moving up with the rich folk.

It's funny the way you see things as a kid.

In some ways I guess it is. It was pretty much just a swamp, called Willets Point, which is still the name of the subway stop at Shea Stadium. It was built up for the 1932 World's Fair, called Lake Success, and eventually became known as Flushing Meadow-Corona Park. Another World's Fair came along in 1964 as did Shea Stadium, where The Beatles played the first ever Stadium Concert in 1965. The 2 smaller stadiums are where the US Open Tennis Tournament is held, the Larger of the 2 is Arthur Ashe Stadium and the smaller is Louis Armstrong Stadium, called the Singer Bowl when it was built in '64.

An up to date picture would of course show the nearly complete CitiField adjacent to Shea, which will open next season. That means that the day after the Mets last game this year, hopefully well into October, my beloved Shea will meet the wrecking ball. :(

I thought redundancy was good in Tech Stuff? Like Engineers, who wear belts AND suspenders.

Oh sure, for things like offsite data storage.
Maybe we can box up the auditors and stuff them in a warehouse in another state. That should help.

How about sticking them in one of those trailers?

/me wonders whether it could diminish his reputation any further to admit he used to be an auditor?
