demanding LL do something about the fraud is useless. the new search increased relevance of camping by a significant margin. they want higher participation metrics and don't care if it is a fraud.
if you don't like it you need to be going to the mainstream tech press and saying something about it where it counts. when the scam is totally exposed in the tech press there is no chance of selling off secondlife at all.
and where is the petition site? anybody got one? if several thousand people signed a petition demanding action to control fraudulent business practices in sl then maybe they will listen. till then forget it. till then the new major business model is a sim with 14,000 duplicate spam prims in a skybox with tp landing set in the little store, a sardine can with 80 sleekbots to raise traffic, and all 80 of those bots and several thousand more one time logged in accounts all set with 10 picks pointing to the store.
basically it is all a fraud.
i hope LL will wake up, change the management out to business people instead of geeks, and develop a reasonable sense of ethics.

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Actually we do have another outlet for stories like this. Someone could become a CNN-i reporter and do an article on "Gaming the Game", OK, I know, before anyone says it, SL is not a game, it is a platform. Title sounded cool though Seems as though LL doesn't read the forums anymore but I bet a $L they will have people watching the CNN posts. EDIT: In fact I know they will be watching it now. Just checked and Jeska Linden has filed a report as an I-Reporter now. http://secondlife.blogs.cnn.com/

Now if you are suggesting that LL do away with traffic statistics I couldn't agree with you more. The current traffic/search "feature" is nothing more than an invitation to game the system.

I know this is slightly off topic but I wonder if anyone would consider anything posted in CNN's Second Life site more legit now when anyone can post almost anything there? One article was going on about this one Island opening that has the highest quality content in Second Life but it look all like boxes to me and not very remarkable. It reminds me of when my local news company was promoting a Second Life ponzi scheme.

Oh what fun! Since this post started, I've been on a bot hunt I looked in the lake.. creepy. There was another skin place that had a whole line of green dots, but they were just a bunch of avatars(?) sitting in chairs overlooking the water. Some had group titles, so I don't know how many were actually bots... but today I found another one on a sim listed on the popular list that advertises free lindens (trying to be as diplomatic here as possible and not give the name) and up in the sky at around 350 m, in a white box, was another bunch of zombies av's, all lining the sides of the box and a bunch in the huddling in the middle. Interesting part, as I stood on top of the box peeping in, I saw new ones popping in landing on the heads of the ones huddling together in the middle oh my, chasing down boxed up bots... I think I need to get a real second life... but its still fun best one I've found though.. is avatars in a tube... http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15/skullmom/avinatube.jpg

Paid a quick visit to the original bot graveyard and they have indeed installed a second level of hell. The lowest level is pretty full and the new higher level seems to be filling up quite nicely. And again, the lag was tremendous.

I also see that other vendors are starting to show up there. The primary vendor and a related vendor did not have anything I would purchase, but I was saddened that the clothing vendor was there.
I have purchased many of their products in the past, but as long as they have a store on that island, and that activity is going on, I will no longer purchase their items.
I've also filed a report with the iReport system at CNN - doubt it will do any good, but this is flat out abuse of the system.

Wow, that's just, er, not right But I notice that there is a little "affiliate vendor" tag on that sign, which I've seen on other camp-heavy locations for that store, so possibly the principals aren't actually choosing these spots themselves?

How is that not right? I find it a perfectly acceptable practice to act responsibily, and part of that is making sure that if there is an activity I do not like, I am not funding the continuation of that activity. I did not see that, but will check again. But that does not absolve them of responsibility - it would still reflect badly on the name. If it is a 'franchise', then I will contact the primary store, and give them a chance to request that franchise to move.

From: Susie Boffin This isn't fraud it's art. yes I suppose con artists consider it that.... the art of cheating the system (not directed at you btw, just con artists, unless of course you're a con artist)

From: Kokoro Fasching How is that not right? That's the vendor you meant, the one who is Not Right, or is that wrong? It's Not Right that they're participating in this, and they ought to be made aware of what is going on. Do you disagree with that?

I have created a petition!!! Online petition - Petition Linden Lab to stop 'gaming' of the system and fraudulent business practices Please sign so that we might actually get the Lindens to do something about this. (I used a link to your picture Maelstrom. I hope that's ok. ) The petition isn't in the search feature yet, it needs checking but you can sign if you follow the link.

Apparently Windlight nicely removes women's skirts and leaves you "nude." So, dress to the nines in your best skirt outfit, ruth yourself, then wander nice places. You will be dressed up on those screens that use the normal viewer, but naked on those screens that use Windlight. Ironically I noticed that my skirt was missing when I was using Windlight, blinked and thought to myself "oh, this must not have the skirt layer" and continued walking around with the sheer prim skirt over my legs (and yes, when I went back to normal viewer I saw the skirt and realized what had happened . . .after I saw posts on SL forum).

Seriously though....(ahem)
its now four days since I started this thread and reported the incident to lindens (yeah I know Im far too good) and those avvys are still at the bottom of the pool.
Does this mean its now considered okay for people to have as many alts as they want ?
Or only if youre out on your own little island paying extra lindens ?

You could be right. Perhaps if you're an island owner, you can do what you like with that island, including populate it with zombies.
