Looks like LL just added a lot of new Sims up on the far NE part of the main continent. So far they look kind of Pacific Northwest-ish (US) very green landscape with a lot of water nearby.

I say...

some of those names sound rather British and Scottish. Methinks there might be some choice spots for gothic castles, English pubs and moor stuff like that.

Check out the little town layout in Barrowdale and Brampton...

I'm so embarrased. I opened your picture and then tried to right click and drag on it to see the various sims. *BLUSH* :o

This new land doesn't represent a change in course for us. We normally bring a large number of sims on and then put them up for auction over time.

Overheard in the Emergency Room, Landville, USA:

"Doctor, quick -- I think I'm having a heart attack, my money -- GOM, Second Life... economy crashing, losing all my Linden's... *hack, cough, pant...*"

"Lay down on this bed, just take some deeeeep breaths and let me look at you."

"But Doctor, it's GOM! It's crashing, it's.. it's... my land, my land, my beautiful 512 parcels of land, GOM!"

"There, there, it's not gone... your land will still be there... don't worry. Hmmmm, increased heart rate... heavy build up of fluids... Mr. Land Baron, have you been drinking?"

"GOM! It's gonna crash, I'm ruined, RUINED! My Linden's -- I'm FLUSH!"

"Nurse -- we need to catherize this patient and get an IV of valium going. Oh, and check to see if the dentures are missing from his mouth -- he can't pronounce "gone" correctly. Either that, or we could be looking at a stroke..."

"GOM, crash, *whimper* it's GOM, my LAND, my MONEY!"

"Now just hold still, Mr. Land Baron, this catheter won't hurt one little bit..."

(To be continued.)

I must say that I LOVE the new starting area, so much nicer. Hopefully they can direct all newcomers here while they work on the old one ;)

Anyway, here are some pics :D

Lol, that's too funny! I'd probably do the same. I'm sure people will post better pics soon. I just wanted to give people who can't get on an idea of what showed up out of nowhere. :)

Edit: Lol See Damien's post above. :)

The sim names are all named after places in and around the English Lake District. 2 of them are spelled differently (or wrongly?) - Conistan (real place = Coniston) and Ableside (real place = Ambleside).

Its a particularly beautiful part of the country so hopefully the new sims will live up to their namesakes.

...and Windmere instead of Windemere.

Oh, how am I going to resist yet another vacation home lot :(

I really love the natural materials and native art. One of those totem poles appears to be from Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC -- a very familiar sight to me: http://travel.discovery.com/destinations/canada/bc/photo_zoom1.html

About the poles in Stanley Park (just in case you're curious): "These Totem Poles are replicas of the originals that represented the native tribes of the area. The Poles were the equivalent of a coat of arms and are only found in the tribes of the Pacific Northwest. They are not religious symbols... The poles are all carved out of red cedar. Each pole represents events or characters in the tribe's history." (link)

Lindens: where are the rest of the poles from?

Nice landscaping and terraforming -- even better than some of the "northern California" sims that recently came on the grid. But there's "cracks" between the new sims -- same as other areas of the grid. Hitting the cracks with a vehicle is kind of fun -- you get airborne.

Maybe they were named after local California streets which were themselves named after Lake District places? That would explain the spelling changes, since street names are sometimes spelled differently (or simplified) from their namesakes. Just a theory..

I gotta expand my Seefeld holdings, just so I can say "THERE'S A CRACK IN MY ASS!"

I do, however, just love that 'new sim smell'...

Siggy.

OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!

I'M SO EXCITED, I CAN'T HIDE IT!!!

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!

Cubey OMG you know what, I'm not too far from you and I was wondering why this area felt so familiar... that's a good observation! Who built this? Eric Linden and friends? KUDOS!!! Hey Cubey as I type this out, Kim Anubis is takin' a flight in your Orinthopter (I hear dogfight sounds) and I'm checking out the sights.

For anyone who's read Neal Stephenson's (Snow Crash's Metaverse has been influential to SL) Diamond Age, you will recognize the Vancouver connection -- as Stanley Park just happens to be featured in the book.

Update:

I think I just saw Huns Valen and his cyan superfighter go flying by.

I'm zooming through the skies in a Chage McCoy Stingray at the moment, trying to make some more sense of life.

And oh... watch out on the roads, there's roadkill. No kidding. Nice touch. ;)

I was in the area to-day, perambulating in my motorcar, and some cantankerous old coot named Ben kept standing right in the middle of the street - shaking his fist at me as I drove past!

The area is really fantastic, especially the Waterhead telehub.

I have one of my Halcyon jets outfitted with a Terra Combat System gun. Perhaps I will run into some other TCS-equipped aircraft soon. >:)

I checked them out last night.
Very pretty.
Everythign but the giant slugs.;)
I liked the rock textures on the ground too. Is this new to the sim?
I may have to buy a chunk of it just to ensure it doesn't get overdeveloped.

Found some tree generators in Keswick. Anyone else see 'em?

Sadly, they're not copyable. Inside each one was a (non-opening) script plus three kinds of trees. My guess is that they randomly distribute trees to make instant forests in new sims.

I saw one last night, but I can't remember quite what sim it was in. c.c
