Tete a Pied is another popular one, although I don't feel that the line suits my av.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Something to keep in mind:

If you're like me, you may have skins from several creators for different looks. To keep my avi looking consistent facially, I took a shape I could modify and tweaked it, then renamed it and stuck it into the same folder as the skins it coincides with. Ex: I love Vogue skins by CS and I have a specific skin and prim lashes that I wear with those. I have another version of the same shape and lashes for my Gala Skins. (Different makeup requires the prim lash placement to be tweaked sometimes.)

My eyes pretty much stay the same from skin to skin, but the one that almost always changes is the lips. Some skins are shaded in a way that makes me look like I've been attacked by a Bevery Hills surgeon. Others make it look like the Joker. Noses aren't bad but a couple of them made me look like I had a Janet Jackson nose.

Panjen makes an awesome blue skin that I use occasionally. AD makes a fabulous grey vampire skin.

I've used the same Torrid shape for quite a while because it's mod/copy and reasonably priced. Good option for someone newer to give them a place to start while they try different styles out.

Well I decided on Gala skins and Body Doubles shape since they are modifiable...i found one closest to what i wanted and altered it...
But that was only after checking out all the recomended places and one HUGE mistake..
I thought i was buying a demo....phone rang, i got distracted and confirmed what i thought was a demo purchase at skin within...turned out i paid 3600L for the most horrible skin i have ever tried on, I have worn freebies that looked better...and of course they are no trans so i am stuck with them:-/
but thank you to everyone who offered advice.

My girlfriend wears Skin Flicks Miss July skin right now. They are beautiful, she was wearing Miss December before and that is also a fantastically detailed and beautiful skin. The Packs there come with the shapes as well as a number of makeups, not exactly sure how many.

Today we were out shopping and we can across a new skin shop called Puss n Boots i believe. Stunning faces on these skins too, we took some samples to go over and all round they are a very well done skin.

I know you said you bought your skin and shape already, but I really have to put in my two cents for RaC skins! I use something different and less expensive for my alt, but Sunni wears nothing but RaC. I have 2 so far, with 6 different make-up styles each, and plan to get more when I get some lindens together. They're pricey, but not the most expensive I've seen, but they are the best. I frequently go and buy a bunch of RaC demos just because I like trying them on so much!

I made my own shape.

However I do prefer Charmed and Nomine skins for my normal modes. I use jungle kitten and ones from Broken for my full neko and vamp modes respectively.

If you can get a modify-ok shape, then you could buy one to start. Otherwise, try making one of your own and tweaking mercilessly.

One big help I did find with making shape was this: http://www.beautyanalysis.com/mba_thefacialmasks_page.htm

Although these look like guys' faces, they are actually unisex eigenfaces which help get the proprtions right on an attractive face. You can upload these, paste them onto prims, and use them to align your shape. (I can't give out the ones I uploaded into SL because of their copyright restrictions.) You can see examples of how to apply them at http://www.beautyanalysis.com/mba_contemporarybeauty_page.htm

If you would like another skin from the same shop instead, try emailing the store owner and explaining, simply and quickly, what happened and what you would like to do. Be reasonable, and see what happens. The worst is that they say no...

Good luck!

So far... celestial skins (for me anyway) As for shapes...I got so fed up I just do my own and now i've opened a store. lol But you're right.... skins especially are tough and i wish I could master my dam Adobe elements program to do my own. But that's a long ways away. I have toyed with the idea of doing custom shapes for people but not sure how popular that would be. I have so much fun with it that i don't even care about the L's.. I'm just so tired of women looking like Jessica rabbit and Men looking like a cartoon version of Hercules.

Colette Meiji has some nice shapes. For female skins RaC has the best in my opinion, but they are rather pricey.

I second that. RAC has nice eyes too.

KMadd has some REALLY nice (probably the best) male shapes.

I believe last time I dropped by I saw some female ones as well.

Dyna Diller also known as Body Perfect has some of the best shapes I have bought, they are mod but I have put them with alot of skins and not much mod is needed as her shapes are perfecto.

My shape is mine, with a little tweaking from "a friend" ;) and I use Sin Skins Stratus. It gives me that fresh faced, girl next door look that has mesmerized clueless noobs for months now. :p

I second this. If you want a gorgeous, yet realistic shape, Colette is the best going.

For skins, I prefer Sin Skins. They're gorgeous, come in a range of shade and make up, AND freckled versions are available in every combination I've checked.

I made my own shape also; the proportions were tweaked and refined with help from a good friend. I have variations of the basic shape with differently-shaped lips, to go with certain skins.

I have a lot of skins, and Celestial and Gala Phoenix have always been some of my favorites. At the moment my favorite is a dark-tan skin from Naughty, the shading is beautifully done. I wear that one almost all the time. I've tried demos from RaC, and liked them; I'd probably buy one if they were available singly.

I recently bought a shape from Naughty, and I love it, and then I added a skin from x2 to it. The x2 skins are pricey, but fantastic - very very realistic.

My quest for the perfect boobies may be over :)

I too have X2 skin. I tried many different places but these made my freebie skin (I think I was using CS Passport) and home made shape really come to life, so to speak. Like others have mentioned I've had to slightly change my shape for each skin so that I got the look that I wanted with the skin that I liked. I've had less trouble with hair, but I stick to one color scheme for the most part (Deviant Kitties Blonde Punk).

My only beef with the X2 skin is that it is shaved. OMG, I can't believe I just said that!

/me blushes and runs away.

I have that same complaint about a lot of skins.... many times, in trying on demos, I've come across one that's really beautiful, but is shaved, or nearly so. I wish more skin makers would realize that not everyone likes the shaved look.

Mine is from Nyte and Day and I couldn't be happier with it. At L$495 for one skin and make-up combo they don't cost the earth and are even tintable so you can adjust the tone to suit you.

I like my skin/shape combo I have Pale Goddess Skin From Snowflake skins and the Ziyi Zhang Shape from Body Doubles. Sometimes I also wear Snowflakes Drow Skin, I like that Drow skin the best out of all the drow skins ive come across in the past.
