It's unclear to me, after reading all 47 pages of this thread whether Magellan has or has not been found. Most of it seems to be arbitrary speculation interspersed with rhetoric and mild doses of conjecture.

So where in the world *is* Magellan Linden?

The answer is on page 73.

Well no, he hasn't been found yet. But things he leaves behind keep getting found, in some cases seemingly JUST after he left. Machines, notes, photos, things of that nature. A photo will be found showing Magellan driving or operating some weird contraption, and people will speculate; a month later, the contraption itself is suddenly found in-world, looking as if Magellan had recently abandoned it where it has been found.

Traditionally, Magellan "discovers" new islands and continents before the SL public does - upon visiting these new areas, residents can typically find new evidence of Magellan's recent passage and interest is piqued again.

Will He Or Won't He?

Magellan made an appearance at Nova Albion's second anniversary in 2006. He had discovered the lost city two years prior. When notice was send out about the second anniversary he showed up. (Albeit not in the most sober condition.)

The fifth anniversary is upon us (March 23rd), we he appear? Why should he? I guess it's kind of a "been there, done that" sort of thing.

Maybe if he knows Osprey will be there...

At the time this thread was started the conventional wisdom was that Magellan had not been seen inworld for two years. It was unknown whether he was even alive or not. That mystery was solved when Natacha Chernov spotted him on the (then) new Gaeta continent. A few others encountered him as well. So he was found. But then he disappeared again only to show up when Nautilus City appeared. Photos were discovered featuring him in various points of Nautilus City. It was unclear if he had taken those himself or if someone else did. I never heard any reports of any live sightings of him in Nautilus. There was nothing concerning him when the Blake Sea appeared. At least as far as I know.

Having had a chance to explore the Blake Sea sims finally during the Golden Heart hunt, I think it would be the perfect place for a rogue explorer to hide out and drink the day away. Perhaps he's hiding in the wrecks on Sirens Isle or in one of the little cabins on Half Hitch, scruffy and unrecognizable.

There is a bottle adrift in the Blake Sea with a note inside by Magellan telling of his plane crash on Siren's Isle.

Sadly no, I spotted it in my explorations and don't even know which Blake Sea sim. You might try sending a message to Marianne McCanne, if anyone knows, she would be the one.

I just popped over there to see what could be seen... the message in the bottle says this:

[8:42] A Message In A Bottle: Please rescue ~~~ ~~ name ~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ and I'm a pilot for the Blake Sea ~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~
[8:42] A Message In A Bottle: ~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ crashed, and I'm stuck on a tro~~~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ in ~~~ ~~~~~ part of the Blake Sea.
[8:43] A Message In A Bottle: The plane went down near ~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~. My EPIRB must be broken. I'm tired of eating fish!

It could refer to Magellan, hard to say with parts of the message missing. The crashed plane at Blake Sea - Siren's Isle seems to be some sort of passenger seaplane; there's a logo on the side like stylized waves, as if it's a professional passenger service for the area.

There's a crate open at the crash site with bottles in it-- one bottle at the site says 'touch to read,' but nothing happens when it's touched. I'm assuming 'EPIRB' refers to the emergency beacon there. When touched, it starts to give off smoke, and this message:

[8:46] Emergency Beacon whispers: EPIRB ID#P348LL983AE27: SOS-SOS CRASH COORDS: 90763@*%$^*&;)d?<>?q....

No signs at the site to indicate who the pilot was, or if he was rescued yet, or is just away from the campsite, or if there were any passengers. I had to log and get back to work though, so perhaps someone with more time and a sharper eye might notice something I missed!

Looks like someone already noted it out in Blake Sea - Indian. My best bet is that it relates to the downed seaplane in Siren's Bay, though it appears whoever was marooned there has since been picked up.

In talks with Michael Linden this week about poor Magellan, he did indicate that some of Magellan's favorite drink, Ol' Warthog, has been noted in the Blake Sea (I spotted a bottle of it behind the bar in Half Hitch). No idea if this shows he's been there -- or if some smart barkeep keeps a bottle on hand "just in case."

Magellan? I think not... :(

Hi all,

I've been out to the afore mentioned Blake Sea - Indian site and I don't think the bottle is from Magellan. Aside from the fact it doesn't belong to him (all the other stuff did, more or less) it doesn't feel like a ML crash site (and we have enough of them to know of what we speaketh by now).

I've taken some snaps and put a post up on my blog - if anyone uncovers any more news, drop me line in case I miss the forum (/me shame faced - it has happened).

The bottle roams. When flying to the above location I stumbled unto it by chance around 123, 231, 20. It has a 'float (kinematic2)' script inside. I wonder if it can go to other parts of the Blake Sea or if it will stay in Indian.

With the 5th Anniversary of Nova Albion and it's discovery by Magellan, It was noted that Magellan saw it from a dig in Luna. Now here is the question, Where in Luna? I don't know. How about a search party? Lets all get together and scour Luna...say Thursday March 26th? Anytime of day that suits you. I will be there at 7 pm SLT. haha Unless someone else finds somethin hehe.
Let me know what y'all think.

That was just a lot of hot air... but I totally see why you'd think it was him. Magellan is rarely fully loaded which is why he keeps an ample supply of Warthog handy at all times.
