Best Female Skins and Shapes???

Well for newbies, there is a really good free one that used to be at the Free Dove called Shy Caramel - the best freebie skin out there and easily as good as some of the L$800-L$1500 price range skins. Obviously if you want photorealism then you have to pony up.

By the way, is Neko just tails and ears? I have a skin that looks like a snow leopard, leopard ears, and tail. So if I wander around as a Neko, I shouldn't wear that skin?

Apollonia, I wear RaC all the time and I don't look 12 years old....it mainly depends on the shape you are wearing and mine is very curvy....

I agree with this. I think that what may make them look young is that RaC skins have very sweet faces. I have 2, and want to get more. I sometimes go and buy up a bunch of their demos, just so I can plan what my next "look" will be. My alt has a less expensive skin pack which is okay, but for myself, I haven't found anything to beat RaC. Of course, if you want more of a vamp or dramatic look, that's hard to find at RaC. Originally that was what I was looking for, but I just fell in love with RaC skins so decided that my avatar would have to be less dramatic and more sweet. But I get compliments all the time on her.

You can do whatever you want. Some Nekos are closer to human, some closer to furry, and some switch around. I ALWAYS have cat ears and eyes, and usually a tail...sometimes the latter doesn't work with the clothes I'm wearing, so I pretend I'm temporarily Manx. lol I normally use a human skin, frequently with a large kitty spot tattoo, but I also break out the full leopard skin every now and again.





It really just depends on what YOU like.

I love my TaP Redhead and Pixel Deep Lustre skins for my redhead look. For my black look, I adore CS Charmed in the darkest tone (80). Wish they went even darker. I use Pixel Deep Lustre raven for my Asian look, but I'm still tweaking that one. I've spent a lot of time looking for perfect skins and these are my favorites. The only one I've actually gotten compliments on is the Charmed, with my supermodel shape.

I make my own shapes.

Wow, lovely. I have no idea what I like I try to always wearing my ears, but since my tail looks like a rat tail I normally try to not wear it too often (also have a leopard tail, but it looks like something I pulled off a stuffed animal and attached to myself). I haven't found kitty eyes yet (I mean my kitty eyes).

Your tail does look a little...hrm, scrawny? If that 's the brand I think it is, I'm not a big fan of their Neko parts. I like Fa Nyak's 'parts' for every day wear, Anisa Naumova's old style ears (which I believe you can still get on SLX) and new tail, and Jungle Voodoo ears (not crazy about the tails) for occasional use. I have no idea where I bought my eyes - 'Properties' won't tell me the creator's name - but Miriel Enfield and E's have nice ones.

The female avi I use for photoshoots has a great skin called "Lily" by Artilleri (sp). Creator name is Antonia Marat.

I made a shape to go with the skin, though. It looked not-so-good with the shape I first demod it on.

I "might" be a little biased, as I'm a shape designer too, but I honestly think that my shapes are pretty good. I recently made a shape for my girlfriend, and I checked a lot of different skins. So far a Naughty Design skin has the edge, although there's a chance that a RAC skin will take over. Anyway, check out the pictures, it's a ND skin (Tulle Low Gloss) and a slightly modified PBC shape (Julia)

Thanks to the people contributing to this thread! I tried out several of the places mentioned and found what I was after at Sin Skins. It looks very like the home-made one I was using feature-wise, but much better executed as regards quality.

I just started making female skins myself, so this thread was interesting just to see what was out there in terms of quality. I'll jump into SL after the downtime to check out the useful suggestions I just designed and added my first female skin and shape to my shop - called "Elise"... my girlfriend tells me she looks a bit like Liz Hurley.



I spent about 8 hours getting that right, and only then did I realise just how much work goes into these things. So there's no makeup sets yet, and I've been busy building.. hehe

Here's to making SL awesome to look at .. (at least for me, as I'm quite partial to the wonderful female form.. )

Oh and to answer the original question, my favourite skins are RAC and Sin Skins. My shape started as one of Colette's modifiable set, which are good for people new to SL or shape making. It gave me a good place to start from. It's been pretty heavily modified at this point.
