I just noticed 16 new Sims (3 PG, 13 Mature) appeared joining up McFee and Solway.

Some very interesting land formations in Hite, Iaconelli, Joiner, Fritz and Meyers. I think LL are trying to tell us something, but I have no idea what...

Haven't flown out there yet, just seen it on the map. First Land is already open in Chong, though.

I am happy that the once landlocked water I am on now connects to the open sea. Funny how these sort of snuck in on us tonight. I took a pic of the region attached here. This pic does include some previously existing land, but it shows how the whole region has filled in there.

They have a sim with the name of CHONG!??! Muahahaha... what's next, CHEECH? :)

Really though, "Chong" is the abbreviated part of my Thai last name (IRL). Hmmm that's gonna look tempting.

I love the way we've now all become so blase about new land.

At one time it would have been OMG! SIXTEEN - COUNT THEM! - SIXTEEN NEW SIMS!

Now it's: "Oh, I was just flying along and happened to notice that we had sixteen new sims. *yawn*"

Sorry about the hyperbole, but it is interesting how things have changed. :)

I don't think "we...all" is very true. I have a feeling that that applies mostly to "oldtimers".. at least people older than myself - June 2004.

Since I have joined it has been one addition after another. This seems to be the norm now, not anything special.

Add to that the recent forum angst/discussion on server allocation and it's rather unsurprising that at least some people are not jumping up and down yelling "whoopee". "We... all" have a bit more experience with just how screwed up things can become, how hopes for "niceness" in the world, in terms of builds, performance, neighborliness can all be dashed/squashed/wastes of time despite beginning with a positive attitude. What's likely to happen seems inevitable - at least to me.........land baron auction poaching/speculation, more malling of SL, and the resultant forum drahma/angst about it.

Personally.... I would have rathered LL not add any new sims - there is a huge amount of land for sale right now. Instead, the 16 new servers could have been used to swap out/retire 16 old/first gen ones . But maybe that's just me.

edited to add: Adding new land to the world is not the solution to SL's current problems.... but it IS an easy way to distract people - based on past experience. Maybe that is changing as Selador suggests. Then again, 16 sims used to be a significant additon to the world.. now it's a fractional addition.

Kind of like the way Americans were with the space shuttle launches, til they started blowing up.

it's not just you korg. i would help morale tremendously if the next twenty "new sims" were replacements for the oldest pool.

i had hoped, based on the map images, for desert. but alas, they seem to be sloping into foothills. now, mind you, deserts are often surrounded by thin ranges of teep, tall mountains. hmmm

In Chinese it mean either "poor" or "insect" ;-)

I love the new sims. It seem most of them use Grizedale telehub where we just moved Centre Ville mall to. Hmmmm. I must be one Linden alt :D

Lecktor,

<<Kind of like the way Americans were with the space shuttle launches, til they started blowing up.>>

It wasn't just the Americans. It started with the moon landings; people were excited about the first one, but after that they lost their novelty value. I have never been able to understand how people could become blase about space travel. Space travel, for God's sake!

I was around when Sputnik One was first launched. I was thrilled then, and I am still thrilled now. Perhaps I'm just a kid at heart who wants to be an astronaut when he grows up. :)

Don't worry. The Land Barons will buy up all of the land, add carefully placed trees, put in roads, build beautiful buildings, and sell the improved land at a modest markup to cover costs and a fair profit margin. :D

Well I for one am very happy about these new sim's, but then again I am not a "oldtime" from 2 years ago.... I'm only a little over 2 months old........ I love flying and checking out things, an I am certinly gonna have a blast doing it with these new sim's thats for sure... :)

Torley - I for one would LOVE it if a Cheech sim was created, perferable next to Chong if that was at all possable. Then we could all go to Cheech & Chong land and all "get high" lolol I can see all the "pot" house's springing up like flowers all over the place.

Selador - Absolutly! You hit the nail on the head bud. And if you look at history, it goes back even farther than that......... The grass is always greener over the hill after all........

Heh

Most americans were that way when Apollo 12 landed on the moon. Infact no network covered 100% of that mission. Seemed when Neil Walked on the moon, the networks said, ok been there done that, (I remember my grandfather trying to find news on Apollo 12 for me)

But then Apollo 13 happened and wham 24/7 coverage. Then back to 3 hour coverage for Apollo 14 and when Apollo 17 left the moon, no one covered it.

I also noticed this for the skylab missions, the first mission got about 50% coverage, then the last one, no one remembered there was even a 3rd mission.

I wonder what it would take to get people's attention to follow a mission for decades and centuries to come.

When Rome fell, the citizens just asked if they would still keep their jobs and get their pay. When Odoser (SP) said yes, the citizens went back to sleep. I think that is all many red state people care about, if they will get their money. After that, nothing matters.

the more land there is for sale, the lower the prices get.

Some of those places have started to get mallified, but whinlatter, where I live, is beautiful.

And my neighbors rock too.

It seems like it all depends on the price for the particular sim land and who gets there first.

Yeay! Catherine LOLed!!!

Well, there might have been a touch of sarcasm in there, but I choose to ignore it. :)

Land prices HAVE dropped. To a third of the summer's prices. Back down the the old original prices, for the most part, at least acording to Philip's latest economics report.

But I think that may be heavily skewed by the First Land sales. It looked like those were included in the totals. I'd like to see them without the FL sales in there. (Runs off to post that in the right place...)
