I too have no issue with escort/strip clubs being here. They do add an expanded bit of fun for those that like them.
There are too many other kinds of interesting things to do in SL, but if I were to go to them for my entertainment, I would look for something other than 7' tall 'Amazon Barbie Dolls" dressed in skimpy costumes surrounded by equally tall "Broad Shouldered, Narrow Waist, Small Headed guys" (Thanks Brenda for the descriptions from another thread) ogling at pixel boobies.
Someone with some creativity and something that tweaks the imagination is a lot more erotic and stimulating in my opinion.
But then to each his or her own.

From: Deira Llanfair How about tipping the animator who created the dance? If that is the same person as the dancer then good on her - it's very tricky, hard work!
*Deira who is very busy creating a Fan Dance for Brenda to try out* Ah, now that would be different. What you are talking about would be a very specific case. The overwhelming majority of dancers are using the same couple or 3 anims, the creators of which must have made plenty from by now. An a sexy av is not exactly hard to create either, the majority of dancers look basically the same, sexy doing the same old dances. Hence the need for a personality to get the attention. Ordinarily the creator of the dance would not concern me, as that's between the dancer and the creator, the dancer invests in a dance to earn money, the creators know the market they are working too. However, if, as you say, the dancer is the creator, well, that might earn them a little extra off me. Especially if it's something new and different. However, you'd have to let the customer know, and to do that, it's talking time. It's basically what I said before, about getting noticed in the crowd of dancers. That would do it Now, i understand what a pain it is to animate, i've dabbled with it in the past. I'm quite prepared to pay for something that's good, and took time to create. I paid 250 for the walk for my av, which is top end price for a single walk. But it's well done, and the only example of it i could find. I'd happily tip the dancer extra if she was the creator.

From: Chris Norse Why did Mallory climb Everest? Why did Columbus risk falling off the edge of the world? Why did Lewis and Clark cross the continent? Funny you should mention......On this day in History: Jun 26, 1804, The Lewis and Clark Expedition reached the mouth of the Kansas River after completing a westward trek of nearly 400 river miles. Whose boobs they saw other than Sacajawea's is unknown.

From: Daz Honey yeah, don't assume that all the escorts in SL even need the money, there is a lot of fantasy being fullfilled by being that sexually open, the tips and pay just add to the authenticity of the fantasy in many cases.
There are people who think it is 'easy' money (no pun intented) but consider that being an escort/erotic dancer etc is also role-playing to indulge a fantasy. Somehow being a sex slave is (generally) socially acceptable - While playing a call girl is less so. I find that ironic.

From: Strontium Decosta A thread on a subject I can contribute too, yayy. Having been around stripclubs since i came to SL (soon found my niche), I know what I look for. Somone who can talk. As has been stated, the actual imagery here is not that great, you can get much better for free from many places on the net. It's all about the interaction. A price list and demands are not interaction. Thats just annoying. As are pushy hosts/ doormen. I'll tip the dancer if she's worth it, and I tip quite well. But, you have to give me a reason to tip that dancer, as opposed to the bazillion other ones in sl. I've seen places that will instantly ban you for not doing so. Never seem too busy though. Be freindly, many of my sl friends are strippers/ escorts. They've helped me get a lot of things sorted (not just that, dirty mind you have). My house, furniture, how to modify things, a custom tattoo, etc etc all sorted, and for a better price than elsewhere, because I fraternise with strippers Oh, and if I went to some some club run by a middle class white kid on daddys credit card, who spouted a load of indecpherable rubbish at me, claiming its 'street slang' or whatever, in a desperate bid to seem 'cool', I'd be out the door faster than a scalded cat. I'll give you a hint jumpman, cool dangerous gangstas from the streets don't spend all their spare time on an internet sim. you give me a hint , i'll tell ya a rl fact, all i ever did when i was out in them street doin real dirt was play video games, play golf and ride fo wheelers, and stand still to get chased by hoes... i was playin Metal gear solid 2 when them people knocked my mf door down: 'get on the ground, don't move, let me see ya palms!' last three of the number is 084...western district of VA...google that! ya watch to many rap videos!...Jumpy will thrive and survive because everthin poppin in my head and flyin out my mouth is as real as it gets! square biz...

From: Brenda Connolly I agree with you on that. I wasn't aware of the sexual side when I came to SL but when I did, I'm not ashamed to say I was not put off by it at all. I toured a lot of the various venues and stores, and was amazed, amused and annoyed all at the same time. Amazed by the volume and and at some of the great content, amused at some of the intentional (and unintentional) humor, and annoyed at some of the sheer tasteless vulgarity and and unimaginativeness of it. we are sexual beings , (at least I am), in RL, no reason not to be here as well. While not a primary reason for being here, it does add to the fun. i got some pink pose balls for ya ahhh haaazzzz!

