I just did a search in old threads about the keywords, "land market crash" Then i went through some fast reading into the posts below . Dates are from 2004-2005, early enough i suppose. Some history teaching for us who were not here regarding SL seems to be a good lesson Same arguments all over again. Land barrons, supply and demand , lindens throw out too much land at once. Same thing, only the names of persons change. No matter whatever of us believe on the specific issue, who's fault it is, or what the solution could be, the history saws that land can go high enough at 20+ and low enough to 2l/meter. It all depends on when Lindens will throw too much new land on the market after a dry period for whatever reason. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 02-12-2005 New Continent News Damping Sales? /130/2e/35662/1.html11-03-2004 Crisis in Second Life /120/8a/26304/1.html11-03-2004 The Great SL Recession of '04? /120/12/26370/1.html11-09-2004 Bunch of new sims! /120/aa/26866/1.html12-14-2004 16 New Sims /120/8d/29864/1.html12-23-2004 Complete Land Auctions Summary /120/fa/30726/1.html02-12-2005 New Continent News Damping Sales? /130/2e/35662/1.html04-29-2005 August 2004 Land Chat With Corey Linden /130/60/44699/1.html07-14-2005 A call for ALL new land release to be URGENTLY SUSPENDED /120/7c/53724/1.html

Looks like we were well overdue some land-price based hysteria then.

From: Stephen Zenith Good. A free market in action, you had the choice whether or not to buy it yesterday and chose not to. Somebody else decided differently.
FYI, the map can be many, many hours out of date, so relying on that as proof of the speed at which parcels are flipped would be a mistake. I had used the map, and I used search directly. I'm not commenting on speed, really, but the fact that the property is changing hands mainly between resellers... which is status quo prior to the panic selloff, and what is keeping prices at the level they are now. I have to ask - all of you resellers who post in here, what is your rate of turnover? How often do you buy land, and how often do the plots sell? And then, do you note if it's yet another reseller buying the land? I imagine it has to be worthwhile for you to continue doing it. And I wonder how many actual end users are buying the land. I guess I'm looking for a sample to understand the behavior.

History is being written in SL today. a mainland sim just got a bid for 12k US$.
Ladies and gentleman, the secret is out. There is gold somewhere hidden in Mainland. That explains the prices. The hunt of the lost treasure

From: Cristalle Karami That person must think that they are bidding in Lindens. actually to see that jump in prices , from 3999 to 12000 and then 12001, you need 2 persons. 1 for bidding 12000 and then another one bidding 12001+ Someone uses 2 alts to just ruin the auction process. He will have no ittend to pay i suppose
