There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

From: Clarissa Lowell I agree Gabriele - and I love regional 'sayings' to begin with. To me they are all valid, if they are what people use. /me imagines this just set Pep's hair on fire. I have found that when people say "that's what *we* say around here" they are generally covering up their own personal or family misapprehension in the face of an unwanted and justifiable challenge. My Dad (whose hearing is not great and whose ability to mix metaphors is admirable) occasionally attempts to promulgate such nonsense, but my family laugh at him when he does so, and point out his errors of perception. He also believes everything he reads in the papers or sees on the news on TV, poor thing, which wouldn't be so bad except he insists on trying to convince other people. Just because the BBC is usually grammatically accurate doesn't mean even its content is factual. Pep (these sort of things do not anger me; rather I feel pity and a little contemptuous for those who do not realise that not revising their errors once they are pointed out renders them the subject of scorn and ridicule, privately or publicly. )

Extrapolating from your experiences does not necessarily make you right either. I find it sad that a person is so preoccupied with such things he really doesn't have anything else to say.

Watching someone unravel hysterically into a blathering, feeble-minded schmuck.....well, it's just no longer necessary to point that out in public. Have a Nice Day.

From: Gabriele Graves Extrapolating from your experiences does not necessarily make you right either. I think someone said that to Einstein, too. From: Gabriele Graves I find your judgments to be about as accurate as Jig's are generally. I can't say I have noticed you putting up counter-arguments against my judgments; not unemotional ones, anyway. I suppose, like Love, you are going to say it's not worth it, because you have no coherent explanations. From: Gabriele Graves I find it sad that a person is so preoccupied with such things he really doesn't have anything else to say. I say a lot more about a lot more. Pep (You may consider my pointing out the inaccuracies of others a bonus. ) PS Mickey: the day will never arrive when you can tell me what is necessary or otherwise in a comprehensible fashion. and I didn't think *you* unravelled; I thought you started off as a "blathering, feeble-minded schmuck".

Pep, meh. Opinion shmopinion.
Shakespeare believed in creating new words. Language is dynamic.
You believe differently than I do about this. That is fine with me.

Oriented is a perfectly acceptable alternative to 'orientated.'
