Nope, I know when I am responding with sarcasm thank you very much and the situations I outline are definitely amongst situations I use sarcasm. Whether or not you choose to interpret it as that is another matter of course.

Well, it's like that song "Ironic" and whatshername sings "isn't it ironic?" and none of the situations are really ironic at all.

It's not really all about me - it's more about how the world appears to me. Some people prefer a silent absorption of the world - real or otherwise - but I have never been one of those. I like to tell people what I've done coz it just seems as if it's necessarily a part of being a human - to contact and communicate. In a nice way, I am just as inquiring about what other people do.

One problem with this "world" is that it is so private and so restrained that we gradually become two-dimensional. We don't experience each other's REAL lives, we experience their fantasies and dreams. Let's face it - other people's dreams are BORING.

So terrified are we of saying too much about our real selves that we end up sneering at anyone who does enjoy expressing what they are seeing. In my school, the whole emphasis was on expression and response. But I was prolly one of only a few that embraced that aspect of it. Its probable that if we told each of ourselves who we were and what we were like we prolly wouldnt believe one another.

I was upset last night. I felt violated by a person ARing me for my choice in art. A "little person" in my eyes who can't understand the complexities of a lovely painting or a sensitive photograph.

I look at my REAL wall and stare at a photograph of my mum when she was a model for a British photographer. Beautiful yearning eyes, a tilt of her neck, exposure - and realize that if I had placed that on my wall in sl, in a PG environment, it would be deemed immodest and unsuitable. And then, I smile coz you can go into ANY credible bookshop in any city in the global community and BUY the book that has a reproduction of that picture. It's simply not regarded as "unsuitable" by any stretch of the imagination.

And imagination is what is the credo of this virtuality. It just doesn't add up.

No, it isn't like that at all and you are hardly one to lecture about language and it's usage when your interpretation of "I am leaving" is to stay around and your version of "I will be posting less" means "I will be posting more or at least the same as usual".

There is nothing nice about some of what you post and the judgements you like to make when supposedly asking questions.

This is a prime example of what I am taking about. Judgement about them motives of others and their problems as you see it. Any wonder why people don't like this kind of post?

You broke a rule and got a suspension. Coming here and talking about it was skirting another suspension, you were lucky.
It was not the end of the world however and You should have known how the Lindens would be and how they interpret PG by now. Is that the way it ought to be? No, but if someone were to have asked me whether LL would tolerate nude art on PG land I would have said "probably not" to them long before your AR report.

If that sounds cold and callous to you, maybe it is and perhaps that is just the way I am - I tend to say thing the way I see them and I have never been one to sugar-coat the lily.

That isnt "ironic" - that is an observation. Irony is using language of a different or opposite tendency. Or it can be "an ill-timed or perverse arrival of an event or circumstance that is in itself desirable" (Oxford Dict) Or it is the use of language with one meaning for a priviledged audience and another for those addressed by the speaker or concerned. Irony means "simulated ignorance".

Actually, my entire world - and my income - depends upon using language to emote and to foster reaction. And I make good money doing it.

Dont you mean "GILD the lily" dear???

And considering how many people discuss suspension and the Lindens attitudes to avis I hardly think I am "skirting" anything here. In fact, I have NEVER disputed the Linden policies once they are established and consider their management to be perfectly adequate for this world.

My real feeling is that I find anyone - ANYONE - who reports as a Vigilante (and that is really what happened to me, I believe) to be a "tell tale tit" (as kids can say) and is NOT deserving of any respect by any self-respecting person. NO society regards those who betray others as anything other than despicable and people who act in that capacity are avoided at all costs. Vigilanteism is one end of taht spectrum of behaviour and appeals to a specific type of person.

Interesting that you haven't mentioned the money thing in a while. I'm assuming you are no longer paying your partner for the grammar lessons you're posting.

No, I mean what I say - do you not understand that different areas of the world may have slightly different ways of saying the same thing? I thought you said you knew about language and it's uses? Again I will say it, not very convincing.

Paint the lily.

SALISBURY:

To gild refined gold, to paint the lily,
To throw a perfume on the violet,
To smooth the ice, or add another hue
Unto the rainbow, or with taper-light
To seek the beauteous eye of heaven to garnish,
Is wasteful and ridiculous excess...
-- Shakespeare, King John

Maybe this is where we see things differently and perhaps it explains something. I don't see us as chained at all. I don't see us having anything that links us especially that I don't share with other posters. I certainly would not describe it as chains. Perhaps you are taking too much of this to heart and that is why you have felt it is personal.

It' a sort metaphor - anyway, if I post, I can be sure you'll find some fault or point I have failed to address. Really I kinda referred to that film where two convicts are manacled together and escape but hate/love each other - heaven forbid that would happen, eh? I would have to find a deserted barn and an axe. :)

Thank you Argent! I never knew that and it's a great quote - but it lack the ooomph of "gild the lily" doesnt it? Must refer to the "fleur de lys" on a banner.

Now avis all, I go to collect wild blueberries in the forest (Really). Fare thee well! I shall return!

Not really, in the thread where you ask for help with BBC shoutcast streams, was I not helpful? Did I not try to provide answers and incite others to post links for you? Was I once critical to you about your posts there? That was a good thread, Jig. Does that not suggest to you that it isn't *you* but what you usually post that is the trigger for my criticisms?

Perhaps you only see what you want to see hmmm? Sometimes, I get the feeling you want to feel persecuted for something.