Interestingly (or not), what you come across as is a real twit....mildly amusing at times, but a twit nonetheless.

An a sexy av is not exactly hard to create either, the majority of dancers look basically the same, sexy doing the same old dances. Hence the need for a personality to get the attention. While I'd agree you absolutely need to have personality (it's the most important part), I'd disagree with the rest of the statement. (In case it had escaped anyones attention I do dance part time as the mood takes me. And yes it's for fun not the money. Call it a fantasy relief from my RL job) I have 20+ dances loaded when I'm dancing. Using 2 or 3 would really be totally insufficient where I work. I would also disagree that all dancers look the same. In SL I'm fairly anthropomorphic and so I'm 5' 7", slim, pale skinned with black hair and small breasts. My one concession to SL is 3 large tattoos that I always wear. For contrast the dancer next to me might be 6'+ with the finest breasts Dow Corning can manufacture, a permatan and a huge shock of blonde hair. Or the dancer next to me might be a striking red head or and dark skinned mixed race beauty. Point being there is plenty of diversity when one looks for it.

I built and ran a little club for a while. It was a dark cozy place. I put in a 48 animation pole/stage show that allowed for teasing the customers individually, right in front of their seats. I had tables where the dancers could sit in the customer's lap. I had 10 and 15 animation lap dance couches where you could actually dance in their lap. All of the "sex rooms" were actual rooms in the club, to give the impression that the dancer was doing something naughty. The whole concept was a naughty lilttle Strip Club near the airport (there actually was an airport next door). All of the dancers were "escorts" but none had the name escort - they were just bad girls who broke the rules and we had a lax, non existant management. This of course sailed over the heads of most of my customers. To the point where very few "got it" Eventually, someone with a great sales pitch and a lot of investment money claimed he would promote the club if I did it over upscale. Wanting the dancers to make money, I agreed and sold him the club. Turns out the investor was in Hoc up to his eyebrows and couldnt make his payments to the loanshark and the club folded. I had the most "advanced" dancing system around with over 70,000L in animations throughout, and it really didnt matter one bit becuase like some people have said here the dumber customers bring everyone down to their level.

well the right animations help alot..i've used those poles with all the tons of animations in them and wouldn't touch them again..they look fake they make the dancer look deformed in some of them and the animations were terrible with your face going through the pole or your hands nowhere near the pole and they scroll instead of have the drop down menu.. if i were to use a pole at all it would be one of the 3 animation poles because nobody has been able to take the time to make animations as smooth as the ones on the older poles..
most dancers dance free from the poles nowdays anyways..lastyear they were all on the poles or on tables..we all use huds now and really the poles take up room on the stages..
hearing we all look alike reminds me of clubs where they have hired new dancers and new to sl wearing the ever so popular malabu skin..it's a first step skin that girls get because it looks good and is free so i can see where people may come to that thinking..
what makes a good dancer?? well to put it all on here would take up this whole page but a few good important things i can put down..
well being a dancer for almost the past year now and having fun at it..i've trained lots of dancers and most are dancing in the top clubs or modeling or married ehehehe
1 a unique look..it's pointless to get on stage with 5 other girls looking just like you and expect to have an impact.
2 you have to enjoy being there..if you look at it as a job thats just what it is going to be and you will end up burrning out and become a boring show..you need to enjoy the role and get into it..for me it was always something i looked at as a turn on..i would take that energy and use it to share with whoever was in my IM's or infront of me..i let them know i was enjoying myself doing what i was doing and they were a big part of it..
3 never bring up money ever..keep money out of it as much as possible.. never should the man or woman infront of you ever feel obligated to tip you..if we are doing something right they will want to..they want to know we are enjoying ourselves as much as they are..and i do and so do they..
i really do enjoy the people i meet and anyone sitting infront of me when i am up there is treated from the mood i pick up off of them..if they are in a bad mood it is my job to make them feel better..wether it be them telling me all thier problems and me helping in any way or they just want to relax and be soothed ect.. to me bringing money into the subject kills any kind of fantasy or whatever that is built.. if you are in it for the money well you are missing out on the good stuff.. that is what i tell all my girls that have trained under me..
there is nothing wrong with being a dancer in sl..it's a fun job..the only thing that makes it wrong are the people that don't care for it..they look at us as shallow minded hoes out for a linden anyway we can get it and would drop our clothes the second money came into play..
ya i am sure there are those types..there are just as many regular people out there screwing each other over on a daily basis over land and items and whatever they greed for ..1,000 lindens is what ?? $4.00?? i've heard some pretty nasty stories about the regulars in this world screwing over people really bad for less.. eveyone makes thier money the way they want to make it in sl..not the way that have to make it..it's not like we need it to survive so we can eat.. we do what we do because maybe our real lives won't let us or we just enjoy the fantasy.. either way to judge a dancer like you might one in the real world is pure dilusional behavior..
