... because 'it might encourage others to break the rules'?

It seems that any criticism of the Lindens is now officially forbidden in these forums.

Good of the community is with-in our charter. Not like the thread in question was closed exclusively for that. Honestly not entirely sure what to make of that thread, hence the comment on what LR will do.

Questioning LL could be considered good for the community.

I totaly agree, questioning LL is a good thing.

It is like sitting down to eat without washing your hands after halding raw chicken. The topic is unclean in a number of ways. Sure the meal may be delecious and good for you but you get food poisoning from your dirty hands.

Selador could you empty your Private Messages? It's full (was going to tell you I moved your thread).

EDIT:
I am really courious to what LR thinks of the orig thread. I think it was better to have locked it then not.

So Mods are allowed to close thread because someone may hypothetically be encouraged to break the rules.

What is this kindergarten?

Strife, they weren't questioning why they were suspended, they admitted they deserved it. They were asking why it had not happened before. The thread was worthy of discussion, it raised some interesting questions that have certainly been on my mind. I'm sorry, I feel you were way too trigger happy on this one, and not for the first time I'm afraid.

Your reasoning is very shaky, in my opinion. Flavian pretty much summed it up.

Sorry, I'd have to say that the thread in question *is* a good one, and brings up questions that really need to be addressed. It was not at all about why someone was banned. It was very much about why LL doesn't seem to be banning repeat griefers.

(As for your anology about how questioning SL in the forums is like salmonella, I'm afraid that that went right over my head. Sorry.)

Everyone (including myself) seem to agree that LL needs to address this. I have seen to it getting reviewed; which is the first step.

Just need to give the system some time to work.

Any way you look at the thread LL needs to address it and review it. I have seen to it getting reviewed.

And the salmonella? I still want to know about the salmonella.

WHY WON'T ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT THE SALMONELLA!!!!

Address what? The issues raised, or whether the thread should exist? A Linden review won't do anything for the former, and as for the latter, you can't say 'everyone' seems to agree... because people are here disagreeing.

Suppose the first version of the last post was better.

The salmonella analogy was relating the entire food consumption, preperation and risks to that of the fruition of the thread.

We all seem to agree that the reasons for closing the thread weren't perfect.

Seems to be the MOTD :( for me i thort for once it was an interesting and well constructed thread with some very pertinant points, but Resmod fever struck the thread down, what the hell has happened to freedom of speech? ;)

LOL! I knew this would happen!!

"An, lo, in the final days of the forums there shalt be ResMods that cling to power blindly, enforcing rules before they are broken in a vain attempt to feel important and hold on to their ill-conceived and corrupt powers."

And so the prophecy has been fulfilled.

AH, so THAT'S how to get things done!

So, do you think you could just go refer one of the numereous posts along the lines of 'fix the bugs before you add any more new 'features' please LL' for LL review?

Then presumably that issue will be addressed?

I agree that closing a thread does nothing.. and it does, however incourage people to do it again, like doing it again just to see the retaliation.. I will not use a striffe onizuka analogy, however I will just say it is safe to say that everyone in SL has a voice, and should have the right to "Question Linden Lab". To allow that, it WOULD solve alot of problems, but that is my opinion.

Well this is a bug....
10-31-2006 23:16
Noted this is the wrong forum to post this but consider it proof of concept.
going through the "root" of this forum (the main page) the recent posts listings next to the resmod forum. I can only see 2-3 post in this forum when accessed normally, yet when I click the recent post on the main part of the forum I see this one AND can reply to it. Technically I see this as a bug and will report it as well. Permissions on this paticular branch from the main tree of the forum needs to be reworked a bit >.<

Care to explain why this thread was innapropriate Strife?
/327/87/148535/1.html
Surely a positive thread on the possibilities we have within second life is always appropriate.
Especially considering that this /327/1b/148543/1.html, and this /327/fe/140891/1.html, are still open.
Really Strife, is this part of an intolerant attitude towards SC posters that ive seen you express on a few occassions?
