The underwater avatars are the result of gaming the traffic system; the new search uses traffic, so this stuff will go on. The new search also uses other things, such as our About statements, and Picks, and those too will be gamed. Before long we can expect to find traffic bots like these with About statements, Picks, etc., set up to raise some place or businesses rank in the search. When we look at picks, the pick descriptions in the search results won't be words in sentences meant to convey meaning to humans reading them, but will be lists of keywords chosen not to describe the pick but to influence search ranking. You can see this already, but I suspect it will increase a great deal once the new search is fully adopted.

Well I had a long talk with my alt and she stated she wants to dress up as a ruth, infiltrate thier ranks and lead a revolution now. Haven't seen her since then. If anyone sees a bot named ILove Frankfurter there, tell her I miss her and promise to treat her better.

Classic pictures.
This is a regular thing on many sims these days. I forget what I was out looking for but came across a builder/scripters 'mall'. I saw this crazy blob of green "t's" in the sky. Curiosity got the best of me. I threw on the x-flight device and low and behold 750m in the air was this 'room' that i think the owner was trying to make it invisible(with scripts or textures) but it was loaded with 50-75 bot's. The next day at a friends house I logged in on his PC to show him as we just laughed. I think the number of "Logged in" will drop quite a bit once the new search is implemented in the next client release. *fingers crossed* |

Regardless of the limitations of 'legitimate' alts per account, the number of illegitimate alts you can have is limited only by how many free email accounts you can make up. As long as you have unverified free accounts and a search system based on the traffic those accounts create, this is practice will not stop. I'd hoped the new search function would eliminate the absurdly gamed 'traffic' numbers, but I guess Linden Lab still needs to sell numbers to someone. So until Philip can sell his platform based on its reliability and stable, scalable environment. the 100,000 or so of us who actually enjoy SL will take a back seat to a corrupt practice that produces such wonderful numbers for Philip's sales pitch. _____________________
