I had a pastor who recommended that before one get married, they have a year long engagement. That way one has gone through all the seasons with the other person - seen how they react to things like "my folks or your folks" during the holidays, how they are in all the different situations that will come up in a year. This is talking RL of course and time in SL is so very compressed, but I still think it is excellent advice. I had heard that somewhere and so insisted upon it with my current husband. He proposed in less than a year's time and I told him that while I loved him and was agreeable to marriage, that I absolutely would not marry him until we had been together at least a full year.

Im new to this forum but I had something like that happen to me on another forum I go to. We talked everynight and were very close and personal. Then I found out that he had someone else that lived closer to him and he decided his chances with her were better. I cant tell you how horrible I felt. We were on the same board and he invited her to post the day he told me that it was over. I tried to be nice but I was jealous and it still hurt me terribly. I felt so betrayed and dumped. I finally ended up going to another board a friend had opened up and once I was there I was ok. It doesnt matter if its online it still can hurt like it was in r/l. Dont let anyone tell you that you are naive or anything like that. Some people arent effected by it but some like us are. Just try to be more careful with your heart and your feelings. I know its hard to do but it can save you from a lot of heartache. Take care of yourself.  |
